  1. I'm beginning to lose faith in them after I have now encountered my second chip that has failed to scan. The first dog I know was chipped because it was inserted in my presence, scanned and recorded for health checks and then could not be located 12 months after. The second was implanted as per requirements, scanned successfully for a few years and then failed to scan and be found this year at the vet. We also went through a period where a Council employee was simply throwing transfers and updates in the trash, rather than entering the data.
  2. I think you'll fit at least 4 custom made crate into your prado along with the drawers. If you sketch something up, I can see a divider behind the front seats and another where you would normally have your cargo barrier. Split that on two, with your access via the rear doors. Then have another two facing the rear.
  3. If you want a real laugh, read the "breed standard" and what shaped box would that head be
  4. I give a c3 at eight weeks plus, then one a month after that and another 12 months after the second.
  5. where has Mr Rolly Eyes gone and surprise surprise McGreevy needs another 250K
  6. I live with no after hours ranger service so we call the vet and more often than not drop the dog into the kennels. There are no council drop off pens and our poor vet keeps the dogs until they either locate the owner or the ranger eventually comes and picks them up a few days later. I've taken a small kitten home, had him scanned (no chip) and opted to call all vets and rangers in the area and post on social media. He was reunited with his owner via social media, as a stray entire kitten (male) without a chip he would have been euth'd straight away. Under no circumstances will I keep a dog, it's straight to the vet/pound as it's the best place for an owner to locate their animal. I always post on social media. It makes me sick to the stomach to think that if one of mine ever got out, someone would think it's ok to keep it.
  7. Is a fat dog in the ring more or less acceptable than major conformation faults ? Should a leaner dog without type, temperament, correct structure and soundness be awarded over an otherwise good example but fat example of the breed? You be the judge
  8. Fat dogs exist everywhere and not just the show ring.
  9. My Whippet doing it with class and style at a mock lure course trial.
  10. Not in Sydney but I can thoroughly recommend Anna-Lee from Yukan. She has many years of owning, breeding and commitment to the breed.
  11. I don't think they are rare either, they are plenty of great breeders about. Expect to pay $1000 to 1500 for a well bred puppy.
  12. Nahh Maddy not your money, this time it's the GRNSW. I'm pretty sure though it will be a waste, just like the tens of thousands that Dogs NSW handed over to that man.
  13. pffftt McGreevy has always been in it for himself as for the results, they will be a direct reflection of the anti racing, anti dog and the average rescue numpty.
  14. The results should make for some interesting reading. I have a feeling that this will soon be all over the anti pages and they'll be encouraging all their supporters to respond in a particular way. To be honest, I doubt anything useful will come of this particular survey but I am pleased to see GRNSW are (apparently) looking to make changes based on welfare science, rather than whatever is best for trainers or whatever the anti racing people demand. My thoughts exactly. I spent quite a while completing it last night and then thought why have I bothered. ETA: and to top it off McGreevy is involved so what a complete waste of time it has been.
  15. I doubt there is any SBT in that puppy, there is not a breed hallmark to be seen.
  16. This and this is the very reason that other dogs owners walk in fear if they do so at all. Too many idiots with dogs they cannot or refuse to control. The attack on my race dog effectively ended his career. The time before that one of my dogs was attacked and she was pregnant. The one before that one of my SBT's decided to fight back and I was injured breaking it up, I should have just let my dog finish the other one off. I have no sympathy for idiot owners and their roaming dogs and can certainly see why a council would pursue this one to the end.
  17. Yes they have excluded rescue and volunteers for quite some time and to be frank the behaviour of rescue has been appalling at times. No Council is going to work with any groups or individuals who continually attack and criticise them. It's been seen over and again across the country. fancy that a ranger doing his job and fining people, that's the crux of the matter for quite a few who choose to beat up on him. What he earns or doesn't is a matter between himself and his employer and is certainly no one else's business. Let's keep in mind that they have already been investigated by the RSPCA and they found no significant fault. So is telling the truth here ?
  18. I have heard plenty of locals say that they are sick to death of the conspiracy theories and the constant attacks on Council and the Ranger by some that have it in for both. Who would blame council for shutting down volunteer access to the pound when they have caused trouble and issues for council and the ranger. Cowra appears to be another case of the rescue and save'em'all brigade at their very finest. None of their actions so far have resulted an any improvement (if required) for the dogs. The exact opposite in fact and the dogs lose out on walks and attention because of their actions. Whilst I am disappointed in not receiving a call back from the ranger or a council rep, I have been informed by the other party that they get along well with the ranger and the lack of a return call to them has been the only issue they'd had. My concern has been sent to Council, it's factual and not emotive and I suggest that anyone with genuine complaints and grievance based on first hand experience do the same.
  19. How can you blame a breeder when puppy buyers won't return a puppy for a refund or a replacement ? You can't have it both ways. Shame on any breeder who knowingly sells a puppy with an issue. In this case the new owner should cut their losses and return the pup to the breeder for a full refund and look elsewhere for a puppy that is in good health and has had the best start to life. It doesn't guarantee things won't go wrong, as illness and injury happen to all animals but at least they aren't pushing it up hill from the get go.
  20. The very first thing I ever learnt was to control the head, when you have that either by chain up behind the ears, food in front and the dog focused or depending on the breed your hand holding the flews, you can then work on the rest of it. Dogs often wriggle and fidget when they are not balanced, you need to get the front end right , before you start on the rear.
  21. I've just had an interesting first hand experience (or not) with the ranger. Called Friday to advise of an animal found, left details and as of COB today have not heard back. Owner of lost animal also rang and left message, didn't hear back . Fortunately via other means we've located each other in the mean time. Said animal could have been reunited to owner 3 or 4 days ago if phones were answered or messages checked and returned.
  22. I feed whole salmon heads and also smaller whole bait fish (mackerel pilchards etc) When I can't get the real thing I feed canned mackerel
  23. what she says Personally if I have a dog and bitch at hand I try until I get the first mating and then allow them to mate each day if they want to until the bitch tells him to bugger off. If you prog test and the results says she's ready but she is not willing to mate, what are you going to do then ? I don't believe that bitches who do not mate willingly and whelp freely are worth persisting with.
