  1. They are definitely useable- unless the calendar is ginormous :)
  2. omg! That last one is just the cutest thing ever! That could be a calendar. ETA: actually they are both adorable and calendar worthy.
  3. A friend of mine overseas has a blue brindle and a sable merle (though you can barely see the merle), and they are gorgeous!
  4. wow...how did you manage this?...did you step on it or sit on it?.....I had Redbacks crawling over my hands and Huntsmen dropping from the ceiling on my head (when I tried to remove them), but I never got bitten. I heard that white-tailed spiders can be a little bit nasty...and of course the funnel webs, but I actually never saw a funnel web spider here in the Illawarra. We get heaps of them here and nasty is an understatement. They're easily the most aggro spiders I've ever come across and they seem to enjoy hanging out in places you might need at night- I've found them on the bathroom floor, on the towel rack in the bathroom, in the kitchen sink, wandering up the hallway and even in one of the dogs' bowls. They're not the sort of spider you can trap under a glass and take outside, either. The last one I saw, it ran up the hallway at me with its front legs and fangs up, presumably not for cuddles. I threw a shoe at it to buy myself some time and retreated for the flyspray. The only good white-tailed spider is one that is buried under a foamy pile of Mortein. I'll stick to the huntsmen.. That is terrifying.
  5. His life is pretty good, it's pretty much a celebration every day, so I don't think he would mind skipping a day :D I just can't believe I have had him for 5 years! Thank you ! Haven't met another Kokoda yet either  Marg is correct, he is a cavalier :)The greatest of small dog breeds :D
  6. Im a terrible owner. I missed Kokoda's 5th Birthday, even though we celebrated Deniki's 3rd a week earlier with treats and a new ball. Thankfully dogs have no knowledge of anything like that and Kokoda doesn't like toys  Coincidentally, we did go bushwalking on the day- so he was happy :D So Happy birthday Kokoda!
  7. A bit OT, but on the opposite side of that, we had a client who came in, her dog had the kennel couch vac. then she went home, called us back and pretty much abused us for not giving her dog the whole vaccine like we had done in previous years. i had to explain that the AVA policy has changed (changed much later than it should might i add) and that your dog doesn't need a vaccine every year. But to bring her back if you wanted to pointlessly spend $100 to overload your dogs system
  8. Yes i too would suggest it just automated. The program we use at work is very annoying to remove reminders from, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened at our clinic. Though two of the three vets would definitely not scoff at someone who does their own research and is wanting to take a conservative approach. The other may try to convince for the typical 6 months. We often have to gauge how committed an owner is, and love it when owners research themselves and bring in things :) If your vet doesn't, I'd say find a new one who does appreciate that :)
  9. This is my worst nightmare = spider in car. me too! I don't mind them if they are just sitting still on a wall that is not my bedroom, or in a web or similar, but on ceilings and in cars or if they are crawling - nope nope nope. This stems from an experience i had as a small child, i was rollerblading and a ginormous one crawled out of my rollerblade, up into my shirt and then onto my shoulder. of course i ran around screaming and my mum thought i was just being stupid and told me to go away It was traumatising. Anyway, off topic. My dogs have never come across a small snake to my knowledge, but we did come across a python whilst hiking, about 2M long (he was huge! probably would have eaten one of my dogs ) and they literally jumped right over him. Didn't notice the snake at all  They know to avoid toads though without training, so hopefully that would extend to a snake. Though Kokoda does chase lizards.. so i don't have high hopes for him.
  10. i think cats like this do ok because people like me take pity on them  i'd own a collection of misfit animals if i could. id take him in a second! ETA: A lady i knew had a three legged cat called Mia, which stood for Missing in action because she was slow. Its a bit of a cruel name, but also funny if you are cruel like me Mia lived a very spoilt life and was very loved :)
  11. 8/52 the boys enjoying a swim :) I thought that if the Loch ness monster and cerberus the 3 headed dog had a child- this would be the resulting offspring  Edit to fix link:
  12. happy birthday! I love all the photos :D
  13. I thought the exact same thing about the rear assembly, and i am still a newbie to canine structure. It just looks so wrong to me!
  14. great photos!! And adorable kittens. Makes me want another :)
  15. This is a great dane?! It looks like a mastiff cross!
  16. I am a vet nurse, so i would be perfectly fine to stabilise the dog to get to the nearest vet- but couldn't do anything beyond that- not that its needed beyond that really :) I keep both a dog and human kit in my car. Eta: thankfully have had to use neither!
  17. Yes, same as TSD, with 3 dogs and one being a rescue with some exclusions it just wasn't worth it to me. I self insure and put money away into a pet account. Kokoda was insured originally but i paid about $2k in insurance and got nothing for it, so decided not to when the others came along. Though- i do also work in a vet clinic so get discounted everything, not that my pets have needed it yet *touch wood.* Insurance is a gamble really and sometimes it pays off completely!
  18. If i lived there i would ignore it. I probably just wouldn't register my dog at all. Totally ridiculous. And also just up the coast- Brisbane better not even think about introducing this.
  19. wow! They are just divine and great photos
  20. The 4 cavs for week 7! And sorry- won't need to catch up so much next week :D
  21. Week 6: My sisters pup- looking very grown up! on an outing from yesterday :)
  22. Week 5: Believe it or not- she is a polar bear :D just a tad dirty!
