  1. Just my .2cents, far too many people have little to no understanding of how a Guide dog functions. Very distressing for those who need to have them to FUNCTION. (takes a deep breath & gets down off her soapbox)
  2. gosh, that is a worry. Breeder I know calls hers 'merry' cockers. Never known temperament issues. CKCS would be suitable provided the health checks were carried out. ( & Yes health check are needed for any breed) English cockers would be fine as well. Exciting times for you
  3. Well done for all the efforts made by the Group. Thank you ALL for caring.
  4. I got told by a Vet that if 'I' the owner think there is a weight gain, then 'I' need to take steps to address it. Not sure Scott's age but he may be at the ideal limit now. Time to measure his servings, and those little treats 'changed' to lower calories. Well done for understanding the issue. Seen so many dogs overfeed by their owners. Must say Perse's suggestion of dry fried sweet potato sounds yummy enough for me :) Good Luck
  5. Queensland Boxer Club has a rescue service. http://www.qldboxerclub.org/rescue.htm :)
  6. My breed's Club just successfully placed a 12 year old dog found wandering.....their attitude is if it is living and healthy, it must be given a chance.
  7. Super news. Paws crossed for everything to work out smoothly and allow your family to be able to have stability. All of you deserve to be able to live happily.
  8. Concept is great. All success for the future. Idiot others, not worth wasting words over
  9. I agree with that. Those who do not know 'will' believe him. Not going to swear. But a certain person with gardening skills used to espouse designer dogs. I had an terrible battle to convince two friends not to go there. Public are easily lead astray
  10. He sounds well off. His rapport seems very lacking with you.
  11. Haha! I did mix you up with another DOL. You will really enjoy Broken Hill. Try to look at Silverton if you can.
  12. The worry with this is people not aware of dogs will be influenced by a media figure.
  13. Her second Dog is called Riley.. And a rescue dog too I think not sure of breed :)
  14. If you have a garage and don't have the stomach for a legal fight, turning the garage into a living space sounds like a good option. Sometimes the path of least resistance must be walked. I do hope a good solution can be found. I could not bear having to miss out on my contact with my dogs. Sending good vibes Taliecat :)
  15. Oscar's Law FB site had comments . One that amazed me was Staffies are part pit bull so are not to be trusted near kids
  16. Another point might be if there are any breeders' terms in the purchase.
  17. Is Jonah the dog you mentioned had car sickness? How is that going? He certainly looks totally at ease and enjoying himself. Photos are great.
  18. I just got my puppy in November. I spoke to the breeder and told her that I wanted to show the puppy. That meant that I was going to be given a puppy that had ( & has) the potential to meet the Breed Standards. This puppy was registered on Main Register. You would need to look for a puppy that is able to be on the Main Register. A pet would more than likely be on Limited Register. Whilst adorable as puppies are, it may not have that extra edge & is not eligible for showing. :)
  19. https://www.rta.qld.gov.au/ I would get on the phone asap tomorrow to discuss this issue. I am hoping there is an out. Good Luck
  20. Did they give any reason(s)? Will it be possible to keep the property in pristine condition as if no dogs lived there? More importantly, ages of the dogs & winter temperatures need consideration, imho. I could not put any dog aged over 5 outside in winter. Is there a garage area etc? If the house could be easily kept 'in order', then your choice might be easier *winks*
  21. Slightly OT, those addresses are great for those special dog 'needs'. That said, the K9 company are outstanding with what they offer locally too Sending HUGS for a speedy recovery and all to go well for your boy (& you as Head Nurse)
  22. What a beautiful girl! Run free Jessie. May there be rabbits to chase at The Rainbow Bridge. I am vey sorry to hear of your loss.
