  2. I am going to start again- failed miserably last year, and am needing to catch up- but here are a few from my trip away to San Diego :) Please tell me if they are ginormous- i am just stealing the Facebook link as none of these are on flickr- if they are huge i will transfer them :) 1/52- A wild sea lion on the cliffs at la Jolla! 2/52
  3. Happy birthday!! 17 is great :) Enjoy your day darling boy!
  4. There is a tiny petshop near me that encourages people to bring their dogs to try a range of enrichment toys and treats/ foods. they have a bunch of different food toys- some that i havent seen before and give them to you and your dog to try to see which is best for you. Perhaps something like this? Gives people a try before you buy type thing for both treats and toys :) Theres a very popular pet cafe here that sell "puppachinos" for your pet while you enjoy a coffee- its always pretty busy.
  5. under a rock! Plenty of photos to stalk thorugh here: http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/250847-widget-from-big-belly-to-babies/page__pid__6789216__st__1125#entry6789216 :D
  6. Good update :) Love it when things are cheap! I pronounce it tit-er.. because its easy to say  but i believe it is tyt-er as in titration :)
  7. So sorry about your girl. I am in the same situation at the moment, my cat passed away last Thursday whilst i was overseas. He was only 2/3 ish years old- so it was a very sudden shock to me And i am really wanting another cat at home, i just miss having one around (and in the way, and on my keyboard, and the bench etc!), but also feel it may be seen as "replacing him" and "not caring about him at all" to others, and even to myself a tad really.. So understand your hesitation completely. I'd like to be able to tell you to ignore the other people, but i have the same worries  When my first dog passed away i vowed i wouldn't get one for at least a year. However i just couldn't wait that long, saw the perfect litter, picked the perfect pup and a few months later brought home Kokoda. I don't regret it one bit. But Tikira is right, i love all my pets individually, and am lucky enough to have multiple dogs so something like this is very unlikely to occur to me- but i really don't think i could be dog-less, and if i were in a situation like yours i would likely bring home a furry friend quite quickly. Even if it was just a foster. Just do what you think is right- if you miss out on this dog, it wasn't meant to be and the perfect dog will be waiting :)
  8. So sorry about Renae It is never easy. You will see her again one day, and she will live in your hearts until then. The cloud is beautiful!
  9. Maybe one of the FROMM formulas? or Acana? I have some friends overseas who now feed both of these to their dogs and are doing well on it. Possibly look into turmeric golden paste too- anti inflammatory. I give it to henry for his arthritis, but its helped with his skin too!
  10. I agree- such a quick 12 months! Great video. She has grown into such a beautiful dog
  11. Is this a brand of raw you recommend? I'm considering raw for my dogs but I honestly can't find enough hours in the day to make my own 'formula'. Vets all natural is a mix of dry things that you add a mince to, there is a grain free and regular version, other brands are fully premade and fresh (so come frozen) like DR B's, Big Dog BARF, canine country, raw 4 paws etc. I've never used VAN, but some swear by it :) There are many premade raws around nowadays :)
  12. omg! they are just divine! Congrats Kirislin and Neko :)
  13. I wouldn't suggest any Spitz breed as a first dog really.. Er.. I've met a few chows, and I wouldn't be recommending them for a first time owner. But email a few breeders and ask if it would suit. Best way to start! These were my thoughts also.
  14. Yes, i too had the opposite. My dog died very suddenly at the age of 7. And only just 7 too. I messaged his breeder and both his parents, and grandparents were all still going strong! So it is just a bit unfortunate at times, and there is no predicting it
  15. I know- i haven't heard of one needing a plaster either. Very different!
  16. You are correct- many people on this forum work, however will spend much of their time outside of work with their dog, take them out, provide mental stimulation, spend weekends with them. You can't just come home from work and relax, or do other things alone- you will need to get the dog out and about to provide it with a bit of something new, then play with it, groom it etc. Especially if it has been penned all day- it will be right at your feet wanting attention! Especially toy breeds- who were bred to be companions first and foremost :) That is the main thing i, as someone who work a few days a week- morning till evening, would tell you. There is no such thing as just coming home to put your feet up! The dogs rely on you to keep them happy, fit and entertained :) And not being able to provide that walk or something extra after you get home i would again be one of those who suggest a cat would be better suited. The days i work my dogs are walked before i leave, then again when i get home in the evening. They are also left with food toys, a variety of toys that get switched around, and each other (i have 3). Even then they at times can get up to mischief! re. registered breeders. I assume you have found dogzonline.com.au- given you are on the forum, but a registered breeder will be a member of a canine control council- be it NSW, QLD etc. And you may also wish to contact these guys for help if this boy doesn't work out :) : http://pomclubnsw.org/index.php/news/ or http://www.chihuahuaclubofnsw.com
  17. All mine got dharf bowties  and i wrapped some bully sticks, pigs ears and a pack of treats for them to rip open too :D
  18. I thought so! i have definitely seen pictures previously. but wasn't sure if it was natural or not.
  19. I too am fine with medical research on animals. Many cures for diseases in the past have come from animal research and like MRb said vets also benefit. However this freaks me out a bit.. I feel this research could very well end up in the wrong hands..
  20. a year old already?! Wow time has flown! happy birthday Handsome :D Kokoda has the same harness and approves :D
  21. It looks like a remote control car! That one at the end in the second link made up a fair bit of ground! I was just wondering the other day if they still raced whippets.
  22. Even upside down! Must be a good bed :D
