  1. Someone at the dog park yesterday asked me if i knew what breed of dog that is *she pointed to a(n adorable!) staffy pup* I said "yes, thats a staffordshire bull terrier, a staffy." They said " Oh, aren't they the ones that eat babies?" So I said "No that's dingoes." And left her to her musings about baby eating dogs. Some people are strange :) And not in a good way!
  2. I love that knuckle test! I had never heard of that before, thanks for sharing :)
  3. That is terrible.. Poor woman. But I do like the fact that this article does not mention the dogs breed at all and is not pinning it on a bully type breed, which happens way too often..
  4. They are good questions :) I don't think i would report them without first pointing it out to the owners, educating them (politely) and trying to help. I would report it only if the dog was obviously uncomfortable, struggling to walk/move, difficulty breathing, heat stress etc. or if it was so obese that i just couldn't stand to look at it. I think overfeeding is just as bad as underfeeding. They are just killing them with kindness :)
  5. I admit that i am a bit touchy when people tell me my dog is too skinny. But thats because he is actually at a perfectly healthy weight and the thing on the end of their leash resembles a pot-bellied pig. So its only that aspect of it that gets to me. I did have a fat dog and i didn't mind if people commented on that. Because i knew he was, and i would then just tell them that we're working on that. But as a rule i don't tell people their dogs are fat unless they comment on it first.
  6. I love the plush puppy products. But don't use them often at all. I also love the aloveen shampoo and conditioner. The smell of it is my favourite :) and i use the conditioner as a leave in. But I have currently been using fido's tea tree shampoo :)
  7. That is so exciting! She is gorgeous.
  8. Thank you very much everyone, It is much appreciated :) I know ! I was lazy and just used their premade breed list. Its lacking a rather large amount of common dog breeds. I know for next time to just make my own list!
  9. Hi DOLers, I am currently doing my year 12 Business Organisation and Management assignment and in this class we have to write a business plan for a viable business. I have chosen a dog sitting/dog walking business as my business and was hoping you would be able to fill out my 10 question survey for me seeing as you all own dogs. It would be much appreciated! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CPNMQ27 Thank you in advance Note to ADMIN: If this isn't ok, just let me know and I can delete the post. Edit for spelling.
  10. I have done that :) I cut them into little cubes and then put them in separate packets and froze them. Just defrost them in the morning if you plan to use them for the day. I used the 4legs natural rolls and they stayed in cubes, however the egg pumpkin and rice one did not completely. The orange bit in the middle was softer and just crumbled. I still use d it but it was much messier! I am sure the other brands work just as well though.
  11. They are gorgeous! I am starting to feel the puppy fever creeping back in..
  12. Thank you for such a quick reply :) That is wonderful news. I will look in to getting him registered .
  13. I have never done an ET before but I am very interested in doing this, if i am unable to with my current dog i will defiitely with my next dog :) Can you compete in an endurance test with an unpapered dog? I would love to train Kokoda and get his fitness up and to hopefully do this once he is 2 years old, but i read somewhere that you have to have a pedigree papered dog? Kokoda is a purebred but doesn't have papers.. Would someone be able to help me with this? If it helps i am in QLD, but would tarvel to take him to an ET if interstate is the only place that allows him.
  14. I would say stay away from any of the skip tooth blades as they are alot more dangerous to use, and definitely not recommended for beginers. I am another fan of the Wahl KM2, however lots of people quite like andis.
  15. I saw this on sunrise, she is such a cute dog. Very smart and brave. I am glad she survived. she looked so happy to be with her family too.
  16. That really sucks WA, hope you get a certificate from somewhere! Kokoda: ~ Complete crate games ~ Get him to loose lead walk ALL the time, not just when he feels like it ~ Teach him to tug in high distraction environments ~ Get his recall to 95% or higher success rate ~ Get more drive ( Just joined agility club so..) ~ Complete and Pass elementary course ~ Progress to next course ~ Hopefully teach 2 x 2 weave method (have the dvd ready) But mainly just have fun with everything Me: ~ Be more fun ~ Be more patient ~ Stress Less Hopefully most of these will work out for us.
  17. I am so excited! For me, it was AUD$401 on the 24th of November.
  18. I am doing it. It was $402 for me also. I am doing the brilliant version. My dog is very game oriented so this should work great,. Plus i am a huge fan of Susan Garrett ;) I am glad i have another couple of recallers here! My dog is a bit like your signature of Ziva! I dont want to come yet. so i will go chase this bird instead
  19. Hi there, I am kinda new around here. I have been here for a little bit, just hanging around on the edges. So firstly I will say hi! I have an almost 10 month old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that I am hoping to do agility with. But I was just wondering if any dol'ers have signed up to be a recaller 3.0? This is the first time I have done the recallers course, and i am hoping it will be as great as everyone said! Also, just a side topic. Clean run has free shipping at the moment. So what DVD's/books should i get?
