  1. Don't worry - even small dogs can be a pain. I got in touch with someone about doing a custom merino shirt for Scott the other day - he's such an odd size - biggest little dog I ever did own. Anyhow - she seemed to think one of her smalls would be fine - off the shelf so to speak. Then I measured him and he's an XL in the chest... but the rest would swim on him. You've reminded me too - must get back to her. deniki is one of those. He is built like a whippet almost.. Really long in the back. But really narrow. Deep chested, but with a big tuck up. So awkward. So anything long enough is too wide and too deep- so never fits nicely. And he's the one that needs them!
  2. i love comparison photos! And have made up a few to share :D Deniki and Kokoda - 2013 and now. The crew (my 3 + my sisters pup) 2015 - now Kokoda 2011- 2014 (i think) Deniki 2013 to now And my favourite i think, Deniki and Kokoda 2011 to now  Deniki is faster than Koda now :D
  3. That reminds me of this photo! It was so cold, middle of winter- 2 years ago i think. My pool is cold as it is because it is so shaded all year round. But the water was SO cold- numbingly so. Dumb dog decides to jump in for a swim- in his coat.. He will swim year round, come out shivering like crazy and go back for more..
  4. [quote name='Willem' timestamp='1461027053' post='6805956'] some light reading regards this topic http://www.telegraph...s-in-coats.html bit of a pointless article. I don't think anyone here is dressing their dogs in fashionable dresses and pet clothing other than a winter jacket for cooler days? my dog loves his jacket. Really don't think he cares. Nor am i dressing him to bring attention to me. I don't dress him for fashion. I dress him because he needs it and it keeps him out from underneath my doona all day! and for henry as he is older. Please tell this to Deniki, who not only has a very sparse coat on his back that is completely UN-resistant to elements, but has no hair on his neck, belly or back of his thighs. Genetically, he is just weird. Feels both the heat and the cold to extremes, so has a jumper for both cooling, and warming. My dogs are long-haired, but are not double coated.
  5. Wow! Lucky girl. And what a cool litter too :)
  6. Behind again! 13: My chicken Merida enjoying a dustbath. Week 14: Raven, my foster kitten. You know you want her :D Most of my photos have been of the kittens lately. The poor dogs must feel shafted.

  8. I do agree with this. I think we should have some form of canine good citizen test, that includes both canine and owner education. Though that then is expensive to roll out country wide. Even if they limited the dogs allowed in more places to these dogs, and have them wear a blue collar or something like the GAP greyhounds do here in QLD (though theres is green:D ) And i also agree with this. Its hard to socialise a dog to situations when they aren't ever allowed into the situations to become accustomed to them. I don't feel the need to go shopping with my dog, but more dog friendly cafes would be lovely, extra beaches, parks etc. would be very much appreciated. I'd also love the option of being able to take them on the train. I used to take my dogs to watch my sisters Saturday sport until the grounds banned dogs. He used to get so excited going there and loved his morning out. ETA: i will share this in my relevant dog groups for you :)
  9. I'd say the middle step is just additional pram work. So you introduce the stationary pram in the distance, getting focus, then bring it closer. That's step 1. Then 2. Would be introducing the moving pram at a distance, asking for focus, and moving it gradually closer as she does well. 3. Take a few steps next to the pram. Then progress to walking around a bit more, then full walks :) And all of these steps should be practiced in a variety of locations- inside, outside, front yard, backyard, down the roads at the park etc :) It won't be a super quick fix, but it will be worth it in the long run!
  10. My guys are also raw fed, like roova I dehydrate my own things, but anything can be done really- liver to make liver treats, muscle meat, heart, fish etc. If I am at home, I just use raw meat though. Chicken hearts are great, or just their cut up meat from their meals into smaller bits. Alternatively if you don't want to handle raw meat, you can boil it, either until it's fully cooked or until the outside is cooked and the inside is still raw. I also use ziwipeak dog food as a treat, it seems expensive, but it's cheaper than buying liver treats, many healthier. I also make tuna fudge, which is pretty much what roova posted. Not super healthy, but they love it!
  11. They are usually fed raw and they get switched to kibble if we go on holidays, or they are left with their dog sitter, and as treats in their kong wobblers. I feed in a rotation, i always go the grain free varieties because of Henry. Who is allergic to a few grains. But i am not really brand loyal at all  Black hawk is good. Though i wasn't super happy with their coats, they did seem to dull- mainly Deniki, but i do like that its an Aussie brand. I do love Earthborn, they all do well on it, especially the fish variety. Also, they really liked Sunday Pets. The biscuits are really large, like 5cm x 2cm like a dog treat. Possibly why they loved them  though i only used the one large bag of SP on the three of them, so i wasn't sure how their coats would be long term. Over 3 weeks we didnt see a change for the better or for worse. Artemis osopure i have used, they all liked it, even Deniki who is a fuss pot. But i did only get the small bag because it was half price and it was a minor part of their diet, so am not sure of the quality :) i have also used taste of the wild in the past on Kokoda- he had that and ziwipeak for a large portion of his younger years and his coat was fabulous. The VIP unfortunately didnt agree with Henry- his coat went very dry The others were fine though :) This rambling may or may not have helped
  12. IMO, even if there is fights and squabbles, it sure beats starving to death on the streets.
  13. I only have the fostering email, which is foster.deathrowunchained "at" gmail.com It may be quicker to try through the facebook, but either way i hope they can help :)
  14. Deathrow unchained may I've done some grooming for their rescues in the past, lovely people :) they are in the brisbane/goldcoast area. Send them a message.
  15. yes, i agree. So much cheaper to DIY. pretty much the only treats i buy now are pizzles, and occasionally ziwipeak too. ETA: its also nice to know how fresh they are and whats in them :)
  16. I bought a cheap dehydrator from one of those deals sites and make fun things in there, dehydrated chicken breast, liver, heart etc. The dogs also love tuna fudge :) Sometimes i make salmon or sardine fudge - lots of recipes on google. But it can be a bit crumbly sometimes. My dogs love it though. Or just boiled chicken or offal for a quick and easy treat (but yes, needs the fridge and to be used quickly unless frozen!)
  17. I like secret. I also know a secret, she lives with a friend overseas. They call her "seeky" as a pet name, amongst other similar variations. But it is similar-ish to inky ETA: both super cute. And you can always incorporate the other/both into the registered name?
  18. Maddy that last bit is so true! sometimes all you can do is hit the x in the corner.
  19. i have no idea how that happened! I I didn't even try and reply to that other thread, and just pressed the quote button in this one.. My iPad hates it when I visit dol and try to reply to things  So bizarre,
  20. Great to hear she is responding, i have been checking in hoping for a good update :) that made me laugh! Would probably work though!
  21. Yes, i agree. I would have got rid of Facebook long ago except it is so widely used for other things i need it for- ie. committees i am on, my uni group work etc. Though i am in a few groups i do like, and have learnt a lot from. I now am just better at ignoring the idiots  I get most of them in the raw feeding group, they come in stating all these bogus facts. The most recent being, only huskies can eat meat because they aren't as domesticated
