  1. Yes I would have a talk to your Vet about him & your concerns regarding his tummy. I would be inclined to use a monthly heart worm product till you get his tummy issues under control & he is on a regular diet without any loose stool issues...
  2. Beautiful photo's . What a lovely old boy. Great job capturing there special bond. The one with both of them lying on the grass is simply breath taking.....
  3. When you say wet food airlock do you mean canned ? If so I wouldn't bother with it. That will give a pup loose stools quicker than anything IMO. If you want to "top" a preminium quality dry food why not use some thing raw. Be it chicken, kangaroo, beef. You only need s small amount. Sardines, eggs . I make my own food up using these ingredients as a base. Raw meaty bones are also great but make sure they are not a load bearing bone. Eg. Shank as they can splinter. Try Brisket. I also don't like chicken necks as they can be a choking hazzard. I feed wings to pups or small chicken carcasses. Has your pup been wormed regularly? Remember any changes to pups diet must be done very gradually as the change alone can upset some tummies.
  4. Don't be it will cost me a divorce when my husband see's them  Shhhhh ...don't worry I won't tell , LOL.
  5. That's so cute. Chicky loves the sun too LOL. Great capture :)
  6. Im jealous mish13 LOL congrats & enjoy :)
  7. I'm sorry your pup got ruffed up airlock. I hope he is ok. Try & rebuild his confidience slowly. This has happened to us as well. I just survey everywhere I take my guys. Never let them off lead till I have. Even if there is a sniff of trouble we leave pronto. I take no risks with unknown dogs of any breed. Very important to learn to read dogs body language both yours & approaching as best you can. This has helped me loads.
  8. i think it relates to dogs ability to read each other and preferred play styles. The more different the dog, the more challenging it is for your dog to 'read' it. Look at Boxers - they tend to spark a lot of reaction from other dogs. I think its because their expression tends to look challenging when its just their head and eye shape. Oh gods yes, boxers might as well be from Mars as far as my 2 are concerned! Same with my 2 guys. Between their upright stance & their goofiness I think they think that they are directly from Mars. They are just so different. Their play style is very different. I'm yet to have meet a mean one though.
  9. I too love the poem..... So sorry you lost your boy in such tragic circumstances.
  10. I have heard the it can be a food related thing Dory. I know when I was feeding more dry food than I do now there was one particular brand that made Sonny's coat much more red than it is now & he lost all of his luster.
  11. I think with my boy it is battling the elements not genetic. My girl tends to through a little red trough her coat & pants as well but not as bad as Sonny does. Their coats are very shiny though & I rake out their under coat often. They are brushed daily. I might put them on a Seaweed sup. Natural Solutions has a good one. See how they go.
  12. Yes guilty..... an almost daily thing for me to do is look up all the rescues. I can't have any more dogs atm but that doesn't stop me from browsing through them all. Reading their details etc. Following their plight to see if they get adopted & where they go. Love to read that some are snapped up to loving homes. Always got a big soft spot for any working breed & there is always so many of them unfortunately
  13. My girl is very ball fussy too. What is it with these girls LOL.. She wont have a bar of a tennis ball. You can throw one all day & she will watch you, but wont chase it. It has to be a rubber ball. Her fav is the Chuck it Ultra. Looooves them. Costs me a bomb not cause they break or anything they are tuff as but I am a terrible shot LOL :)
  14. I actually bumped into a guy that was a spectator at this event. He absolutely loved it & was kind enough to share some pic's & video footage he had taken of of some of the event. Fantastic venue. Amazingly talented dogs...... Promised myself a seat there one time as I would love to go & watch in ore of such well trained beauty & talent. Wonderful photo's Agility Dogs. Beautiful dogs. Your right it does look like BC heaven :)
  15. I had no idea normal tennis balls are dangerous / toxic for dogs. I am very lucky as my 2 don't like them & won' t chase them. They only ones they like are Chuck it Ultra's. They are their fav' s :)
  16. Sonny my male BC is a bit of a one girl dog. He just wants to be with me & wants me to handle him. While he will go with say OH on a walk the whole time he is turning around looking for me. He is still obedient to a point but certainly not as relaxed as he is with mum :) Stella is very robot like with another handler. She does exactly as she is told but is very stiff. Doesn' t look all that comfortable with the scenario. Neither will take a treat from a stranger usually. Stella will sometime except a treat but always spits it out again lol. Sorry Staffy luv but not sure how to improve that behaviour really apart from letting others take him more often till Zig gets more used to it.
  17. I am not a fan of Furminator's as they cut the top coat I believe which is what I certainly don't want to do. I prefer the Coat King as you lift their coat to use the Coat King to remove the under coat which helps promote new healthy growth. Minimax, my BC male has a similar look about him at times. Not as obvious as Boston but certainly not as black as I would like him to be. I have tried Livermol with hm but he actually went threw more red in his coat if anything so I stopped using it. Anyone tried that Colour-Max product. I can't seem to find any ingredient list on it either & I am reluctant to give it a try until I find out more about it.
  18. Same here. I have been using this product for a while now & my guys coats have never looked better. They are big salt water lovers so that can damage their coats very quickly if not rinsed out asap after each swim. I find this is very easy to use, just a few squirts in their evening meal. They love the taste too. I also make my own Barf diet which includes a fair amount of sardines/eggs which I believe also helps. A good coat comes primarily from within I believe :)
  19. Me either stans mum.Not a hope in hell I would kill & eat my dog Disgusting.... I would rather just pass away then he wouldn't go hungry for a while & hopefully be rescued. Chuckling at Stan, definitely not a stayer then SM, giggle... :)
  20. I'm afraid my male BC Sonny has me well trained then too.... of late he hasn't been eating his dinner out of his bowl unless I hand feed him. Then he very slowly eats it bit by bit. I actually didn't give it any thought that he may be demanding attention in a round about way. Will have to stop helping him out. Said by a very red faced BC owner :)
  21. Not sounding very sucessful then the cordless type. That is unfortunate. I was just thinking it would be easier. No cord getting in the way. I will use these cheap ones up then try & find a smaller/ lighter cord version I think.
  22. I don't know anything about Pugs minimax but could it be that Boston still has some 'old' coat that needs to be brushed out in order for his full new coat to come through. Maybe it's old puppy coat? I use a rake /Mars coat king to remove any dead coat. On a short haired dog I am unsure if these tools would be used Sorry not very much help :) I would be interested to know more about that Colour Max Black supplement as my boy coat throws alot of red at times. Will be watching this thread with interest.
  23. I just brought a Wahl cordless/ battery opperated trimmer today actually to trim my guys feet as we have a big tick / bur/ bindi problem in our area. I brought a Shear Magic trimmer of simmilar type which lasted only a very short time then stopped working. So hopefully I have better luck with this one. I will keep my docket after teela's helpful heads up advice :) Plan B is to spend more than 3 times the $$ if need be. I have a Wahl cord clipperkit already thats been used once but is too bulky / heavy for me to use due to my hand injury impairment issues.
  24. Congratulations on your new little boy. Wonderful photo's of your beautiful new son & your gorgeous 4 legged family members. I would also like to congratulate you on taking the time to prepare Skeeter & Em so they are as happy & comfortable about the new arrival as you are. If only more folks took the time to do the same. Well done & enjoy :)
