  1. Mine didn't do well on the Meals for Mutt food. There is nothing super special about it, similar sort of food to Black Hawk. Did you look at the ingredients in L/D?
  2. I wouldn't be grabbing a dog's collar when there is a history of re-directed aggression. Good way to get chomped.
  3. Is this a state issue? You can take dogs on trains in Victoria (muzzled).
  4. I was going to say it would be good if you could go into some national parks as I am right near one but I wouldn't be going in there by myself anyway!! The council wants to build a path through the Dandenongs and it would be good if dogs were allowed on that.
  5. I'm quite content with the number of places I can take dogs around were I live. There are quite a number of gardens, markets, cafes etc were they are welcome. I wouldn't want to take them to the shops anyway.
  6. Have you tried giving her a different food every day? I can trick my allergies a bit if I rotate things around. I find things go badly when I start eating too much of one thing. So I can eat bread for one meal but if I then had pasta for dinner things might get ugly. I have IBS & allergies. Might work if things are ok for her at first but are then making her sick.
  7. L/D has quite different ingredients in it, you could check the ingredients of that for possible issues. K/D dry is quite similar to L/D dry. Royal Canin's hepatic food also has different ingredients. All these are pretty much vego. Very left of centre but you could check out the fodmaps diet for humans and try and develop a homemade diet based on that? Other protein sources could be cottage cheese, eggs, fish
  8. human grade meat (and other food) is not automatically healthy for dogs...the meat will be very likely treated with 220...225 and can cause fatal Thiamine deficiency...conversely 'dog' grade meat treated with 220....225 contains additional Thiamine to address this issue. If any raw human grade meat has been treated with preservatives then it has been done illegally.
  9. Good luck but know you have support to send the dog back. it is quite distressing to have your stuff destroyed.
  10. Yeah and it really makes me feel quite cross for Juice and all the other people that have ended up with dogs like this because someone else has done the wrong thing with them. It just isn't fair. If you feel like taking on a project and do so knowing what you are getting into then that is different.
  11. You have had her 2 months? If you haven't got attached can you send her back? It you want to keep her get professional help in to work out what the issue is. Is she wrecking stuff when you are out or just when you are in the garage?
  12. I found a place that have a Zebra stallion that they are breeding to various horses and donkeys
  13. She couldn't reach her groin with her mouth with the cone on. I think she was rubbing it on something. Or she was rubbing the edge of the cone on it.
  14. Poppy managed to wreck stitches down near her groin even with a cone on. No idea how she was doing it and I was with her all day. We ended up have to put her on ACE for a couple of days to help it heal. That worked.
  15. I touch things my dogs are scared off. As in sit and pat the thing whilst they are watching. I've had border collies scared of soft toys  One went nuts about a life sized cutout.
  16. I wouldn't be believing anything written on a free blog site without further evidence/reading.
  17. One of the DOL advertisers does great treats - http://www.happypawstreats.com.au/home
  18. Good news Snook! Took the dogs to an off lead place. Didn't have the energy to control Poppy much so she got to run squealing at a heap of people. She was very happy. Everyone thought she was delightful! I really need to tape the performance one day!
  19. I tried to talk about drive once to a puppy class. Fairly sure they thought I was mental.
  20. Poppy gets excited when she sees Aussie Sheps as we did herding at an Aussie Shep breeders place So Aussie Sheps = SHEEP!!
  21. The argument vs halters and prongs is usually over the amount of damage that they can do if used incorrectly. And let us not get into that again!!! I wouldn't tell someone to use a halter to teach a dog not to pull. I would (and have) suggested one as a temporary safety device - tiny female, big dog.
  22. Any trainer that starts entering into a peeing contest or bad mouths another trainer is immediately taken off my list of people I would use. I am particularly impressed if they refrain from peeing even if given the opening to do so ... I also use that rule for tradies etc though. It is just not professional behaviour.
  23. I am a bit over arguing about Victoria Stilwell but I can find zero evidence that she was sued by Channel 4. Channel 4 still has her on their website too. There were 7 series so I imagine that there would have been a fair bit of press around about it. She also states that she was working as a trainer prior to the show on all official bios.
