I met two cuties while on our morning walk today. I had no idea what they were but the very nice gentleman owner certainly knew mine was a schnauzer. He commented on how nice she was ( lucky I groomed her on Friday as otherwise he'd have had no idea. She was so hairy and scruffy) I in turn asked about his which were two Japanese Chins. One black and white the other red and white. Both males. Very cute and very friendly to both me and Molly. Further on our walk we encountered a sharpei. Most unusual morning. Mollys regular friends, a border collie and a poodle were no where in site. Nice to meet others.

My mini eats raw - chicken wings, necks and quality fillets, small portion of roo once a week and sardines once a week. Occasionally gets kibble mixed in but usually I use mixed veges. She gets lamb off cut bones twice a week. I get the bones from the butchers and if they have fat on them I trim it all off. Treats are given but monitored as minis are prone to getting overweight. Have to watch that. And my girl loves her food. All food.

Just have to watch if feeding kangaroo meat as it is very high in protein and too much protein isn't good for the kidneys.

Thanks Canisbellum. Sounds cool. No amenities or powered sites needed for us. We are very self sufficient as we love going to remote places.

Hi Canisbellum, just wondering if I could be cheeky enough to ask where exactly is this great camp spot. It looks awesome. Is it open to the general public for camping? We love camping and are always looking for new places to go and somewhere where the doggies are welcome.

my rottie girl diagnosed with lymphoma

Hi. I'm so saddened to hear your story. We lost our little girl, her name was Zena too, just spelt different. We had to say goodbye just 10 weeks ago. She had just turned 9. Too young to let go. It is such a hard thing to do. Our Zena had a type of cancer too. We were told barely a month but she lived for two months. She fought it really hard. Such a strong little thing. There was nothing we'd could do for her as it was found too late. I know I can't give you any advice or help but when my Zena was diagnosed just reading and hearing from others who have been through similar situations seemed to help me. My advice is to make every day count. Take lots of photos and make more happy memories. I still cry for my girl almost every day. We talk about her all the time and I know that she is still with us in spirit. Just know that we are thinking of you. Look after yourself and your girl. Spend time and just love her. Keep her happy and comfortable. My thoughts are with you. Great poem too. -
Kodi: why is this forum quiet about it?

I'm with you RP. Everyone seems to be making reasonable comments but yes, how would you feel if it was your dog. And honestly what were two young boys doing with knives and arrows. What is the world coming too. -

Thumbs up to you Boronia. Nice thinking. All that you mentioned is what he deserves. -

Wow. Sometimes I just wonder what judges are thinking. So easy for some people to just get away with anything. I feel for the poor woman. It must have been very distressing for her and she probably feels let down by the justice system. Such a sad time for her. -
After a very upsetting last few months, after saying goodbye to our Zena, we decided to go on a much needed break. We love the outdoors and camping and decided to take Molly on her very first road trip. She is used to camping but it's the longest she has spent travelling in the car and away from home. She appeared to love it and we were very proud of her excellent behaviour. She is our little sweetie. Love her to bits

Haha. Yep. It probably was their ears but maybe the eldest pup thought he'd start a sing song. In my opinion he was a big boy who always showed his feminine side. He got bitten by an ant one day and literally wouldn't move until I sat with him and totally convinced him his foot would still work.

Not a huge improvement yet PK but for the last two weeks we have been on a bush camping road trip anyway and Molly came with us. Her first long trip away from home. She loved it but had both of us 24/7 so why wouldn't she . Before we went though at times I think she possibly was a bit quieter. The hard yards might start now that we are back home and back to doing normal things. I will re read everyone's advice and take it from there. Thanks for asking

I once had a whole litter of mini schnauzer pups (6) that would howl at sirens. We have a fire station down the street from us so lots of sirens. The eldest pup would start and 5 little heads would lift into the air and howl with him. Very cute. But those pups are now 5 and most still howl when they hear a siren.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your big boy. Nice to know he passed in his sleep.

Even though Molly has worn a coat every winter of her life she acts up when she see it coming. She knows the cupboard where it is kept and as soon as she sees me getting it out she immediately goes into reverse, voicing her opinion at the same time. As soon as it's put on she runs around silly rubbing her body on walls, chairs and rolls on the floor. After a few minutes all is good but it must come off at bedtime. Likes to sleep naked !!!

I can only suggest to take it one day at a time. Everyone is different. I lost my special girl 6 weeks ago and I still have moments every day. She really was special and left us way too soon. ( 9 years old ) We still have a second dog, her daughter, and she certainly helps us. She just seems to know when I need a laugh and will do something silly. I think your mums new pup will definitely help. It will at least take your mind off things occasionally. Just take it easy. Look at photos and speak of her regularly. Take care. I know how you would be feeling. My thoughts are with you.

One more cutie. and yes we did have a few babies!!!

Hey T, you made me go looking for some of my guinea pig photos. I have posted some for your viewing pleasure also. Love the playing piggies.
-
Wow. What breed of dog is he and how on earth do you get a dog to that wonderful age?
-
Wow. So gorgeous. Love the little piggies. And oh the guinea pigs bought back memories of ages ago. My kids had some and they were totally awesome.
-
Twodoggies2001where do you get frozen chicken feet from? I know you are in Vic and I'm in Qld but where should I look for them.? They sound interesting to me. My little girl loves her bones and if they help with joint problems later in life they could be a good thing.

I'll second the puzzle toys. I'd like to see more variety at a reasonable price.
-
Oh, Scottsmum, you haven't made me feel worse. I too believe dogs understand more than we give them credit for. And I truly believe Molly is probably just lonely as when we are home we do so much together. Yes, she probably is spoilt. Um ah my fault!!! I could try something foodie. She's always thinking of her stomach. She does have a kong like toy that treats can be put in. Maybe I could throw that at her as a distractionmight keep her busy for like all of 5 minutes. Lol Cool story too by the way.

Thanks Scottsmum. Your comment makes me feel a bit better and hopefully she does just need time to adjust. She's smart so really she should know that things haven't changed too much and we will always come home to her.
