  1. Try chopping some leggings up and making your own.
  2. Would you take your dog to a chiro/massage person without getting xrays first?
  3. Well done on your rally legs Tassie! Glad you are enjoying training Rory. I am doing rally training with Poppy, she seems to be enjoying it. My club is doing pretty well with a couple of members now having their RAE titles. Seeing as Amber is still around I started to do a bit of training with her whilst waiting for Poppy turns in Rally. She really wanted to work! I was pleased and surprised as she totally turned off when she got sick. I have been gently training for a week and am rapt in how she is going. Much more bouncy then any of my other dogs have been. Pretty happy about it.
  4. Sending healing vibes for Kayla.
  5. Were is everyone? Isn't anyone doing obedience anymore?
  6. Very sorry to read that Coco has passed. How is Kayla?
  7. Any turkey mince in your supermarket? I had a look last night at foods I thought might be ok and they all had chicken fat in them. Anyone around you farm goats? Goat meat might be an option.
  8. Amber's food is around $100 a month for Hill's Prescription Poppy's food is around $40 a month for VIP Grain free dry and various over stuff (sardines, meat etc) They get dentastix as Amber can't have bones at about $14 a week I buy homemade biscuits at a market at about $20 a month. This is so I get a meat free product for Amber. Then training treats - no idea how much I spend on those. Then around $200 per month on medication.
  9. Yes. I was using the chews. They are easier to give to the dog as against the powder. I did see an improvement in the dog whilst on the chews. I had a tub of human joint stuff that I didn't like so gave that to the dog when I finished the PAWS. That also worked. Am currently using Joint Guard, which is also working. But is heaps more expensive so I will try something else afterwards. I find it works pretty quickly on me and the dog! A week off it and we can both tell too.
  10. Happy to enable  Enjoy!
  11. I just wouldn't keep a large volume of dogs in a kennel because I don't think it is good for them. They aren't cows. So I would prefer to see this practice stopped rather then finding ways to make it ok. Yes but it clearly isn't going to stop. Large scale commercial kennels are becoming more common rather than less and small hobby breeders are being made to keep even what I consider relatively small numbers like this when they prefer not to. The facts are that if you breed a dog on your property you are seen to be operating a business from home - same with rescue by the way - even one rescue dog and its the same thing and it has no consequence whether you are after a profit. That means a DA is required to get approval to breed dogs on your property and this plus the companion animals act and prevention of cruelty to animals acts will be taken into account if we have to be licensed. In NSW in at least some council areas - its an inability to house more than 2 dogs within 15 metres of a dwelling as well. We have seen recently breeders who have only a few dogs who have an exemption for a permit in Victoria who still have to have money spent on kenneling, quarantining and whelping areas. One in Queensland had 8 dogs on 100 acres and has had them living in her home and sleeping on the bed - whelping them in the laundry for over 10 years. She is told when she applied for a licence to breed that she had to have 35000 worth of kennels built in order to breed them. Nowhere in any codes does it say you get out of it if you only have one dog - same applies to everyone. This has already been discussed at length. I was under the impression this was a different topic. And you said all views were welcome. Incorrect obviously. Keep this up and soon you are going to to talking to yourself.
  12. Maybe it is just doing some training after all anyone can train, they just can not enter ANKC tests and trials. The person insisted that the poodle was competing officially. Weird.

  14. Well done! You have been working really hard
  15. Just had someone tell me that a poodle is doing official herding in NSW. Poodles don't look to be on the approved list. Does anyone know anything about this?
  16. It is just a gamble though. All the puppies could be perfect or you could end up with 8 blind and deaf puppies. Or anywhere in between.
  17. My border collie's knee op failed. After the vet gave me a really slim chance of a second op working I decided to leave it alone. A second vet also thought that scar tissue might stabilize the joint. This is what happened. The dog ended up with a limp but went on for another 10 years quite happily. The dog was doing obedience and was up to Open so I had to stop doing that as I didn't want her jumping. Her exercise was also free rein so she could run and stop when needed. Maybe a onlead walk a couple of times a week.
  18. Amber was named because she is amber coloured
  19. Well Easter Sunday at lunch time during the rain was good for walking! Not one other person out!
  20. Fish and chips have been scoffed! They were grain free!
  21. I have heaps of food for me and the dogs but I WANT FISH & CHIPS!
  22. Can't say I've ever fed fish and chips because the cupboard was bare but the dogs do love sharing chippies! Mmmmm feeling like fish and chips now! Mine end up with a weird combo of eggs, ricotta cheese and what ever else is around.
