  1. Yes, it was enlightening, but I was disappointed the lady shown at the end feeding raw had two seriously overweight dogs Very interesting! but yes. SO fat!
  2. Hi all, My sister is wanting a decent point and shoot camera for her upcoming overseas trip. Nothing too fancy, or ridiculously expensive, but some suggestions of little cameras that take decent quality pictures would be great :) Thanks in advance!
  3. Agree with this. They have the same degree cost as human doctors, with a starting salary of 50% less.. And it doesn't increase as much as human doctors either. None of the vets i know are in cahoots with big pharma, but maybe some are And despite all thiis, i am still studying to be one
  4. Yes ticks are coastal in areas, but typically more scrubby. I am in Brisbane and they are rampant around here. In saying that, the only two ticks my dogs have ever had have been from my own backyard  and we hike weekly and walk through bush each day. And tick prevention did nothing against them, so i dont bother with it anymore. They get a spritz of tea tree oil before going bushwalking for mozzie repelling, may also help with ticks as i havent had another incident, but who knows. ETA: for piece of mind, put your dog on something, but also keep in mind no prevention is 100% effective, so checks are still needed :)
  5. How strange! We fax and email things to other clinics on a regular basis with no fee. Its really not arduous.
  6. Sounds like my cat! This has happened to him twice now. Not sure why either. The vet assumed maybe a cat bite originally, but it just didn't follow the patterns. We did so many tests, bloods etc. and nothing came back. but he ended up getting better :) So I am sorry i have no clue what it could be, but hopefully your springer is on the improve!
  7. I guess you are really paying for the convenience & obviously a lot cheaper if you make your own when you can get human grade kangaroo, chicken & beef for $10 a kilo. Pretty much. I will continue my DIY feeding regime, but would be happy enough to keep these for dog sitters, as emergency food, or for busy times So really it is comparable to other BARF foods on the market
  8. Here is the response to my email. The organ/ bone content in it does not equal 10% and 10% each it seems. And it has a lot of veggies. So you would have to add in extra organ and bones for the long run I think. "All flavours contain only one meat source incl. organ and bone, we do not mix different kinds of meat like most other manufacturers do. Our food does contain real organ meat like heart and liver. Ratios are usually ca. 70% meat, plus roughly 8% organ/bone content, plus veggies and fruit. All our ingredients are fresh and sourced from human consumption facilities = real meat, market fresh veggies/fruit. We do not use meat meal. Essential fatty acids are animal derived, not plant derived since plant derived omegas are not as easily and readily usable for dogs. There is no salt, water or any preservatives or chemicals added to our food. It is produced freshly and snap frozen for absolute freshness. Since we are using fresh and real ingredients only, no processed meat meals, the ratios obviously can change slightly." ETA:Typo..
  9. Yes...I agree it is a bit vague I have emailed them, we will see what they say!
  10. Just saw this on Facebook  It swears, but its not terribly rude
  11. have never heard this, or had an issue with it in my dogs or cats :) though the cats are picky about what meats, they eat about 3 different kinds :D
  12. Yes, i too would love to know the percentage of meat, bone, organ and veggies. I don't really feed my dogs veggies, and find they are just fillers, so am not a huge fan of many of these BARF foods. But have used Canine country in the past and was considering getting this one for their lamb protein. Though, in saying that i know some brands their 'lamb' flavours also contain chicken, so would also have to check that.. Their website doesn't have enough info to satisfy me
  13. Nope, exactly the same thing! Other spot ons do differ though. Revolution is the only one with the exact same composition i believe. Frontline / fipronil is the same drug different volumes for different sizes. So is Advantage. Well there you go. Quite a few. I forgot about frontline, but did know that one. Had not looked into advantage.
  14. yes, i found a really nice couple from aussiehousesitters :) And had lots of interest from others wanting to stay! Even though i have 3 dogs and 3 cats.
  15. I have heard so many times that cavs are terrible off leash, i have had 4 and none have been an issue at all! They are super easy to train, and only one of mine has really needed a recall trained into him. *cough* Kokoda *cough* who thought swimming was always a better option than staying dry But all of mine have also had some form of training put into them and aren't just casual pets who sit and look pretty, have no manners or rules at all, and just get let off the leash at a park once per week. Maybe that makes it different. I know a few of these cavs.. ETA: Henry is getting worse, but he is going deaf and can't hear things far away. So its not lack of training or breed traits in his case

  17. I am also lucky enough to work at a vet, so will get many things discounted Perhaps if i didn't i would be more inclined to insure my pets.
  18. Yes, i also "self-insure." I put the amount that i would spend on their premiums, and a few bits here and there if i have got it, into a designated pets account that is only used for vet visits and emergencies. eta: I just found i wasn't getting the value from it, esp. with multiple pets.
  19. Actually this reminds me of the nurofen thing, a bit OT but still, it was the same drug in every packet, literally the same tablet, but those marketed for back pain, period pain and headaches were about $2-3 more per packet  They got in trouble for that one!
  20. I dont really understand the point of this post either tbh. i have no issues with this. It was a pet peeve of mine that big dog things cost so much more than small dog things when i had larger dogs. Collars and beds etc were all marked up higher than the small dog goods just because they were for large dogs. Also i split comfortis tablets for the dogs each month, however one chew is used in its entirety and nothing sits open in a pack for a month. And the cats get approx 0.37-0.5ml of the large dog revolution dependent on the cat, that i draw out with a syringe. Much cheaper :) Im also lucky enough to get it cost price through work :D
  21. Sorry to hear Sars It's never easy, and they are never here long enough. RIP Thumper
  22. Yes they have for close to 2 months now! I was sad that its now been publicly announced because all the idiots with their dogs are going to come in and ruin it for the good people
  23. I can see it now, id spend hours constructing an awesome bunk and then all of my dogs would all just squish into the one level I also like that the dog has a pumpkin
  24. I've had my henry hottie beds for 2 years now, and they are holding up awesomely. Still look great, and are just as plush as they were. In contrast my fuzz yard beds are now getting a bit flat and you can feel the floor through them. I just cut a hole in the bottom and re-add stuffing, so its not the end of the world, But i like that i haven't had to do that to the HH beds at all. Plus the Australian made appeals to me :) the orvis ones look really good!
