Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread

Thanks guys :D Well my girl has really surprised me as yet again today she was fantastic with approaching dogs Maybe it is the whole just turning 3 thing some folks talk about. Whatever it is I am thrilled I actually got a bit overwhelmed with pride this morning & shed a few tears when I got home. Silly I know but when I see how just how smart Miss Stella is & she always tries so hard to please me. I have given her everything I have. Just a lovely warm moment. -
I don't need an alarm clock, door bell or security guard as I have Stella. She also lets me know if there is a bird within kooee of our backyard. Also if she or Sonny are going to be sick during the night, she will bark to alert me so as I can let them out & sure enough. She's does a very good Dyson impersonation as well  Don't need to spray for flies as Sonny is the best fly catcher there is. He is also the kissing police. There will be no shananigans going on in 'his' house unless he is the middle :)

Yes hankdog, saved me typing once again. Totally agree with you. I don't do crowed places with Stella. She just doesn't cope. It is all a bit 'much'. She usually has a complete meltdown & ends up an anxious mess. I am always assessing our surroundings when we are out anywhere. Scanning with my eye's whats approaching us etc. I also would have used the emergency "U" turn as we do that too & high tailed it out of there in that situation. Just a small brag regarding my girl today. We were ambushed today on 3 separate by dogs we didn't know as we were playing retrieve at the beach. Previously in this situation Stella would charge at the approaching loose dog, growling, showing teeth & hackels up, all meaning 'business'. But have been working really hard over the past few months on this unwanted behavior. I give the 'Leave it" command, then I just redirect her attention with the ball or whatever I have in my hands at the time. And it seems to be paying off as today on all 3 occasions she went to charge, I told her to Leave it & she did with no charging or aggression shown.... YA !!! I'm wrapped. She seems to just look up at me now when things like this occur for direction which is exactly what I want her to do. Where as previously she would just aggressively blot off in an instant. One very proud mum today :) -
Me too DiscoDobe !!! Nice pool. Looks like so much fun for everyone :)

Loving this thread :) Stans mum, if I didn't know better Maddie does look like she gets a hiding every other day. LOL. Not happy Jan!! Stan is just lapping the atmosphere up as per :) JulesP, beautiful BC's. My guys are the same around water. It's like they can't get in it quick enough. I always have trouble getting mine out to come home. They both get the sulks, giggle. -
Thats great news :) There is a house like that round the corner from us. Young family though with a very cranky Labradore that they just let roam every morning. My heart starts to race just thinking about trying to walk by We are usually too fast for him but he is very cunning & sneaks up from behind to try & bite Sonny. It is so unsettling though. I totally sympathise with you.

I'm another with a Booster Bath. I have it outside hooked up to our outside shower, Mr BCC is a plumber so I am very fortunate ;) this works a treat for us. Both my guys swim in the ocean every day so it gets a work out. I rinse them off with warm water daily & final rinse them with Plush Puppy Seabreeze oil to help protect their coats from the elements & all of this with no bending down. Love it !

Wouldn't be trading him in any time soon LOL.... What a beautiful gift. A lot of heart has gone into his gift of choice. Very thoughtful. Just beautiful :)

My girl usually doesn't give most other dogs the time of day. She is very aloof mostly & can be DA if the right buttons are pushed. Thats until she spots Jake, a 60+ kg Malumute boy. She adores him & just melts whenever they meet. She talks her head off & licks his face to bits. He tolerates all of this, just stands there like eye's roll...." are you done yet" then off he trots. Very funny to watch :)

You saved me typing Hankdog, agree 100%. Very sad story. I would be moving. Start a fresh.

Rspca Withdraws Cruelty Charges Against Kim Hollingsworth
BC Crazy replied to Aphra's topic in In The News
Totally agree griff... What a crock she is & a totally clueless one at that !!! How she can lay her head on a pillow to sleep at night knowing her horses are slowly dying from sheer lack of adequate care. Food, water, shelter & Vet care etc is way beyond me -
Awww..... they are just so cute :) love the shot of them watching the TV together. Looks like they are cuddling but I suspect you may be right. Headlock for sure LOL.

Rspca Withdraws Cruelty Charges Against Kim Hollingsworth

Shocking !!! Those poor horses How much evidence do the RSPCA need to convict this woman???? All the while these poor, beautiful horses are left to breed even more to die of neglect & starvation. Blind Freddy can see that this whole "train wreck" of a situation didn't just occur over night. Why isn't she held accountable for such horrid cruelty ??? Sorry I just don't get it -
Kippers is just beautiful. What a very sweet little bloke. Hope he finds a loving forever home very soon :)
-
Oh that is wonderful news !!! Hope she is going to be able to recover OK. Thanks for sharing this news jemappelle as I don't belong to Facebook.

Not brave enough to open the link Poor beautiful tigers.... From the posts here they are suffering terribly How can this occur ??? They are so endangered as it is mostly through humans poaching them for their beautiful skins. Now again at the hands of bloody human's that can't even take loving care of these magnificent creatures in captivity. These people also invite others, at a cost of course, to witness the poor tigers misery Sorry it is just so shockingly upsetting to me.

Such a terrible way for the beautiful little boy to die Extremely saddened to hear this :( His herd & mother will take a long time to recover from this shocking accident. R.I.P Sanook. Run free boy.....
