  1. So sorry. Big hugs to you all.
  2. I kicked and punched the dog that attacked Brock. The dog just looked at me. A lady. last year I think. saved her fluffy by sticking her finger up the attacking dog's bum.
  3. Dude you need a physical barrier. You know this. You would tell anyone else this. I really don't want to come on here and read that one of these dogs has been hurt. We have known them since pups so they are sort of 'ours' too. And I don't want you to have to deal with the guilt either.
  4. Your dog is nothing like Thistle! Nothing at all. But hell what do I know I was only an instructor for 5 years.
  5. She needs to be happy with people walking up and patting her before a formal stand for exam is attempted.
  6. Well that is probably something a heap of people thought until their dog ended up shot dead on a neighbours property. And the dogs do chase roos. Unless Pers owns a 1000+ acre property of course that the dogs simply can not get off. But there is still a risk to the dogs/pups from the feral goats etc.
  7. I wouldn't be doing stand for exam with her at all. She just isn't ready for it. The most I would be doing is walking around her. And an approach, retreat type of thing.
  8. You need to do something about these dogs. You know that. It isn't cute.
  9. they did although at that stage she wasn't unusually unwell. Did have a disagreement with them about yearly injections.
  10. You could be playing me now. Not sure I would want to go from roast chicken to L/D tinned  She feels the need for me to break her cookies up too still. I got more baby food which helped with dinner tonight. The antibiotics could be affecting her too. She is also sneezing a fair bit so I think is having a reaction to her kennel cough vac *eyeroll*
  11. Still not eating 100% but seems bright. Have another week of antibiotics to go. Thanks for asking.
  12. You can do whatever it is you need to do Swain. Sometimes that involves having a good cry and then getting on with it.
  13. They are hiding because I beat them.
  14. I got a free consult to my specialists which was a good score as that is usually around $170. I've been wanting to go back and have a chat with them.
  15. Time for the crate pics..... Looking very traumatized in their crates. Crate on left is K9+ and crate on right is K9 pro.
  16. Just been in. Got lots of dog food samples! Was very busy in there!
  17. No it doesn't really get easier. If Amber isn't with Poppy or they are really quiet in the morning I panic a bit that she has died. You get a bit more resigned to it I guess. Dealing with a palliative care pet really does take a toll on you. It is a fair bit of work to get the meds and diet right, not to mention expensive. I don't feel like I can go away on holidays and leave her. Then you also have to let go of all the plans you made for dog. I was going to do dog sports and maybe breed with Amber. It is a really sucky situation to be in.
  18. I trained a couple of dogs the 'old way'. Can't say I did much yelling or yanking around. That is just bad training.
  19. I just tried to make every day the best day for her. Which isn't a bad way to live!
  20. Have you spoken to your breeder Swain? What are they suggesting?
  21. I'm very sorry you are going through this. My dog was given 6 months to live when she was 11 months old (liver shunt). She is now 6yo. So sometimes they can really battle on. My girl has problems with fluid too (Ascites). I have found that diuretics work pretty well to keep that under control, plus a low sodium diet. You might need a combination of diuretics. I guess you need to weigh up quality of life.
  22. I don't think we are out of the woods yet but she certainly isn't going down easily!
  23. She ate some breakfast and had some drink (pediasure) for lunch. She is a bit quiet. No discharge and abdomen doesn't appear to be swollen or hot. It sounds like she's doing better, even if she's a bit on the quiet side. How are you doing? She just ate a cookie! First time as she has been spitting them out and i have been breaking them up into little bits for her. She is funny when she is off her food as it looks like there is something wrong with her teeth. When she first had issues with her liver and went off her food I did think it was her teeth for ages. But she also doesn't like super mushy stuff like cottage cheese! I am surprised I am still standing up!
