  1. Arnold is gorgeous! × infinity
  2. Yes. Quite right. My bad for not checking properly. I was thrown, Snooza make a few different types of bed. We had a generic tramp for our guys, lasted years. Its actually still going strong on its 5th dog some 20 years later ( its been recovered a few times). I've also had a good aldi one for my smaller dogs. I think if your dog is past it's distruction phase a generic one is totally ok.
  3. I agree. I've been slack / busy too... back soon ...
  4. I think it depends on your dog, breed, age etc. And where you live too (climate). Tramp beds have their benefits, but I don't personally think they're a good choice for an every day bed. Again, personally, I think it's similar to sleeping on a hammock every day. I'd prefer a bed.
  5. Very VERY deep. A girlfriend had one. Huge food allergies - he was really only happy on Ziwipeak, had a leg amputation just shy of 3 years due to bone cancer & was PTS 6 months later
  6. I don't know for sure, but first reaction would be a Rottweiler, but maybe an adult re-home. (Not sure on the whole 30 minutes walk thing & are think they're "just" big) Another thought, while not exactly giant, would be a retired greyhound - nice & big & generally low energy levels beyond a daily walk.
  7. Oh. He is cute! I'm a huge fan of nose work..can't go wrong there in my opinion
  8. Absolute basics. My last boy didn't even really know his name (we gave him a new one as he wasn't chipped when we got him as an oldie). I spent hours working on sit, stay, come and his name. You can't go wrong with a solid foundation and setting him up to realise you're the "bringer of good things" Do you know what kind of sport you might like to try and what's available to you locally? SM Ps. Welcome to the forum, photos of pooches are absolutely, 100% manditory (he he he)... ok... well, highly encouraged.
  9. There's quite an active Facebook group you could ask. If there are any in NZ they're likely to know. Look for: "pedigree dogs (nzkc registered) for sale in new zealand"
  10. Yeh - but look at some of the prices for designer mutts - just staggering and disgusting. Seriously - take a quick look on trade me if you want to make your blood boil. I don't think the price of pedigree is the problem here. I also see people advertising pups as "almost...xxx" (todays was "Almost 100% Maltese pups" Mum is 100% Maltese , dad is 1/4 shih tzu") If people are advertising as "almost 100%" why not just breed and sell actual "100% pups" ???
  11. Could be worth a shot - I remember in the initial consult I had with the GP for Scotties behavior they mentioned medicating for storms etc was hard because you can't tell its coming. Obviously you'd be able to tell when you have visitors. Wont help with baby/toddler issues.... Maybe even some rescue remedy or adaptil? What a sad and stressful situation for you & your family.
  12. So well put @Little Gifts!!!
  13. They're looking like real little dogs now!
  14. I think: Some people don't care. Some people are naive. You gotta remember you're amongst "the converted" here. Not everyone has the same knowledge & goes through life thinking status quo is ok. I know I certainly did re: pet nutrition until Scottie forced me to become much better educated. I even had a dog who "lived til 15 on nothing but Pal" a few years ago... Edit: not entirely eloquent & well said. Hope you get what I mean. Basically I think its the old "if its for sale it must be ok adage"
  15. Its a huge shop. Been on the site well over 20 years in an incredibly well off & growing part of Sydney. We used to pop out there a bit to look at fish stuff (when we had a tank) as it was on the aquarium run, but they lost my when they held a school holiday "competition" where everyone won a Betta (Siamese Fighter)
  16. I remember you saying that you had a heap of trouble with Thistle. That's such a shame! it should be so straight forward..
  17. Sweet Jesus. So much more than just the koalas going on here.
  18. Not sure if you're on Facebook but if you are ...I recently helped a family find a dog via private re-home as cat & kid friendly were top 2 & they were really failing to find somebody suitable.
  19. I'll jump on the PP bandwagon too. She was so gentle & caring with Scottie. He loved when she came over for cuddles I'm sure Thyme will adore her & Thistle will grow too as well.
