  1. I tried to give my dogs some leftover smoothie yesterday because it didnt fit in my glass, and they all turned their noses up at it!
  2. I dont feed it myself, if i did it would be the grain free variety as there are quite a few grains in the other. Most people i know feed it with kangaroo :) But no harm (in fact probably better) if you switch it up a bit. Chicken and beef would be easy sources also.
  3. Hi all, A while ago i remember reading an article or report about the RSPCA euthanising the animals in their care and for what reasons. Within it, was the story about a mother and her litter of 8 week old pups who were euthanised for being "shy." I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was? More-so the case of those pups. Who were supposedly otherwise healthy animals. Or if i have just gone completely bonkers and this is not actually a thing. Nothing i can google comes up with it- just about how they are no-kill!
  4. wow! Definitely the best ive seen. So talented.
  5. Not bad for a 1st (or 2nd) attempt! I too prefer beard short (in terms of both looks, and cleanliness), but i have a few clients who like them longer. Its definitely a personal preference thing.
  6. This belongs in "Other'. Lovely as the stories are, they have nothing to do with pedigree dogs. Wow. Whats got your panties in a bunch? I have now made it more about pedigree dogs. but its equally as off topic as some other posts often in general discussion. Sorry Troy. Please move it. This belongs in "Other'. Lovely as the stories are, they have nothing to do with pedigree dogs. Let me make it about pedigree dogs then...... 2 of my border collie girls are super similar. In looks and temperament. Both small, stocky girls with wavy coats. Both would have jumped off a cliff to follow me. They aren't from the same kennel but have dogs in common in their pedigree. Similar lines. All my border collies have been quite similar because I've picked dogs with similar lines. My 2 boys were very similar too. Both big boofy boys who loved everyone. That to me is what makes a good pedigree dog. The lines breeding true so you know what you are getting. I met a puppy I had bred when she was in her twilight years and it was like meeting her mother. Bittersweet. It is a great thing isnt it. So cool that the lines in your case are so true as well :) Can't say i have experienced the same with my dogs yet.
  7. I saw this trailer and someone else asked me my thoughts on reincarnation so thought id ask on DOL. Perhaps this is the reason pedigree dogs breed true- because they are the same dogs again and again :D I didnt, but at the risk of sounding insane, i swear 100% my most recently deceased cat has come back reincarnated as my current one. They are just so similar in almost every way, and from day 1 at 5 weeks old Scrat just had my heart and seemed to belong. Todd my previous boy was only with me for about 2 years after just walking in as a kitten. Do you believe that your pets can come back in another life? Have you ever experienced it? Please share your stories and pics if you have :)
  8. Yes I agree with Maddy. I dont have a whippet but one of my dogs has a very deep chest and narrow torso like a whippet, and these are one of the only harnesses that i can adjust to fit him comfortably. Not the cheapest, but very well made :)
  9. I have Deniki, who trains in agility and dabbles in flyball training. Kokoda- who did do agility but is now just an active petHenry, old and lazy. And a bit fat at the moment And currently live with my sister and her dog, Harley. Who is an active pet who I do a bit of agility training with :) I want to take him lure coursing as I think he'd be incredible. He's so fast.
  10. I work with dogs professionally - as a dog groomer and doggy daycare owner- So see my fair share of these dogs. Recently, I have seen a bigger swing towards purebred dogs in my area. Vizslas, Japanese spitz, schnauzers, red setters, daschunds, pugs and frenchies of course etc. But the oodles are definitely still very trendy. And this is where most of it started- I think In my area in particular the oodles became a bit of a status symbol. As well as being "completely hypoallergenic", healthy because of "hybrid vigour", available immediately from some pet store or online 'breeder' and practically magical creatures who essentially just have a well marketed sales pitch behind them. My favourite crosses seem to be the standard poodle x golden retriever and cavalier x poodles as they seem to produce the more attractive, calm yet social ones. As many of the others are more often than not in my experience a bit neurotic. Though of course there are exceptions. Most of those I see, do still shed! Most of them, have health issues and no "hybrid vigour" I'm not against cross breeding BUT I'm against the way that almost all of these dogs are bred. Eg. No health testing, no regard for the parents conformation, breeding for colour, coat or size. And am definitely against their price tags. What baffled me more was the day I overheard someone proudly saying they will be getting a cavalier x cocker pup. WTH is the purpose of that cross?! I bit my tongue there. My friends always come to me about dogs- so I have successfully educated and steered 3 families towards well bred purebred dogs now ????
  11. I have always adored Salukis, but didn't think they suited me at all. I was obviously wrong :D Did get a cav down the bottom. Wouldn't own any terrier or beagle though. Wouldn't like grooming a beardie either haha Eta: the clumbers are too heavy, the Keeshond too spitzy and not as trainable as I like them  and I'm not a fan of most dockers either. Though would have a springer.
  12. I thought so but I didn't dare say in case I got it wrong so I just took the safe option. I would have too  They are still a shepherd :D
  13. Its a malinois :) I saw this vidoe yesterday and could just watch it forever. it is so fascinating!
  14. We get a few of these, and pug x beagles. Not a fan of the look of either mix, but Yep. It's a cross bred dog. Probably bred without any health testing of sire and dam and sold for more than a pure bred. Yes,Frenchie x pug - Usually cheaper than a pure frenchie for those who want the trendy dog but dont want to pay the price for one
  15. So gorgeous! A friend of mine has 3 brittanys, she says they are very addictive- so maybe watch out for that :D
  16. I groomed a German shepherd x corgi once. That was a strange looking dog, almost just a GSD with teeny legs, but a bit larger than a normal corgi.
  17. I went to congratulate someone on their purebred affenpinscher pup not too long ago, but did ask what the breed was first, and it was a pug x shih tzu! As a pup looked almost exactly the same, would love to see what it looks like now
  18. These 'borderjacks are very popular 'sport mixes' overseas. These and bordercollie x staffies and border x whippets. The new thing i believe is papillon x border collie...
  19. Thats so exciting! Thanks for that, i did always wonder what the scores were out of. I always assumed 10  !
  20. Ive been waiting for this to hopefully give me some ideas  I was thinking a few more food stuffable toys- like kongs or the tretkons. Maybe some new leads. My siste rbought her dog a teepee
  21. great shots! She looks so happy :D She is a very solid dog, but has such long legs! Which is quite unusual i feel. Do you know what breeds she is?
  22. I thought the same about Kokoda until i saw him catch and kill a bearded dragon. It was brutal
