trinabean Posted September 23, 2011 Share Posted September 23, 2011 Just come back from seeing Mindy. She is doing a lot better now. She was able to stand up and wag her tail. She is also eating small amounts now and she was able to drink some electrolyte solution while we were there. They said she was very hungry which is a good sign. We have to limit her food intake though in case she regurgitates. She is not totally out of danger yet, I won't be able to relax until the weekend is over, but things are looking much more positive at this stage. Thanks again for all your support and kind words Great to hear that Mindy is doing better. Here's to the weekend being over for you and Mindy getting healthy enough to come home. aussielover Posted September 24, 2011 Author Share Posted September 24, 2011 Mindy is a little worse today. She is still stable and the surgical specialist isn't worried about leakage just yet. She is not eating as well and is not as alert as she was yesterday. She has been taken off many of her meds, so this might be the reason she seems a bit flatter today (hopefully). Cowan had 3 major surgeries and several other small ones as well as peritonitis but he is sitting at my feet today. She is fairly happpy and wagging her tail, also going on some short walks outside for toilet breaks and seems pretty keen to get out of her cage. Thankfully she is crate trained and hasn't made too much of a fuss trying to get out of her cage. The vet thinks that her "dip" yesterday was due to overzealous feeding (she had 3 a/d cans in one night!)in order to get her protein levels up and it was too much, too soon. The surgical specialist thinks she should be over the worst of it, but tonight and tomorrow night are pretty important. If she remains stable over these nights she should make it. Glad to hear Cowan is ok, he is very lucky. There is only a 50% survival rate with a FB perforation and septic peritonitis Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
