Oh the day when we can have a 'nice' collar! Currently just on the cheap ones!
-
Wow. That does not look good. Some of the comments on that are absurd too.

Oh I'd love to know too! Our new pup will be a similar size eventually and I have been looking and looking. He's in a puppia one at the moment, but that should last aprox 1 more week given his growth rate. Haha.

"WE BREED FOR A COMPLETE PACKAGE OF SHORT COMPACT FRAMES WHICH ARE LOW TO THE GROUND AND HAVE XL HEADS, WIDE CHESTS, EXTREME GIRTH, HEAVY BONE MASS, AND RIPPED UP MUSCLE TONE . BULLIES THAT ARE STRAIGHT AN CORRECT WITH GREAT OVER ALL CONFIRMATION, MOVEMENT AND EXCELLENT TEMPERAMENTS." That does not sound like a healthy mix. Sounds like a brick on toothpicks to me. Also, you can pay by bloody paypal? Are you kidding me?! Not only does that look like the douchiest website out, but you can conduct the entire transaction with minimal contact.

I would love one one day. So lovely!

Mine has recently discovered puddles. OH and him walk to pick me up from the station after work, about ten mins, and he has to stop in every puddle and have a little 'swim' Nevermind that it's 10 degrees and pouring... We are going through towels like nobodies business as well. -

Ours has no sense of the rain either. He has outdoor access and the laundry like yours, but at the moment OH is home with him (first day alone tomorrow) He happily goes out and plays with his soccer ball in the pouring rain, doesn't phase him. Good to give him indoor access as it's been pretty fierce weather today so it can't hurt! -
I didn't meet ours, but might be nice to take some bikkies or a cake to share with the breeder and have a chat? I'd have loved the chance to have a cuppa!

Isn't this the most effective way to combat stigma? Kudos to you. She sounds lovely. With regard to the council etc we live in the hub of bogans and bad dogs, bull breeds and not. We're in the west of Melbourne and I walk 20 mins to work each day and I have met one dog that was friendly. A few streets over from us there's two pointer crosses who live in a concrete square penned in by barbed wire and are just the nastiest dogs ever to walk past (understandably so). They have chunks out of the fence the 'pen' is behind which have been patched up repeatedly and the vigour they take to the fence when a person walks past, let alone a dog makes me really worry for the inevitable day they get out. I registered my cats recently and got chatting to the woman at the council who said she was aware of the dogs I was talking about (across the road from a kinder and a Primary school) but despite warnings and visits from the ranger there's nothing much they can do until they eventually escape. Our local park is a lovely big expanse, I trek across it on my walk and often get a growl from an off leash dog as I walk past and more than once have been snapped at. The problem with these owners is that these are valueless dogs. It seems the dogs are a PITA even to the owners and they were probably bought for $50 so the effort involved in feeding them decently, keeping them well housed, vet visits and chips and desexing is all too bloody hard. If you bought a fridge for $50 bucks and it broke, you'd probably chuck it and get a new one, right? Aside from the 'penis extension' theory, I firmly believe that this (and the shoddy breeding) contributes hugely. Cute when they're pups before any real work starts, then they're 'broken' and left in the yard or dumped down the pound. Wherein lies the difference between the people here who own and love Bull Breeds etc and the deadheads who let them languish in yards or the like. Your dogs have value, and are worlds apart from the others and so behave differently. The issue is that the prevalent type is the deadhead bred and owned kind.

How awful. I would have had a hard time not thumping him to a pulp. -

How naughty! I don't think ours allows retractable leads. We were told a flat collar and a short lead. I hate those things. -

Mum's Shih Tzu is like that. We call her The Seagull. If you have chips, she will be there. She also has one eye so she does very very well out of it. How very formal! Haha. -

Little master got his (cheap and disposable, and way way too big) first tag in the mail today. He's an official pooch! Spent the day with 'daddy' as I'm back at work and apparently got the cheekies and has worn both of them out. Both better sleep well! -

I was thinking for the people, but it is a sound idea for both. I am thinking about it if the chewing pants legs carries on. Haha. I will tell you what though. I am so excited for puppy school. If nothing else it will tire out Gus and we will have a night without the post-dinner sillies. I would hope so, seems more rural areas are more dog savvy than silly city people. I had a little kid about 5 years come up at the cafe the other day and ask nicely to pat Gus and I said of course, couldn't spot her mum but figured I couldn't say no if she'd asked so nicely. So she got down on her knees and gave him a cuddle and asked questions about what he eats and where he sleeps etc and she was so lovely and gentle, anyway, mum came out and told her off because doggies bite and have germs. I said he doesn't bite and told the mum she asked so nicely and what a lovely kid she was and she snorted and said 'well I don't like dogs, so we avoid them' and dragged the kid off. Sour old witch. I would love him to meet more kids! Not by force though, haha. -

Or take a spray water bottle everywhere and give them a spritz when they're misbehaving. Bad silly human, you get nothing without asking for it the right way. It is so rude though. As if you wouldn't ask. I don't shove my hands in your baby's mouth, do i? -

He's just a twit. I can't be bothered with him. And she, as dearly as I love her, isn't very pup savvy. She wanted to know if I had to wake up to feed him through the night and why I didn't get a Jetstar sale fare for $40 to fly him over. Oh and last night she said 'gee the breeder has done a lot of work toilet training him then!' No way! I've worked my butt off over the weekend! Hahahaha. Not the sharpest tool in the shed, god love her. I will have a word with her though, I sent her an email earlier but might see if she wants to come for tea this week. I can not tell you how much I would love to knock his head off at the best of times but for the sake of keeping things nice I tolerate him. -

Little bit of a rant. Sorry in advance! My best friend has a real dropkick boyfriend, who has no idea. Had an entire great dane he never bothered much with who lived in his courtyard. Not the dogs fault but I am led to believe he was an awful dog, no training, no boundaries, no nothing. So she comes over last night to see Gus and he was in bed, so she picked him up to have a sleepy puppy cuddle and he was all about that, til Dr Dipsh*t decided to wind him up (at 10:30pm) and get him to bite his fingers, which we have been strongly discouraging. He then quizzed us on why we wouldn't want to breed with him, cause he's got 'papers' so you could 'make some quick money'. I wanted to knee him in his stupid face. So they left about 11 and pup was up til 2 wound up and nippy and didn't want to sleep. I just looked at my friend when he was carrying on like 'really?' and told him he was a fool. Maybe she should get him castrated. So I am thoroughly pooped today. -
I agree. I look at Gus and think I am sure you've grown in the night...

Just called to pay for our puppy school and the girl behind the counter said 'IS THIS THE FLAT COATED RETRIEVER PUPPY?!' before I could say who I was. She wants one when she moves from an apartment and offered to kidnap him if he's misbehaving and said she'll stay back late to meet him next Monday. Said she'd been keeping an eye out to make sure we came. He's been alive 8 weeks and has more friends than I have ever have!
