Huge hate of mine. We get this a lot when we walk. Mainly Rosie, but Gus isn't a portly retriever, to the point people won't believe he is one? Weird. I think they look great most of the time!

I'd be really concerned, but the pup was on its own territory, might have been a better move to introduce them onneutral ground. That's a huge risk. I have no advice but lots of sympathy. If it comes down to it, don't put your whippy last. Poor old dear deserves some peace! Haha.

Basically, my uncle just sent me a message after seeing our Facebook photos of the dogs at the snow and today I posted a photo of the two of them asleep on the couch when I got home. He said something like 'as long as you know that's not how normal dogs are raised' I get along quite well with him normally, but this really nicked me off. Its not like they live solely inside and always in pyjamas (the photo from the snow that set him off) and never get to be dogs. They're all raw fed, have a large yard and lots of shelter and bedding, pools, fresh water and an hour walk a day. Sure they stay in when its cold/hot/raining excessively or the like and yes, they have coats. Rosie gets cold and Gus looks damn spunky in his leopard fleece coat! I'm not seeking validation or anything (I know my dogs are happy, healthy and very cool), just having a vent and wondering what others experiences was? I've never had it happen before, it seemed so odd. Why should anyone else care? FYI I pretty much said 'normal is what you make it, but our dogs are well adjusted, well behaved and live a great life!'

I'm not saying he should have been PTS, but it does reek of the save everything mentality. Not every dog is long for this world, and we need to accept that sometimes. Also totally blame the owners. Power to his new owners, I wish them all the success ever.

I hope not, if the reports are to be believed and he escapes out on farmland he will be a dead dog if a farmer catches him. --Lhok I was thinking the same thing...

I do agree with you on that, but what happens to all the lines in my dogs pedigree if I tell all the breeders of my problem do you think that they will stop breeding? I doubt it. As I said one of the lines involves one of the best breeders in Australia. That's a cop.out. you're absolving responsibility by saying 'but the other kids were doing it!' Who cares about the lines? The while point of breeding from awesome lines is to better the breed. Your dog may be amazing, but you run the risk of setting those lines back and producing deformed dogs, who then go out into the gene pool and potentially produce more issues. I would think in a breed so favoured by BYB and pet shops you would be keen to keep moving forward, not back.

I'd have broken his jaw when I got out of the shower had it been me. Absolute bastard. I fail to see how his generosity and community standing earn him any leniency though.

Depends what you want etc. Choice.com.au and similar provide good breakdowns sometimes. Read everything carefully though!

Yup. Run a mile! If they can be recognised by the ANKC and choose not too, there's a big warning sign!

I don't think it means much of anything, TBH. A lot of the 'oodle breeders and so on that come thru work are registered with various clubs/associations etc. I could be being pessimistic but it seems like another way to legitimise themselves without being a member of the state body.

Gus doesn't look like a puppy anymore! It really struck me this week, he looks so adult! *disregard my filthy car. Shame!

I put it in bins out for collection too. And don't mind if others do the same! I'd be happy to see someone picking up in our area....haha

I saw that last night! Jeez....

The best is the freeze when he's caught, two legs on the bed and trying to scramble the back end up. We call him the black ninja. Such a fool! Mosley sounds like a spunk. Gotta admire their style! And SG, That is exactly it! Then he starts to snore...

Gus tries to 'sneak' on limb by limb in the dead of night. Hilarious! 37kg of dog, who isn't stealthy at the best of times, crawling onto the bed and freezing when he's busted. Sometimes you just gotta let him win. He gets off when asked though. That's always been the condition.
