  1. I would only report an actual attack. Or if the dog was out being a pest a lot.
  2. No chemical tick or flea treatments are recommended. A natural spray is suggested. The spray recommended is TripleSure spray. Can't find that available in Australia but it might be ok to ship to Australia. I found this one which is similar - http://www.healthypetsnaturally.com.au/pet_accessories/dr-bens-paws-claws This is one of the sucky things about the condition deciding what is going to cause the least harm.
  3. OMG look at this bath! swoon.
  4. Lucky I don't give a rats arse about the council then isn't it. Keep on topic people. I don't want to know anything about councils. I want to know how you have got hot water outside. I don't give a R's A about council either Jules, but if I wanted hot water outside I would just get OH to run me a pipe & put a tap in. Boronia's idea looks good, expecially as it has a temperature control, but could work out the same to get someone who knows a bit about plumbing just to run a pipe from your existing HW to an outside wall. I don't think it is rocket science stuff & probably a case of beer would pay for it  Shame I don't have a OH or someone who knows a bit about plumbing.
  5. This is the sort of thing I want BUT with Australian approval and a 10amp plug. These things normally run at a different amp rate (15 or 20 amps).

  7. One of my fav moments was when I was teaching Poppy to retrieve. We had got to the step of putting the dumbbell on the ground but she just would not pick it up at all. In frustration I put my head in my hands and whispered 'pick it up for mummy' and she did!!
  8. I used a local pet shop's bath the other day  That was less annoying then waiting for water to heat up etc I had a rough (very) quote of $400 to do that. Which was better then the $1200 that I got quoted by a rip-off plumber last time.
  9. They must be running a very amp. A heap of things use 15amps and don't need council permission.
  10. Bearers and joists. Has anyone found one of those plug in instant hot water units that use 10amps? I assume getting a higher amp power point put in would be just as annoying as a tap?
  11. Don't have external laundry access in this house and found it very painful in my last house doing it like that. Would always want to adjust the temp half way through washing a dog!
  12. Does anyone have hot water outside and how did you achieve it? Tap from existing plumbing? New water heating unit? portable water heater? Bored of waiting for the hydrobath to heat up!
  13. Tim used to post on DOL. I have only heard stuff about him as a massage therapist (positive).
  14. This is pretty much what my energetic borders do all day!
  15. I considered being offended by the article but then I thought about all the nuf-nufs that might not buy my breed now and am happy. I rarely recommend my breed anyhow as I don't think that most people are good enough I wouldn't even sell my brother a puppy years ago.
  16. Because I have bulldogs and they are not great at eating bones (the tend to swallow without chewing) I swap out a meal of VAN with a large chunk of meat that has to be chewed up before its eaten. Usually a nice big heart (cow or buffalo as they are quite big) and that seems to keep them happy for 10 minutes chewing and they all have lovely white teeth :) Thanks. I have one dog that can have bones/meat and one that can't have any. The one that can't have any has great teeth. The meat eaters teeth aren't as nice as they used to be when everyone got bones. But I don't really want to separate them at meal times whilst one takes the time to eat the bones/meat.
  17. If the dog can't have any bones at all (medical reasons) what would you suggest for teeth cleaning with VAN? With kibble you get a bit of teeth polishing happening but not sure if this would be the case with VAN. Thanks
  18. I think if the Mal is DA (which we don't really know) that it should be muzzled for its own sake in an offlead area. That is what I would do anyhow if I had a DA dog. Well a big DA dog with a heap of hair. I wouldn't like to leave a smaller dog defenseless. Sounds like the owners had the dog reasonably well under control. I personally would have moved away from them myself.
  19. Perhaps some time with a trainer/behaviorist might be a good idea. You need to find other games she likes. For instance a friend's border collie knew the names of an amazing amount of soft toys. He would have them in a basket and say go get 'pink pig' etc etc. One happy border collie. Not sure he even walked his dogs much. Has she ever had a collapse episode whilst in the garden with nothing out of the ordinary taking place?
  20. I stopped walking one of my border collies at 3yo due to injuries. She still went out places and had free exercise (ie no ball throwing, she just did what she wanted). I also had to retire her from sports. Fern lived a healthy, happy life until she was 15.5yo. The vet assured me that she was not in pain. If you can keep Kenzie pain free I am sure she will adapt to a slower pace of life.
  21. Amber had what looked like a typical skin allergy. I mucked around with diets and creams. It was actually a symptom of her liver condition. Since I have got that stable her skin is fine.
  22. My dog was supposed to die a year and a half ago. Hills Prescription food has helped her heaps. I also thought Hills was crap food prior to this and this has taught me that you feed what the dog needs not what your ego thinks you should be feeding.
  23. I saw a cat being taken for a canoe ride once. That was fairly strange to see!! Off lead dog area too!
