  1. Dingo at Dalhousie! The first one we saw and probably the one in the best condition Sunset at Dalhousie Bloods Creek Simpsons Gap Palm Valley.. as the name suggests, a valley full of palm trees in the middle of the outback. Kathleen Spring The Olgas at sunrise Uluru at sunrise Sturt Desert Pea I missed my dogs! If it wasn't for them I could have spent another 2 weeks away. My girl made it quite clear that she wasn't happy about being left at home.. "You are never going away without me again!" There are heaps more photos on my facebook, let me know if you would like the link.
  2. Dalhousie Ruins - these stockyards were built entirely by hand and are just beautiful. You can see the holes that were hand carved into the poles where the rails slid through. Most of the poles are still solid today. Sunset at Lamberts Centre of Australia Simpsons Gap Kings Canyon Kings Canyon, The Garden of Eden and The Domes of the Lost City from the air Dingo at Kings Canyon camp. This one looked like she had recently had pups. Standing about 4-5 metres away at 8:30am when this photo was taken, she had no dramas wandering around our camp and checking out the spit we had cooked on the night before! Uluru Uluru Algebuckina Bridge (longest bridge in South Australia, part of the Old Ghan Railway line and crosses the Neale River)
  3. Thought I would share some pictures from the fantastic roadtrip through central/outback Australia that we've just been on. 15 days 5101kms 789 litres of diesel 12 different campsites 1 helicopter flight Too many hours of driving to count Countless beautiful places, sights, laughs, good times and wonderful memories. Route took us from home (Adelaide) to Pt Augusta to Marree, up the Birdsville Track past Mungeranie to Birdsville, across "Big Red" and the 1100 sanddunes of the Simpson Desert via the QAA Line to Poeppel Corner and the French Line to Dalhousie Springs, Mt Dare to Lambert's Centre of Australia to Alice Springs via Finke and Chamber's Pillar, Alice Springs to Simpsons Gap, Palm Valley and Kings Canyon, from there, Uluru and the Olgas back down to Marla, jumped on the Oodndatta track through to Oodnadatta and William Creek, Beresford back to Marree, to Hookina Creek in the Flinders Ranges near Hawker and then home. Thanks Thistle for telling me how to post the photos, I couldn't get it to work the other day.. there are some more a couple of posts down as well. Birdsville Bakery for a curried camel pie! Sunset in the Simpson Desert Camels! Camels! You will come over a dune in the Simpson to find a massive salt flat/lake in between you and the next dune. Amazing. Dalhousie Ruins Simpson Desert Simpson Desert and our trusty bus Sunset in the Simpson Sunset in the Simpson If anyone is thinking of doing something similar, just get out there and do it- you will have the most amazing time! We took two weeks and it wasn't quite long enough, there were a couple of walks at Kings Canyon/Uluru/The Olgas that we didn't get time to do but that is just a good excuse to do it again in the future! I really wanted to see a dingo and I wasn't disappointed- saw the first one at Dalhousie and there were heaps at Kings Canyon. The ones at Kings Canyon aren't scared of you at all.. I went to put some rubbish in the bin, turned around and there was one just a couple of metres from me! Another checked our camp out pretty thoroughly the next morning, while we were standing 4-5 metres away. Also saw wild camels, horses and even a donkey! Hope you enjoy the photos!
  4. Been thinking about this article all day- I am so disgusted! I don't know what is worse- the guy himself (honestly what a douchebag!!!!) or news.com.au for having this kind of dribble as 'news' and essentially promoting a shonky breeder that thinks it's ok to put dogs in cages 10m in the air.
  5. Thanks HW, makes sense. Assuming AmStaffs are one of those breeds that do not require health testing?
  6. Surely suspending dogs in a cage 10m in the air is cruelty? I don't know much about registered breeders, but I thought health tests, desexing and vaccinating were pretty standard? Website mentions nothing about desexing and pups don't come with any vaccinations?
  7. http://mobile.news.com.au/national/south-australia/theo-grivakis-is-australias-most-successful-breeder-of-american-staffordshire-bull-terriers/story-fnii5yv4-1227219814310 THE cages sit innocuously at the bottom of two 10-metre high towers, the words “Andonas Kennels” strung between them on wire. But when Theo Grivakis – “dog dealer” extraordinaire – holds one of his infamous Buckland Park parties, musclebound American Staffordshire bull terriers are loaded into each cage and hoisted above the crowd, who drink and dance under spotlights surrounded by larger-than-life wooden carvings of Native Americans, cobras, elephants, lions and eagles. So much wrong in this article. Wtf.
  8. What a lucky lady! Glad both are recovering. Also good to be reassured that my vet responds appropriately to both animal and human emergency situations lol.
  9. What a beautiful boy. So sorry for your loss xx
  10. I thought she was already meant to have no more than 60 animals? The article suggests there are more than that. 2 year good behaviour bond. Hmmm.
  11. Cattle dog. Great protection, good help to catch food, would keep you warm at night and wouldn't leave your side.
  12. For people in Adelaide, a friend had a snake in his backyard in Marion last week and another friend had one in their backyard in Happy Valley over the weekend. Both suspected to be browns and about a metre long. Well kept backyards too, short grass, no rubbish etc. Please be vigilant!
  13. And the dopey boofer who decides to sit cramped in the footwell instead of on the nice comfy seat whilst waiting for the she dog to finish her bath lol
  14. Wow. Gorgeous as well as clever (the ad and the dog).
  15. That's fantastic! He has done a great job.
  16. That's awesome gapvic! Can I ask where you got the skull from?
  17. I have been slack the last few weeks. Will try to get back in to it! I am slightly cheating this week and uploading a photo taken a while ago but it was my girls 8th birthday yesterday so I thought I'd share a puppy photo with you all :)
  18. My bluey is the sweetest dog I have ever met. Loves everyone she meets and will sit on their foot until they give her a pat. She is wary around some other female dogs but will just avoid them rather than make a scene. She is a huge sook. Loves her people, usually found on the couch or bed cuddling her humans. Extremely clever, but if her ball is in her line of sight, good luck getting her to focus on much else. She is fiercely loyal- as beautifully natured as she is, I have no doubt I'd see another side if she ever felt my OH and/or I were threatened or someone tried to jump our fence etc. My boy is blue x staff. He is pretty much similar but loves all other dogs, is less people orientated and is fairly dumb lol. He is a true boofhead.
  19. Glad to hear Sumo is ok, must have been terrifying for all of you.
  20. My girl is another that missed the memo on hugging.. as I type she is climbing in my lap nudging me with her nose trying to get my arm around her lol
  21. Warning, the video on the national geo site that is linked in the article will probably make you tear up a little.. or a lot.
  22. Week 28 An action shot.. they may be getting older but they still love a game of bitey face
