  1. I've only ever personally had males, and Kokoda is the only one who buries things. not sure whether the females i grew up with did! I belive Ali did, one of the GSD's, as there are many photos of her in holes with bones, but i think she dug the holes for herself more than the bones
  2. Love it! the dogs escaped Easter torture this year and my foster kittens stepped in instead :D And Deniki did help himself to a bite chocolate Easter bunny He was too happy with himself too
  3. I think iam only up to 11? or maybe 12. Easter kittens :D
  4. I know quite a few people who have both Cavaliers and Rottweilers, not a mix you'd thi of, but it seems to work! My friend has one, he'd be around 2 now, he is such a goofball. Thinks he's a lapdog..
  5. All the vizslas I know are smaller than gsps, and a little less intense. Though I do only know one male vizsla and I believe he is small for the breed. I also love their russet colouring. So if I were you I'd sway that way I think :) I used to dogsit a vizsla frequently, did so for years, every weekend she would come to my house, quite a lot of work, even when I met her as as a 5 year old! But a lovely dog. I would love one someday to do retrieving and agility with. But yes, just be honest with the breeders so they can match you with a dog :) ETA: the vizslas are getting more and more popular, so just be wary of the less ethical breeders This is Amber and baby koda sneaking in for a nap with her. She was the greatest dog
  6. Oh it definitely is.. So many cavalier owners in a facebook group I am in don't walk their dogs for fear of ticks etc. yes it's a chance they may get it, and they may die if you then don't check them over, but that's no reason not to walk them..n
  7. The only big big beds I know are henry hottie beds, but then they arue rather expensive, so the single/cot mattress may be the way to go :)
  8. she was beautiful! So sorry for your loss
  9. Week 10: Two of my three foster kittens, they are about 2 and a bit weeks old. this is Finn smothering his sister Raven :D
  10. Wow- what an interesting mix! He was gorgeous :)
  11. It was great! a and seven looked awesome :D
  12. I don't think that is actually possible. Post away :D
  13. stainless steel, ceramic or glass are better in terms of not harbouring germs supposedly. I've always just had them because they tend to look nicer and last longer. Terracotta bowls are good at keeping water cool in summer if its outdoor, but all of my bowls are just stainless steel. Large ones for water, small ones for food :) The food ones have non slip bottoms- these ones :) I've had one of them since my first dog, so for 13 years now and it still looks good as new! http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/DSSBOWL?gclid=CPfk7_DIyMsCFYcrvQodhVIPmg&gdftrk=gdfV25674_a_7c2113_a_7c7895_a_7c5141#.VusU1c7yfTQ
  14. Oh no How terrible. So sorry for your friends.
  15. I think it really should be, but alas, it is not. its the same with grooming. Joe bloggs could grab some scissors and declare himself a groomer just as easily as i can open up a training facility simply because i own dogs. (not that thats even a requirement ) Though there is qualifications etc. about that can help choose a good one :)
  16. me too! And my sister was sitting next to me just looking at me like "what is wrong with you??" i thought it was going to be a happy movie. But no. At least the cinema was dark
  17. doesn't look like it was breathing easily in any of the clips i saw And I own a Brachy breed, not as severe i agree, yes. It is a much starker contrast between what it is vs should be for the GSD, but no less important. I also know that you aren't saying it is Kavik. Just because its to sit on a lap and look pretty doesn't mean it should have no muzzle, bowed front legs and an odd topline. He is cute though, like a giant pom pom
  18. I haven't seen it but various people have mentioned a photo going around of the owner just sobbing, hugging her dog. On the day her dog won BOB at the biggest dog show in the world. I've read quite awful posts about how the owner should be charged with abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if she's received threats. I wouldn't be surprised nor should she be charged with abuse. Someone elsewhere mentioned the pekingese, i didn't see him, but later watched a vid and he did seem to be really hyperventilating and has an extreme brachy face. As well as a profuse coat, and no apparent legs I went looking for a then and now comparison of pekes and came across this. they are really no structurally better than GSD's, if not even worse. Yet no backlash surrounding them. It is unfair to be concentrating solely on the GSD, because it's not just them. Like the recent great dane thread, they too are affected, and countless others. But i am not convinced that we should continue sweeping it all under the carpet, and if it starts with GSD's, it could be for the better in many breeds. Whilst i am sorry for the owner, it may have brought the breeds best wishes into the spotlight for a better outcome into the future. I do recommend going to this link, even if it is just to watch the adorable video of 5 pekes doing steeplechase racing in 1964 http://www.border-wa...d-a-chance.html
  19. Are dogs vetted? I'm not up on this kind of thing but if the dog has trouble actually getting around the ring could it / should it be disqualified from entering the ring on the day? The dogs are vetted. The BOB was vetted twice apparently, and the owner released the certificate after the uproar began. I also tend to agree with this post: https://www.facebook...156685029735607
  20. You can, as a judge, choose not to put anyone up. its just not a common practice and would have caused even more controversy Snap Kavik
  21. I personally love this dog from NZ (note she is only young in these pics and not yet filled out). She also does agility, as did her dam. However, she has no chance of winning much, if anything, at a conformation show- and i do think thats a shame.
  22. Technically not. Or at least not how i interpret they standard.
  23. I was looking for an answer to JayGee's question, as to my knowledge its just aesthetics and judge preferences? but this is an interesting read http://www.louisdonald.com/the-evolution-of-the-back-of-the-gsd.html
