I would see a canine physio. Preferably one who is also a Vet and has access to equipment and drugs.

I bought an "app" called Sound Proof Puppy Training. It has a heap of sounds including a lawn mower. I honestly don't know if it is/was worthwhile, cost me $5 and I did use it for my new pup who was frightened of traffic noise and dogs barking. She is less afraid by far of both now but whether it was from using the app or her getting older and braver I'm not sure.

My boy is not the most relaxed dog at all but Brian managed to completely calm him with no effort.

Or why the cover isn't prescribed as medicine/preventative to be given for a short period (example a week; a month) once every two years, instead of keeping the dog's body full of it on a 24/7 basis. Erny, we can only speculate as to why that is the recommendation. Maybe for much the same reason as yearly vaccinations are still advocated by many Vets.

Hi Erny, I'm not giving heartworm medication through the summer months and not during the winter. It is anniek who does that, although I have done this in the past and know of people who still do it. I think in Melbourne it is probably unlikely that there will be an issue doing this given our temperatures. The Vet's reason for blood testing every 2 years is that the problem is a slow developing one and the worms at two years are not big enough o cause a problem to the dog when killed. If, however, they are left until 3 years this would not be the case and there would be a danger to the dog. She says that in Melbourne heartworm is seen occasionally but it is generally in dogs that have travelled to warmer areas where the mosquito is a problem. Like you I have previously monitored the temperatures and the mosquito population and on that basis not used heartworm medication for some time. I guess the addition of a blood test every couple of years is an additional check.

Just wondering if anyone else is going to sign up for the classes being run in January as advertised in the Dec Gazette?

My Vet has recommended I don't give regular treatment for HW but do a blood test every 2 years. This is in Melbourne

Thought, following on from posting photos of my new Airedale puppy it would be a good idea to start a photo thread for this breed. I've been involved with the breed for over 40 years now in my own right. I also grew up with Airedales around the family home and my Grandparents also had them so I guess I am a third generation Airedale enthusiast although the other generations were not involved in breeding or showing just pet ownership. So, anyone with Airedale Terrier photos please feel free to contribute your photos to this topic. This is fed extensively in UK. I know of a lot of people that feed their dogs on this only (with dry food too) so it is fed every day in whatever amount is required for their dog, just like many of us fed chicken. The dogs all seem to do very well on it,

Forgive me VizslaMomma for I have sinned. I have not been posting photos of the adorable Spice on DOL. However, in my defence I did try to post a video last week and failed. I will try again and find some more photos..... and... you are correct she has grown. I realised just how much when I saw some 7 week old puppies yesterday. I received my papers 4 weeks after I picked my puppy up. I know there was a bit of an issue and the breeder could not get the registration done as soon as he would normally do but it still was not long.

Make up a super saturated solution of sugar and water. Soak some cotton wool in the solution and wrap around the foot. Cover with cling film and a plastic bag or something to hold in place and leave as long as you can. Overnight is good. I've had great success with this method which was given to me by my vet years ago.

Print them up yourself or visit Vistaprint and have them done but you will still need to laminate them yourself. Pouches are available at Officeworks etc. Officeworks may even do them for you depending on how many you want.

From what I've seen the longer back is not what I would call a long back. Just longer than the other CS

No personal experience with them but was told by a trainer (Steve Austin) recently that they have no off switch! Physically they are longer and lower in the body than the ordinary Cockers.

I'll be there too. I'm the fat old lady with a 12 week old Airedale puppy. Well I hope to have the puppy but will depend on when she has her vaccinations. I will be at the ATCV display pretty much all day.

Do you try and brush him on the ground? I would get a grooming table with a grooming arm and noose and teach him to stand on that. Any table that is big enough and stable would do but IMO it is worth spending $120 or so to get a proper grooming table. Makes life so much easier and you can do him at your level not bent over him.

I'm pretty sure you can get it from Monash Vet in Oakleigh South Vic. If it is not exactly that it is something very similar.
