  1. Oh bugger LOL thanks Rebanne anyway. Fingers crossed then :) I did notice one Border in one of the classes but it didn't make it through. A beautiful Sami won that class. Magnificent looking boy.
  2. My boys coat/skin condition has improved dramatically over recent times & I haven't started using the tea yet but have just read the ingredient label on Plush Puppy's Sea breeze Oil as I have been using this product as a rinse aid after their daily swim & "surprise, surprise" Calendula is one of the main ingredients
  3. What a wonderful day out for everyone including our 4 legged BF's. Look at the huge crowd this contest drew as well which is terrific. My guys would have been in their element Fantastic fun !!! Loved all the photo's Huga
  4. I'm a bit confused with the breed classes??? I want to watch the border collies & can't seem to find when they are on. I thought they may be classed as pasteral but couldn't find any there. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Am feeling like a right goose for having to ask actually
  5. Big Yes to this !! :) Especially with my girl. We play ball together cause she just loves to run & chase it. Then I'll ask her to do something eg lay down or whatever & she does it super fast & with such gusto. I can walk outside at home & request the same thing & while she is obedient she has nowhere near the enthusiasm that she has when we are having a game.
  6. Gosh T, it's a b awful thing. Your girl was extremely fortunate to have survived then.
  7. I just watched the window washer... Loved it too
  8. How awful for your mum & her pooch Terrifying experience that would stay with you forever. Very sad indeed
  9. 100% agree.... Well said Anne. Why do it at all?????? Purely for the owner enjoyment. The last thing I would want to do to my beloved dog is inflict any pain for NO reason Self scented & very cruel idiots IMHO.
  10. How awful.... Thanks for the heads up Sheena. Geez poor puppies I should share this news with a lady I know that has 3 beautiful standard Poodles that have NEVER been vaccinated as she doesn't believe in it
  11. Gosh how scary for you & your dogs I can totally understand your fears. This man sounds like he is clueless & any dogs in the wrong hands can be a recipe for disaster. Trouble is innocent dogs & their owners can wind up being there casualties Totally agree with persephone :) Personally I would stay as far away from them as you can & avoid this whole situation. Please don't allow this discourage you from walking your dogs though. Just find alternative routes & places to do so. Sure this may disrupt your schedule in the beginning but better to stay safe IMO.
  12. Beautiful, very heat warming adoption story. Good on the 3 nuns Remi must think she is in heaven now. Loved the pic of her with her lovely new pin coat & lead on :D
  13. Rainth epilepsy is certainly extremely confronting. My girl isn't keen on Boxers for the same reason as Del doesn't like Dobes. Their stance. They are very upright. Hankdog, yes am looking forward to going to a specialist Vet. I know Stella is EE but I really think her meds are in need of review. Some coping skills/advice I also really need. Great to hear Jake is going so well. Huge progress there. Well done Sounds like you have an excellent trainer too which would b a godsend I think. Thats next on my list of 'to do's' is to get a suitable trainer on a regular basis once things with Stella calm down somewhat healthwise.
  14. Yes watching the seizures is just so traumatic Teekay. Just awful Trouble is of late I have started to have nightmares reliving them over & over during the night as well which I could do without. I think it is just because they upset me so much when they really do occur I am on tender hooks atm most of the time because you just don't know when she is going to have another one. She is a very highly strung girl at the best of times. You are suppose to carrying on as usual but I have to admit I'm having difficulty doing that. I am finding myself quite edgy around her with worry that's all. I want to just wrap her in cotton wool & keep her safe. Stella turned 3 last November Teekay. Thanks for the cyber hug :)
  15. Thats really great if shaping exercises has brought him out of his shell & built up his confidence to the point where he is very comfortable now with everybody. Another question if you dont mind. How much time with shaping each day would you have spent approx. shaping such behaviour. I do understand every dog is different but just wondering. My girl is very nervous but very food driven. I may be able to manage to shape this kind of behaviour. Im not very confident myself so we are both a work in progress. Probably not the best combo :)
  16. Thanks for explaining that in detail Agility Dogs. They have numerous uses then don't they. It's amazing how you have taught your guys to balance on them. I should try one to help my girl as she lacks confidence. And more great pic's :)
  17. Oh many thanks Snook. Much appreciated . Stella is sound asleep atm. She has had a really good day today. Full of beans & her cheeky, happy self. Just got to learn to ride the roller coaster of emotions atm. She just makes me feel all warm & fuzzy when I watch her on her good days. She is such a character. Very vocal & animated. Little miss smarty pants. Love her to bits :)
  18. Great shots once again Agility Dogs. Can I ask those blue fit balls are they to help teach your dogs balance or feet position awareness? I have seen quite a few people use them for rehabilation.
  19. Just had a quick look online at Kathy Cornack. I was impressed. Did you find her really good VM ? Feel free to pm me if you like.
  20. Hello everyone, As the topic heading suggests I am looking for a Holistic/behavioural Vet in the Port Stephens area NSW. I have a special needs Epileptic effected 3 year old BC with quite a few nervous/phobic issues as well. Her quality of life is greatly concerning me so I am looking for a Vet that ay specialize in these areas. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Thanks everyone for your heart felt concern. Sorry for throwing this thread a bit Tassie ... I read your post nodding my heading in total agreement. Especially the 'quality of life' aspect. It has become extremely worrying to me Tassie Stella's over all quality of life. Poor girl doesn't ever seem to be at peace. It is so very sad. Stel is such a dear little girl..... I have felt I needed specialized Vet treatment for some time now. Not my Vets fault of course. I just have special needs girl is all. I am going to ask around, see what I can come up with. Thanks for the link Tassie as well, looks very helpful :) Raineth this has been a huge learning curve for me & I've only just scratched the surface. It is very tough for me atm Can't seem to think clearly with all the worry of it is all.
  22. Oh thanks so much raineth & yes it is unbelievably hard to cope atm. It is difficult to get Epilepsy meds for Stella as my Vet seems to think that the seizures aren't frequent enough to warrant it. IMO though I really don't know how much more stress her little body can take. Nor mine for that matter  It takes her days to completely recover from a seizure they are just so taxing on her. Must be like running a marathon or something. She is just exhausted. Poor girl I' hate to think what effect it is having on her heart as well.
  23. Not so good here raineth. Stella has had a few mild turns over the last few days & today she had a huge Epileptic seizure. She was fine all morning, went for a long walk/ swim/ had some retrieve games on the beach. All went well. Got home, rinsed her off. About 20 mins later I heard a bang ourside, I rushed out & my poor girl had thrown up, wet herself & lost control of her bowels. She was paralysed & lying on her stomach with her legs sticking out, very contorted. I just sat by her side till she came around as she was semi unconsious. It is just horrible to witness her in such distress I did my best to remain calm. As far as her reactivity is going she has improved. I havent been doing much other training with her atm. I have been consistant with LAT though & am seeing positive results but I just want to get her health issues a bit more settled first. Going to consult with our Vet regarding some meds for her tomorrrow. I think I need to as the seizures are taking their toll on her. She is very nervy & exhausted tonight so I am just monitoring her. Have given her her Xanax so hoping that takes effect soon. My poor darling girl. Life is so cruel at times
