Brisbane to Melbourne. Will probably be Brisbane to Adelaide this year or next. These are specialist shows of course - an all breeds show? perhaps 2 hours one way, but we are spoiled for choice around here.

ETA: Will no doubt do Brisbane - WA one day too...

I live like 5-10 Min from KCC, so most of my shows are there! My work is also not far from here, so if I have days where I show and work, I'd like to think I am lucky that both are in close proximity of each other!

The furthest I went to is Morwell and Bulla. I dislike Bulla, so will only do that for certain specialties only but I love shows out in the countries and so far done Morwell and Lang Lang and both were fantastic shows!

I wished I've entered the Berwick Agricultural Show, but I am in Sydney for Work Conference!

How far would you showies travel to a dog show, just curious as I have recently moved and finding the shows in my area are at least an hour longer to get to.

Cheers

I'm lucky as our main showgrounds are only about 3km away and a couple of times a year I might travel 4 to 5 hours to a weekend of showing but then we get to do camping too with friends so thats fun. A couple of years ago I drove along with 5 other ladies, 13 dogs and three vehicles across Australia from Perth WA to Condobolin (NSW) to do 13 shows in 17 days. We lived in tents while in NSW and used a couple of cabannas covered with a huge tarp to join the tents and act as our kitchen living area as well as the dogs tent area. Was a great experience but also an unexpecting learning experience. Would love to travel more for shows but finances curtail it somewhat and my dog will never be a BIS although if I did have one with that potential I would have too find the finances I think

Great, thanks for the replies. I thought I was crazy driving 2hrs each way but I guess not :laugh: .

That's an "it's just up the road" sort of show  :p ;)

 Yep ! a 'local' show for us is under two hours, and we only have a couple of those !

I normally camp for the weekend for other shows.

And will travel eight hours for our specialty.

I regularly travel 3 hours each way to show. We have "local" shows a coulpe of times a year but other than that I have to travel to Melbourne to show. We are probably shifting to Hervey Bay QLD in the next 12 months and Im so disappointed as it means 4.5 hours travel one way to durack to show. There are a few smaller country shows in the area I think but they're only small from what I can tell.

And I have travelled to Sydeny and Adelaide for specialty shows.

I traveled 6 hours, in the snow for the nationals last year..never driven in snow.. for 1 dog.

Drove a normally 4 hour trip that took over 6 due to stupid Auckland traffic...

Id normall drive between 2-3 hours away.

Every so often ill go to a show Ive never been too, I hope to go to gisborne one this year.. Maybe whanganui. Or levin.. lol

So true

Up to 2.5 hrs each way for a day trip on my own, up to 4 if I have a co-pilot :D . 8hrs is the longest I have driven to get to a show (the Melb Royal, driving from Canberra)

Longest I have done for a one day was about 5 hours one way but I don't think I would do it again and thankfully I always have another driver.

I would happily drive any distance provided i had another driver with me and the ability to camp over night. I love road trips and getting to the show is half the fun
