I found it troubling that the people in the video seemed clueless about dog behaviour and how to handle the situation. Patting the dog showing fear? *shakes head* As for dogs feeling human emotion, what in earth are you on about? Dogs can experience fear, who ever questioned that they couldn't? Fear isn't a 'human' emotion, it is an animal emotion, humans are also animals.

I Almost Killed My Dog By Giving Him Fish Oil Tablets :(

Spot on, there is no need for supplementation 'generally' if you're on premimum kibble diet and your dog has no issues. What are te 'Supergreens' you mentioned? -

You don't need to be concerned about that. If you live in America and you're regularily consuming Fish then this would be something you would look into. If your dog is on a commerical premimum kibble diet you generally would not need any supplementation. If you are not or you have a dog with issues such as skin or arthritis then you generally would look into supplementation. -

Head to your Health Food Store and look at the Labels of the Fish Oils and purchase one with Vit E already in it, makes it nice and simple. Ethical Nutrients with combined Fish Oil, Vit E & Evening Primose Oil - that's a lovely skin combination: http://ethicalnutrients.com.au/content/pro...h-oil-vitamin-e Thompsons Fish Oil has Vit E with it, I used to use these as you can buy the large containers for a reasonable amount: http://www.vitaminking.com.au/fish-oil-ome...on-limited.html Microgenics has Fish Oil with Vit E in it: http://www.vitaminking.com.au/fish-oil-100...icrogenics.html Fish oil is a supplement that can greatly benefit a dog with arthritis. Fish oil helps control inflammation in dogs that have arthritis because it has omega-3 fatty acids. You can give up to 1,000mg of fish oil per 10 kgs. of body weight. However, fish oil can reduce vitamin E levels in the body, so it is important to give your dog extra vitamin E when they are taking fish oil. You can give a small- to average-sized dog about 100 IU of vitamin E daily. Vitamin E also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory, and it is a powerful antioxidant. Click here to read more -

My dog doesn't do great on Fish anymore so we use soaked Chia Seed for the Omega. Much cheaper way of doing it as well and lot's more 'good' things in it to boot. When we did give Fish Oil we would only get the brand that had Vit E in it, I think it was Thompsons from memory - it's a Blue and White label. -

You're always meant to give Vit E when givign Fish Oil, I thought that was a known thing but obviously not. -
If you find any difference with pulling, let me know and I'll give one a shot. Akira is awful on lead. Actually, I should probably try one anyway and see if there's any improvement with her fear of men. Perhaps your dog just needs to be lead trained?

Sounds like he may be picking up on what's going on in the house. If you're worried have a Vet check him out.

That's fine, no probs , but as long as people understand that showing and describing the behaviour you have to contend with from a GSD on an open forum is NOT the behaviour that a genetically sound GSD exhibits or what a prospective GSD buyer should expect when essentially choosing a breed of iconic unflappable confidence and strength. As a GSD owner, lover and enthusiast myself, I hope you can understand my feelings that what you have posted doesn't portray the breed in the light inwhich they are supposed to be All breeds have dogs that don't fit the breed description. There are dogs within every breed that aren't quite mentality right. There's not need to be protective of the breed you love....being realistic is more the key as well as education. This dog seems to have a great owner who is happy to work through the dogs emotional instabilities.

Your puppy is 4 months old, regardless of how smart you believe the puppy to be it is only a baby puppy. Try using prevention techniques, for example if you know your puppy goes nutty the moment you step out of the door then stop the very second that behaviour starts and don't move until the behaviour ceases and then repeat. If you have allowed the puppy to behave in a looney manner each time you have stepped out the door then the dog is going to continue with this behaviour. When you're training a puppy or any dog for that matter you can train them something in one location and that doesn't mean they will do it other locations, dogs don't generalise like that, you have to do activities/training in different environments and situations to help the dog generalise that the command/activity isn't just location based. I would think you just need to do baby steps, i.e walk from the door to the letter box with the dog in a calm frame of mind before going past there and that could take a while, you have to be 100% patient and never angry or frustrated. I personaly don't verbalise anything during these moments, I just keep my mouth shut and work with the dog in silence. Being a bit worried about traffic is perfectly normal, those are big noisey machines to puppies. Please also consider that your puppy is probably entering the 2nd fear period which is generally between 12-16 weeks of age. Click here

Well....you could do the course and then carry on using the range of methods you do anyway (+ a greater understanding of Karen's methods) because she can't exactly take off you what you learned after the fact, you can't be forced to only use a certain technique.

Yep.. Hmm, that's not good... Maybe I should stay away from it then... Or maybe it was a bad batch or just wasn't suitable for their dog. Plenty of people are happy with the products.

How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House
sas replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nah, not controlling, he just has a thing about animals in the house. He wasn't brought up with animals and it just so happens that he was never involved with anyone that had animals of any kind. Neither was my partner....but yours and mine are polar opposites. -
I can't believe it's been a year. It seems fate brought you the right one for your family after your last heart ache.

"professional" Dog Walkers Walking Muzzled Dogs...
sas replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't think there is anything wrong with muzzled dogs being in a Dog Park, mind you if they exhibit other behaviour that makes them dangerous i.e. they still go into full attack they can still hurt and scare another dog. Posturing etc. is something you would expect to see from any number of dogs at a dog park, they aren't the safest place to be to begin with. -
What a knob.

Why would they give the dog up because it's barking? You might want to consider: A) It takes a little while for dogs to settle into new environments B) It's toys might be out of your sight so not to make assumptions C) It might have seperation anxiety so toys and so forth don't matter to it D) The Owners probably have no idea of it's barking. Let them know about it in a nice way, if you don't want to do it face to face, just leave them a note.
