  1. The 2 who don't need it will eat it no problems, always the way. I was wondering if the equine version would be more palatable due to the molasses for the 1 that won't eat it.
  2. That was my thoughts as well. Not something I have ever actually experienced though.
  3. I had the same problem. Maybe it works but it's hard to tell when your dog will not voluntarily ingest the stuff. And in my case, the dog in question is a filthy glutton who'll eat anything you put in front of him, which leads me to think it can't taste that good to some dogs. I had this issue too and it was our beagle that wouldn't eat it and she is a walking vacuum. I even tried mixing a teaspoon in a 200gram tub of yoghurt and giving her the whole tub - nope, totally refused the yoghurt. I persisted for a bit and she didn't get any better about eating it and I also found it did not mix into other food very well.
  4. I'm not a GSD person but I remember asking a friend who breeds them about this .She said ANKC only require that they actually score but as German Shepherd Dog Club member and to abide by their rule their rules for listing litters there are score restrictions with a maximum combined score of sire and dam and no single hip over a certain score. I can't remember what the actual numbers were though. I think elbows it was a total of 4 with nothing over a 2 but I could be well off with that. As for DogsVic not giving out scores - that doesn't surprise me at all due to issues around confidentiality. All they need to say is someone has met the requirements to register a litter. It is up to the breeder to give specific information out to those that require it.
  5. A clam shell and multiple water bowls for outside. On really hot days 2 clam shells in different areas of the yard. And inside we use a Road Refresher bowl as well - if they go mental they can dig the water out of it which Cinna did a few times as a pup but as she is under supervision inside the digging in her inside bowl stopped pretty quick.
  6. I recently picked up some black kings on ebay for about $10 each and I think about $10 for postage. As I got 3, it worked out to about $14 per kong. The cheap overseas suppliers I found all had expensive shipping.
  7. No idea on brands but I would going to say the same as Rebanne that for anything more than a medium breed they will not be long enough. I bought a human 1 (for the humans primarily)last year and spent ages looking for 1 as I figured I wanted 1 long enough to use for the dogs too. My criteria was the longest and widest deck I could get in our price range and that is about 1.5m long which is just long enough for the border collies.
  8. Check Ebay - I just managed to get a really good price for them on there. I am guessing blue is not such a popular colour as they had blue cheaper than red or black so my girls have blue :)
  9. Unfortunately in some humans and non humans even these new generation drugs do not control seizures Yep I know someone with children with epilepsy that is poorly (if at all) controlled by some pretty serious drug combinations and have a read a lot of the links they have shared on the sue of Canabidiol. It is good that it is starting to get discussed in main stream media. Hopefully proper studies and trials will be conducted. Do dogs have some of the serious side effects to the epilepsy medications that people can have? Inability to control body temp, extreme mood swings and behaviour changes are the 1s that immediately come to mind.
  10. I was going to say I think Cash would be the first I would steal :) And yes Dart looks gorgeous too.
  11. Beautiful. The third and fourth 1s stood out to me immediately. Looks like you had gorgeous light on the river. Whereabouts where they taken?
  12. The best thing that will help with house training is getting the yard fixed ASAP so he can start spending more time out there to develop a preference for going out there. Otherwise a good general rule with a baby is take the out as soon as they wake up (and I mean as soon as you see them stir), a short time after eating (10 mins or so - depends on the puppy), after vigorous play and every hour in between or any time you see them looking unsettled. If he looks like he is running around searching - he probably is so it is the time to quickly get him outside. Reward him for eliminating outside when you take him out and once you know he will ge pretty quick when you go out there you can even add a command. Hurry Up is what my girls get as a command.
  13. Can't help with the camera choice but i have shoulder issues too. Best thing I did was go to a black rapid shoulder strap and where it across my good shoulder.
  14. Yep - the owner is already stressed and doesn't need people going on about it. It is not ideal, but the fact is it has already happened so now it is time to make the best of the situation and educate for the future.
  15. These are some good links to get you started. I was going to suggest clicker training as well - great for getting puppies thinking. http://www.clickertr...ted?source=hpsb And some wonderful how to videos and great trick ideas https://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup
  16. Ditto to all of this. It depends on the border collie but their energy levels vary. The most important thing is mental stimulation. Lots of training games (short, fun sessions with high levels of rewards - basic behaviours, tricks, hide and seek - anything to keep the mind occupied) with you when you are home and also spending most of that time with you. I would even have the crate in your room at night. Dogs are pack animals and as your puppy is spending lots of time alone during the day, you need to balance that out by spending as much time as is possible with the puppy when you are home.
  17. I was out at Monarto on Monday. We have a bit of a pattern to our trips now - over to the chimps first while they are still active and interacting with their enrichment/searching for food then on to the bus. We aim to be at the Carnivore platform about half an hour before the talk and do the loop through there. Usually some movement happening as they know the keeper is about or on the way. Then head up onto the platform to catch the action there :)
  18. Hours - think it took us about 20 mins on that 1. LOL Somewhere there will be a breeder sad to know he ended up in a shelter but pleased to hear he is in a great home now. Good luck!
  19. BC Crazy - which style Hurrta did you get and what sizes? I am not sure if I should look at the rain coat or the winter coat for my girls? Jazz is a fairly big bitch but Cinna is quite small so I am guessing 1 would be 55cm and 1 50cm.
  20. Beautiful photos and I love your little chair too :)
  21. The red dog is a nova Scotia duck tolling retriever. I did them in photoshop. About 10 mins per image. Each image is put on top of the previous one and a layer mask used to hide/reveal sections.
  22. Well done Xena :) Gabby is such a good girl. Here she is in action
  23. I went to an agility trial today. The perfect place to do some sequences. I would want a tripod if doing these regularly though.
  24. I would be heading straight to a vet not affiliated with the pet store for a second opinion. This does not sound like a healthy puppy and as others have said puppies can go downhill very fast.
