  1. I was going to ask if you bought them stuffed already. they certainly look good! I need one with an edge for Henry. So may need one of these :)
  2. It is! Or the vizslas russet gold to dark sandy gold. Pretty much the same colours as Ridgebacks!
  3. I use the les pooch on my cav tails :) Usually the red one, sometimes the green one.
  4. No more unique than other breeds. Merle dachshunds are called dapples even though it's merle, liver labs are called chocolate, even though it's just liver, red ticked English setters are "orange belton", sable GSDs are "black and gold" or "black and mahogany", blue can be called blue or grey or silver (depending on the breed) and so on and so forth. Greyhounds actually have a fairly simple system- black, blue, dun, red/fawn/fallow (all sable, one with a modifier), brindle or any of those colours with white. I can't understand why anyone would feel the need to quibble over a colour name when most breed types will have their own colour name system and some of those names are not good descriptors of the actual colours. Or cavaliers- Ruby, blenheim (just red and white in setters! )
  5. I like it! Whether its colour name is correct or not  To me the two dogs are different, the first a more chocolate colour, the second redder. Irish setters, IMO, are red. As are ruby cavaliers. The dun is more liver/choc. similar to this in colour
  6. Saw this on facebook- thought some may like it! http://www.boredpanda.com/dog-films-wedding-gopro/
  7. Yes, i have one of these, another brand, and the chillybuddy. The swamp cooler lasts significantly less than both. My dogs use them in summer when we hike (in the evenings when it is cooler may i add.) and it doesn't last a full hour without being re-wet. pretty useless IMO. I have one of these. I do not recommend. It does not stay wet for very long at all ! I personally love the chillybuddy coats, but they are from the US and the dollar is terrible. I do sell the Chillybuddy jackets here in Australia, post is in the commercial marketplace in OT After testing a variety of cool coats I couldn't fault the Chillybuddy Jackets, the fact the reflect the sun whilst evaporative cooling is occurring makes a huge difference. I also use the gel cool mats with my dogs which help in summer Good to know i was looking at getting another.

  9. This is their supposed history, though mainly the lap dog part I do not really believe their lapdog-ness for a second, Henry is my only true 'lap dog' and thats just because he is old. Kokoda and Deniki run like there is no tomorrow. We have never retrieved, and neither dog shows signs of being a bird dog in any way. However Kokoda will hunt out lizards in a second, so theres some hunter in there! So no, i am not true to either part of their breed history. They don't hunt, but love being active, we do agility, hiking, and learn lots of tricks! I suppose the latter is using them for a purpose other than what they were bred for.
  10. 4 dogs in the house, and 10 beds. Not including crates if they are set up, or blankets, or the couches and human beds The 3 cats do also use them occasionally, so that justifies it right?
  11. All the lagoon's i have ever met are temperamentally unstable. They also have high level grooming needs.
  12. Michelle is lovely- and super helpful- i groom her dogs so have known HH for years! :) I have 4 of the beds. They are holding up soo well too.
  13. So annoying. Especially as i have met more out of control and unsupervised children at bunnings with those damn miniature trolleys than out of control dogs...
  14. And already someone with a cav was turned away and said they had to be muzzled full stop. Not just carried. Sucks. I wanted to take Koda, and its an excellent place for puppy socialisation so i was hoping it would last a few years and i'd be able to take future pup there!
  15. Have just popped in to see how he was doing, so sorry you have had to make the decision. Mac was such a lucky boy to have had you and had a wonderful life being loved fully. big hugs.
  16. Cavalier? - Small, love outings, playful but not rough (Mostly :D), grooming wise just a quick brush or clip, do have health concerns but good breeders decrease this chance (all of mine are healthy), mine do agility, love hiking etc. But some can be less outgoing. But Haredown is right, the gun dogs are all larger or coated! A few breeds i don't know too much about but spring to mind: Nova scotia duck tolling retriever, cockers, the springers, brittany spaniel, sheltie, chinese crested (can get the powderpuffs :) ) or you've got the terriers- they are certainly lively  Fox terrier, schnauzer, bedlington, wheaton, westie etc.
  17. I saw this on FB a few times. Its quite sad RIP Diesel
  18. ...this strategy is not 100% safe, e.g. there might be a 5% likelihood that the dog will suffer from an adult heartworm depending on the drug used, more info here on Wikipedia, see Prevention. If its heart guard you are using then its safe to give at any point of the worm lifecycle. So that 5% wouldn't matter. Other drugs may.
  19. I split tablets for my dogs, and split a spot on for my cats :) But all are in the same weight range, so a 1/4 tablet works easily.
  20. I just have a storage container, with snaps on all the edges. like one of these- but its has about 6 clips rather than 2 at each end. I bought it at bunnings. No Ant, dog or cat issues yet. I don't know how fresh it keeps it, like rover it just goes in songs and gets scattered on the lawn occasionally- so also lasts forever- but the dogs still seem to enjoy it
  21. The link above is good, and many breeders are more than happy to send a pup interstate too- so don't discount that :)
  22. Kokoda- whilst a spaniel- is a toy breed, but oh my lord he is crazy. Zig zagging everywhere, head down, checking fence lines for geckos, in bushes etc. He's a maniac. He walks also in a loose lead heel if i can be bothered enough to continuously shove treats in his mouth And probably would if i trained him to do it always, but it doesn't bother me enough. I tend to agree with this :)
  23. I have a friend with a beagle who she trains agility and canine disc with- he is fabulous! When he is working he seems to ignore all the smells. He is also trained in scent detection- so gets to do plenty of smelling too :) There was also a beagle who walked down our street for YEARS until she passed, she always walked in a straight line, loose lead, tail up and wagging- so it can be done :D
