  1. Holy crap !!! look at the size of that tick. I haven't seen one that big since I was a child. Good on you for taking the poor cat to the vets Mystiqview, poor thing would have passed away for sure right under that tree if it weren't for you. Hope it is alright. I have gone back to Advantix once a fortnight again as I thought all this rain might increase the number of ticks. GRRRRR I hate them with a passion.
  2. Totally agree dancinbcs. It is the luck of the draw when you purchase a puppy even if it's from the very best of breeders. Breeders can't make any guarantee's. These things can happen. I do think stress is a big contributer to this condition. Stella is & always has been a very nervous girl. But I do keep her on the best diet I can & also add vitamins, I use Troy Behave etc to her diet so her immune system doesn't become run down as my vet suggested & to help her with her stress levels so far so good. The op's puppy sounds as if it has it much more severe, legs etc. I don't know enough about it to say any more than what I have. What you recommend makes perfect sense to me. As unfortunate as it is for the op.
  3. That is exactly the point I was trying to make Squinter. Yes my girl had a bout of this when she was little BUT I brought her on Limited Register & she was desexed & all is swell. She is a wonderful pet. You on the other hand brought this pup on Main Register with the thought of breeding etc down the track, now your hopes may not happen.Your husband is annoyed & rightly so IMHO. Disappointed too ! Money too is another factor in this naturally. Look I really feel for you because you have become attached to the little pup & this is a terrible situation to be in & it sounds like quite a severe case of Demodex, going by what you have said. I am no vet but when Stella had it she just had slight hair loss around one eye, nowhere else & she never had another issue with it. I would be getting another vets opinion & talking to the breeder, as others have already said. Good luck with what you choose to do. Sorry you have to endure this as this is not how it is suppose to be when getting a new pup :)
  4. Very true dancinbcs. Stella suffered a bout of demodex just around her right eye when she was about 6 months old. With treatment it went away, hair grew back & she hasn't had it again. I however brought her on limited reg. not main reg. Really feel for anyone in this position. Must be heartbreaking if you brought the puppy to breed from down the track.
  5. Thank goodness for that DB. I can't your luck atm though. It can ONLY get better :)
  6. So very true Judy. She was in her favourite place & wanted for not a thing, thanks to your kindness. Most importantly she was so very loved & felt contentment for probably the first time in a very long time. She will always be there with you. RIP Bonnie girl
  7. I just read the newspaper article. Great work 'again' K9 Angel Loved the photo of little Cookie girl. Makes me cry every time I see her sweet, sweet face
  8. I would be off to the vets with him I'm afraid. He is obviously in discomfort.
  9. It is very hard to make a call on this one as frames can vary lots in size & what's left on them content wise. Also the age, shape & fitness level your dog is at now. What else does he consume during the day? I think it will be a case of half a frame maybe, monitor for a while, see how is your dog looking? & go from there. If still looking a bit to heavy go to a bit less, if not enough maybe a handful of good quality dry food as well in the arvo perhaps :)
  10. Thanks everyone for all the advice. Much appreciated. Will let you know how we go with it :)
  11. Quick question on this please. I'm wanting to buy one of these from bunnings, which file attactment would I use for my Border's? OH also was a bit concerned that you could get it caught in the paw hair? Although I always keep their feet trimmed & do this before I do their nails. Thanks in advance :)
  12. Hi Dandybrush, Jesus yes, I knew Willow had hurt herself but what's happen to Razz now?
  13. How thoughtful of you! You're a kind soul Oh thank's padraic :)
  14. Lovely pic Clover, very natural & happy 'hooligans' :)
  15. Totally agree with you 'again' thundercat. Another sickening story isn't it? Its people like this that make me understand why I have more of a connection with my dogs then I do with humans I'm the same TC. My dogs are genuine unlike 99 % of most people.
  16. How could I refuse such a kind offer. I am going to drop by for a short visit & am so looking forward to it. Even if I can watch in the back ground for a bit ( & have a drool at the beautiful bc's) I will go home one very happy girl. Sounds like you all have a tonne of fun too. Good luck guys :)
  17. Totally agree with you 'again' thundercat. Another sickening story isn't it?
  18. This is such a sad story with these little puppies. There are NO winners in this one IMHO. Not the owners,(they obviously have NO idea),the kids (never been taught any different), or the poor dogs they own ( no choice in it), the people who buy these little ones ( know no better, perhaps they think they are 'saving these poor mites) & certainly NOT the puppies I just shake my head. Beggers belief, really does & is just such a bloody sad shame. Donatella, We have a nursing home fairly close to where we live. In the afternoon some of the residents that are capable sit themselves in the sunroom at the front of the building & they can look out the window. Sometimes when I have time, usually once a fortnight, I walk down past this place with my 2 guys, just to see the reaction on their faces in amazing. Instant smiles, their faces light up. They all wave "hello" & I wave back. Sonny & Stella can see them & they wag their tails like mad & that makes them light up even more. Makes my day & I'm sure it makes theirs :) I worked in one of these establishments for years & I know some of those poor old people don't get anyone come to visit from one month to the next. Or not until they take gravely ill, then all the 'long lost' relo's come out of the woodwork
  19. Such a beautiful Grey boy Run free Cowboy. So sorry for your loss
  20. Dear Bonnie, R.I.P. now girl You can spend all the time you want in your favourite place in the world where you are in paradise. So sorry for your loss Judy Bonnie brought tears to my eyes when I first read about her & the dreadful state she was in. She just blossomed with all your tlc, crying again just cause she was just so beautiful & had a wonderful soul. At least the last part of her life she knew what it was to be truly loved & cared for thanks to you
  21. Oh that is very kind of you Benshiva. It is hard when you just want to 'get it right' but are inexperienced & unsure at times. Plus I have never been very confident. You are so busy though & I am not on facebook. Many thanks for your kind offer, if you can fit me in somewhere I would be thrilled, if not thats ok too, totally understand. Certainly didn't expect it as I didn't even know you were mentoring Poomother, I was guessing & I still think she is heaps lucky LOL :)
  22. Earthborn Holistic Coastal Catch is just a little more expensive but from memory there is not that much in it. I love both products, TOTW suits my 2 the best but EBCC is running a close 2nd. You can only go by how your guys go on the product. Big thumbs up for both here :)
