Thanks for the link JulesP :) -
Oh this sounds very similar to my rescue boy at 14 years old just before his larricks collasped just from being such an aged boy. A vet visit for a check up would be best. Good luck with her kirslin. I actually had Redman operated on. They did an opp very similar to a de bark. It just made his last 7 months a lot more comfortable as he could breathe much easier.

Yes that's where I probably fall down a bit Staffyluv. Too much playing & not enough training  So I am gradually getting a better balance between the two. Zippy sounds terrific. You certainly are very fortunate that she fits in so well with your boy & your routine. No thoughts on keeping her then S Luv ??? :p -

Wow ! What a tramsformation already :) looking so much better in every way. Great work foster carers. She just looks so much more content even lying on her mat not having to continually search for food. Wonderful..... poor girl must think she has gone to heaven after the hell she has been through. -

Oh thanks staffyluv for taking the time to reply :) Will be taking your productivity on board. I am very guilty of over thinking. Making simple things so complicated. Thanks for clarifying it. -

Amazing progress SL :) Quick question Staffy luv. How do manage training now you also have Zip. Do you have to crate/ tie up one while training the other? It's one thing I do struggle with on ocassion. -
Amen to that persohone :) I am far from an expert. Much prefer a rekaxing walk.

Well done staffyluv. Jake is blitzing it.... You should be so very proud. Jake can come & teach Stella extended stays ok. We go well till a bird flies past, then she is like sorry mum gotta go LOL & breaks stay. But I will keep practising. Keep up the great work Jake. You are an inspiration :) -
Yes there is a big difference between heeling & loose leash walking Diva. I don't need my guys to do formal heeling really but loose leash walking is a must for a pleasant walk. Nothing worse than getting dragged around is there? It is sounding to me like there is way too much pressure on this pup. I could be wrong but 30 mins is just way too long for a lesson. I keep mine no longer than a couple of mins. Then we play. Otherwise they just switch off mentally, then it is no fun for anyone. Even now & my girl is 2 & a half, not 15 weeks. Lisa CC... Exactly. This is what I do & it works for us.

oh dear.... reading those comments made me worry. I will bring him to a vet next thing tomorrow. He is really quiet.. not at all active and sparkly. ( unless we get really excited then he would get excited too , or else he would just sit or lay by our feet as we're on the computer etc.. ) He gets excited by food mostly (haha) And i haven't brought him to the vet yet because, the previous owners just got him vaccinated 3 days before we bought him over, c5 c3 so it didnt occur to me to visit the vet again so soon. They handed us a receipt with his microchip number on it. He is also desexed, he has no testicles. I just started trying to cut down on his food and feed him fish and he now weighs 13.6 kg. We put dry food out and he doesn't finish it. ( previous owners asked us to give 1.5 cups ) we're cutting to just fish in the morning ( twice a week) and raw chicken necks for breakfast and dry food ( 1 cup ) for dinner. We walk him twice early morning for him to poop pee about 10 mins for so, and then evening for an hour or so. He is doing very well with obedience training, we train him twice a day, he can obey sit, lay and leave it. Try not to worry too much :) See what the Vet's visit brings. Maple may just be a quiet kind of fella. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. How about we swap furkids for a week  you can take care of my girl, Stella & I'll look after your Maple. I feel like a rest :p You will need a rest after a week with my little miss. She is a 100 miles an hour with attitude to burn  On a more serious note. I'm so pleased you are cutting down Maple's food. 1.5 cups of dry food, provided it is a good quality one IMHO is WAY too much for him especially as it is not all he gets. My neutured Border Collie only has half a cup + some home made Barf a day & he is 23 kilo's. He is also exercised 2 hours a day. Lovely to hear he is now having more frequent wee walks & you've started training him too. Well done Your doing really great with him clarabelle. Keep us posted on the Vets visit please :)

I was unaware that the JS where popular with puppy farmers Dancinbc's Coincidently just yesterday I bumped a lady with a brother & sister pair of puppies. I asked her what breed they were as they looked like white Pom's. She replied she had brought them from a reg. breeder & they were JS x Pom . A new breed she informs me. Oh dear..... With regards to Maple I was also concerned that a JS 12 months old was apparently that quiet. Not the norm for a puppy that age I wouldn't think either.

Yes have to agree 30 mins is too far/long for any pup but especially a large breed IMO. I am no expert. There are lots of GSD folks on the breed sub forum page that will know how much leash exercise to give him. I just don't move forward if there is any tension in the lead. I just become a tree & stand perfectly still until the leash becomes slack or pup turns back. Then off you go. Any tension, stop again. You really have to be vigilant/ consistent though. Turning around works too. Patience is key here & don't be in a hurry to get away fast. It could take you an hour to get to the end of the driveway. Reward puppy when he is walking next to you. Puppy will get distracted/excited etc. All part of being a youngster. Having said that mine are good on lead the majority of the time but my girl is like LisaCC's pooch & tends to rush a bit when we get close to home :)

Toothpaste Seems To Have Removed Staining On Beard
BC Crazy replied to giraffez's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My male Border Collie has brown/rusty coloured stains on both sides of his bottom jaw. Looks terrible. I'd love to know what causes it as my girl doesn't have the same issues. They are both on the same diet. I would like to get rid of it. I did try a course of Angel Eyes & it went away but now it is back again & I don't want to put him on AE again. I don't think it is harmful to use doggie tooth paste giraffez. -
Nova is just beautiful ♥ Great photos too. I love the lickity split one :-D

Well done Coles. Big thumbs up to you ★ -
Might be a good idea if you just get a couple of toys of different textures & shapes. Maybe a small tug toy & engage him. Play with Maple. See what he reacts to or seems to like. He might like a little ball or an empty milk bottle. Kongs are great for a novel way to keep him occupied. A smear of cottage cheese or light peanut butter inside, most dogs love them. I give my 2 their brekkie in a Kong. They are on a mostly raw diet so I fill them with home made barf & à sardine topper. They love it. Summer time I freeze them sometimes. Exercise is very important to help let off some steam. Walks are great. I find incorporating some simple obedience. Sits, stays, downs whatever. Maybe start teaching him some simple tricks. Rewarding wanted behaviour & ignoring the unwanted. IMHO you need to start to enage him. It will help you to bond with him & keep him mentally stimulated in apartment accomodation. Hope this is of some help. Just things that have worked for me :)

Lovely new Spritz family member Clarabelle. 14 hours between toilet breaks is a bit too long IMHO & others I gather so yes I would be taking him for quick "wee" breaks through out the day. I don't have a Spritz but I have always wanted one. With my very untrained eye he looks very much a pedigree to me but there are plenty of breed savvy folks on here that will be able to set me straight if I am wrong. Such a pretty breed & very smart by all accounts. Enjoy him :)

Yes Rosetta, I agree, consistent. No dogs or all breeds of dogs. Not randomly chosen by preference perhaps.
