Sa Nurse Facing Deregistration Over Bestiality Charges...
Steph M replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in In The News
Yeah I agree. That's no defence. That wouldn't hold for child abuse or sexual assault in humans...why should it for dogs? -
Hi! Most of you here know Gus now, he's running for most spoiled dog title this year with his toddler bed and fancy jammies... For those who don't, this is Gus, the happiest dog in the universe; Gus has a habit of asking for a wee most nights at about 3-4am. He has since he was a pup and we would wake him.to wee at that time (hes almost a year and a half) so I suspect its more habit than that he's busting. He will go when OH comes to bed (12 or so?) And I'm up by 6 to put them out. I know he can hold it longer, he's spent the whole day inside numerous times without incident, and if he happens to sneak onto the bed overnight (much discouraged, but sometimes he does what we call his black ninja routine and I don't wake up enough to shoo him off) he will stay asleep from 10-7. I don't mind if its genuine, but is there a way to break the habit other than ignoring it or work out if it is genuine? Hes really good and always produces on cue so he always does a wee, but it doesn't always mean he needs to, if that makes sense. He will squeeze out a drop if asked and he's just done one and hasn't had a wee inside since 10 weeks. So hard to ignore a cold wet nose or the creepy stare down and breathe down your neck routine he has down pat! And getting up at 3 to go stand in the cold sucks!

In a chicken coop with a cheap round bed? The dog is a baby, cut him some slack.

A Follow On Thread For Those Who Now Have Their Puppy
Steph M replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Puppy Chat
Quite sad not so many new pups at the moment! -
A few times a day, no joke. That or they call to book flights and call back to say the pup never existed. Its revolting and saddening.

I work for a pet transport company and so many people come through saying 'person x has sent my pup/cat/bird through you and I've paid and where do I go to collect?' When no such booking exists. It's preying on the vulnerable and its scummy.

Yay!!! -
They're also selling very expensive Macaws as they have no time for them or something. I'd say scam. Report it to Gumtree.

Thanks for this - I have sent them an email. Did you happen to get a response to this one at all?

Not all smokers have kids. Perhaps it wouldn't occur to them its impacting their pets. I think its good info.

Raineth I'm so sorry but what a charmed doggy life he led! You ought be proud of the time you gave him and the love you both shared.

(4th Dayd Update)(solved)urgent- Puppy Blood In Poo
Steph M replied to ka89's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely a DIFFERENT vet. The vets the pet shops send you to make a lot of money from dodgy pet shop puppies and are essentially paid to look the other way. -
How appalling. I'm emailing with you Perse.

Go to the police. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars. Threats aren't on.

 Love it! Sounds like a story out of James Herriot. I must say that I have often mentioned one of my cat's obsession with food and his intense affection - that he's more feral and over the top than any dog - the wonderful lady I board my kitties with nodded politely when I told her and said she had seen it all. I had an email within 24 hours of his first visit: "I was wrong." My vet was also blown away when this cat's incredible aversiveness to needles was overcome with a liver treat immediately afterwards. The worst dog exaggerations I hear are when the owners tell me "the dog knew it was the wrong thing to do...." Hahaahaha! Sounds like our cat. He's the shark. Mums Shih Tzu is much the same. We had a cattle dog x next door who was a good old yard ornament in our last house and one day it broke a paling off the fence and grabbed Petunia the dog. She lost an eye, horrible experience. I picked her up from the vet and she was so bruised and broken and stitched up she was unrecognisable. The vet said 'now, she won't eat for a few days' I had to laugh, I said I bet she will. She has never missed a meal and he was adamant she wouldn't. I got home and fed Hector the cat and she raced in, bucket and all and snaffled his dinner and then ate her own. That's my girl! Haha.

Heads Up More Breed Specific Legislation On The Table

And that's where the govt could get off their asses and help educate the public. That'd be a better start. -

Yes, exactly. That’s why I specified both separately. Hmmm. Doesn’t make me a proud citizen at all. -

What????? Load of tosh. Think there is becoming a greater need for people to stand to fight this idiocy Mesocephalic I think, not brachycephalic. The term "cephalic" is actually an index used to measure head/skull measurement (width by length). Brachy is short, meso is medium. A Cav would be mesocephalic I believe although I am far from expert on how the measurements are determined. Of course, cavs are savage beasts..... death by licking is so painful from a cav They are not looking into it because they think brachycephalic is anything to do with being dangerous; they are looking into it because of the difficulties brachycephalic dogs can have in regards to breathing :) I wonder what the percentage of the main popular brachy breeds (frenchies, pugs, cavs etc) are from registered ethical breeders? Seems to me like they're fighting the wrong people. How about working with dogs Vic and those doing the right thing and coming down on those who don't, say BYB etc -
This. What the hell are we doing?

Great, let's penalise those who do the right things some more and drive (the already BYB favoured) brachy breed breeding further underground. Awesome.
