OH Cute Staffyluv.

My OH got a SS Beer keg & cut it in half. Then put garden hose around the top to cover up any sharp edges. Works a treat, keep water pretty cold as well.

I Am Scratching My Ear .......i Am A Baaaad Girl.......
BC Crazy replied to persephone's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Caillie is lovely. My last boy went the same way at around 14 years old. Didn't steal stuff but very confused & would get 'stuck' in the corner of a room & I'd gently turn him around. He'd look up at me like, " oh yeah" this is the way I wanted to go.. Exact same facial expression as your girl in this photo. Dear old souls . -
Nothing a face washer wouldn't fix..... second thoughts maybe a towel LOL. Sumo is awesone♥ He is a big water baby now :)

She's very happy to be home by the looks of those glorious belly shots

You can apply it as soon as you like AFTER a bath as long as pup is completely dry. DO NOT shampoo for 48 hours after you apply you spot on tick /flea treatment :) I had read/heard that you should wait 2-3 days so the body oils have a chance to distribute over the dog & so distribute the product. When going to Newcastle last year with our dogs we were told to apply Advantix twice, 2 weeks apart, if we weren't already using it for ticks. Interesting luvsdogs. I have never heard that you should wait after bathing your dog to apply Advantix. I pretty much always apply it the same day. At least once a month anyway as I wash my guys every 3 weeks. When you say you were told to apply it twice, 2 weeks apart you mean every fortnight. Yes ?? If so that is correct to help with Tick protection. Still go over your dogs at least daily to check for them.

Wonderful news K9 Angel :-D

I am not a big person. At 5ft tall & 48 kg. I also have hand/ lower arm impairment on both left & right sides so walking my 2 Border Collies can be very difficult at times. I am scared of off leash big dogs of any breed approaching us or if they are leashed & but not under effective control. Most smaller ones I can frighten off verbally thus far. I just head in the opposite direction asap but it means I never let my guard down while I'm out & about. I am constantly searching in our radius for incoming danger.

Cheeky little bugger LOL .... very full of beans :)

Leah82, your 2 guys sound kinda similar to ours. My needy girl is to the extreme along with anxiety sky high at times though. Minus that fact I often think the " perfect" dog would be a clone of both mine mixed together as well. So we have got the best of worlds really :)

Found it !!! Beautiful Hank & Odie are BBF's....Lovely :) No wonder you have trouble getting anything done at home with those 2 gorgeous time wasters & their antic's. It must be hilarious

Poor girl for you K9 Angel. I understand how heart breaking & stressful it is when our loved ones are ill be it 2 or 4 legged Hope Takoda continues to improve so she can come home tomorrow. She certainly is a stunning girl.

Same here. My guys have never tried to lick it off either. Maybe some dogs do. I don't know. I just apply it before their evening brush. Sonny has never worried about me applying it. Stella used to be a shocker.I get more on me than her It was a 2 person job to apply it. OH had to hold her. I think it was the smell that used to upset her cause she was OK till I opened it. Anyway I persisted & she stands very still now thankfully :)

I have heard this too. My Vet advised me to use half between the shoulder blades & dot the rest further along the spine but make sure to not apply it too far down the spine as the dog can turn around & lick it off as it is toxic. I had never thought of that actually.

Stella was a shocker for jumping on us when she was a puppy just out of sheer excitment . Teaching her a very strong sit soon fixed that. They can't sit & jump at the same time. But you must be extremely consistant. With visitors I would keep her separate from them till she calmed down. Then sit & then greet :)

Oh didn't know that Clyde. First thing my Vet asked me when I brought some off him once. Don't use it if you have a cat. Thanks for the heads up not that I could have a cat here but it is good to be clued up anyway :)

Yep, you can't use Advantix on your dogs if they come into contact with cats or there are cats in your household. It is toxic to cats apparently.

My 2 are opposites in most ways. I adore them both to bits Sonny is a very calm, lay back boy with a very beautiful soul. A very genuine boy. He is affectionate when he wants to be but must you do things in his order. You have to have a game first , then cuddle. He isn't a real tail wager either. Loves a big pat though. He can be rather aloof. So if he is lying on his bed he & you walk into the room he will lift his paw up & make noise to get your attention for a pat but he wont move most times. Too comfy He is very smart but can be a bit stubborn to train at times if he just doesn't want to do something that is asked of him he will bark right at you in annoyance. Stella is adorable. She is fiercely loyal . Very loving. Totally devoted to us. She loves a snuggle. First thing in the morning for a least half an hour that's all she wants to do. Talks her head off at you. She is a real tail wager. She nearly turns herself inside out wagging it. She is super smart. Lightening fast learner. All Stella wants to do is please me. Most times you only have to show her once & she's got it down. She is extremely driven. She will train any time, any where. Unfortunately Stella has a very nervous, anxious temperament which has caused both her & us lots of grief. We cope with that on a day by day basis with medication & close supervision. IMHO I think because Sonny is calm, stable & very centred within himself he isn't possibly as in need of us emotionally as Stella is if that makes any sense. She has to near us or know where we are at all times before she will settle. Both mine compliment each perfectly. Sonny being so emotionally stable Stella can emotionally bounce off Sonny all day long for reassurance. She will shoot him one of her panic looks, say she heard a noise half a block away & he is like, "its cool Stella, don't worry about it" He is the one that has really helped her with her confidence as well. Stella has taught Sonny how to party big time. Let go & be looney. She is up for a game with him any time, any where. It's a beautiful friendship they have actually. That's the part of owning 2 dogs I enjoy the most. Watching them enjoy each others company :) Sorry for the lengthy post guys. Just a tad devoted & a BC tragic

Luvsdogs, I have always lived in a high tick area & since using Advantix have never found a tick on either one of my guys. The only time I have found a tick on Sonny's nose was when I couldn't get Advantix one fortnight & used Frontline plus. With in 2 days of applying it I discovered a large tick on the side of Sonny's nose. Lucky it hadn't been there long enough to do any damage. So I am sticking with Advantix. I apply it every 2 weeks all year round. Plus daily checks in winter. Twice a day in summer. The dogs are used to the routine. They just think it is like a big feely cuddle :D I am paranoid about them as I have lost a dog to one as a child. It isn't a nice way to go. They are horrible things.

Do You Ever Get The Feeling You're Being Watched?
BC Crazy replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sonny chases the rear wind screen wiper too. You just see the back of his head going side to side growling at it LOL They both look out at the folks behind us. They like it if they get some reaction from them. Say if the people wave or there are kids in their car. They get all happy. But if we go for a longer trip they just sleep. Only stirring when we slow down or stop. Tralee, very cute puppy :)
