  1. Seeing as they are selling it in the supermarket they are going to have to keep it competitive with the other ranges.
  2. I have 2 dogs. Poppy still howls when I leave. A second dog did totally fix my first border collie who was quite destructive in the garden, talking eat apple trees level of destruction! He was obviously just bored. Poppy likes her doggy friend but wants me. I am lucky that she doesn't do anything bad about it all apart from some howling when I leave. Ok she also resource guards me when out and I can't tether her. But no damaging of herself or property. And luckily I also work from home!
  3. Australia does export dog food to Asia. That is how one of the Australian brands came about. The price of it has gone up heaps now though.
  4. I go to dog club at least once a week and train and I don't compete :)
  5. There are some pivot turns that might be a problem. Also some jumping and walking backwards in the higher levels. But you could still go to classes and see how you go. It is fun. Somethings Poppy doesn't do very prettily because of some issues but she loves doing it.
  6. The minerals in TOTW are all chelated minerals. So it's good. Someone said the VIP 3kg bag is about $14.89. That's very nicely priced! TOTW would be waaaaaaaaaay pricier. Have you considered a plan B? There's a promotion here on Canidae Grain Free. http://www.robbospetbarn.com.au/products/c-362/DOGS/FOOD/SUPER-PREMIUM/CANIDAE/GRAIN-FREE.aspx It works out to be cheaper than TOTW and but still pricier than VIP. My dogs have done the worst on Canidae out of all the products I have fed. And I have pretty much tried every product on the market. The BEST dog food is the one that your dog does best on.
  7. Oats should be ok. I wouldn't feed the fish, use egg whites instead. She would probably only need 1 egg white as she is little. Size is often an indication that the dog has a liver problem. People think my border collie is a pup still. Hard to tell with your dog though as she is a cross, so hard to say if she is smaller then she should be. I normally just mix a scoop of the Pediasure up with a bit of water and feed that. It tastes like vanilla. All my animals have thought it is pretty good. Helped my girl a lot when she was totally refusing to eat. She needs to stay on the antibiotics.
  8. You are looking at around $5000 for the surgery. I went to Melbourne Veterinary Specialist http://www.melbvet.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp?id=home. My dog wasn't able to have the surgery as she has multiple shunts. Do not feed her any normal food. No treats. No biscuits. Just the L/D. This is very important. You need to rest her liver. The only other protein source you can try is egg whites with some veggies. The other thing you can give her to keep her going is Pediasure. This is a child's version on Ensure and is for sick children. You can buy it from Chemist Warehouses, it is near the infant food. Is she on antibiotics? Other medicine?
  9. I can never tell which dogs mine will react to. There are certain breeds that they have issues with but that isn't always a given. Poppy HATES GR for some reason, she finds them very offensive. Last week she happily walked past 3 of them that were being quite bouncy and even wanted to say hi to them. There is a Cav that has major issues, goes totally nuts when it sees a dog and they both ignore it. I feel really sorry for its owner. Even barking dogs behind fences - some they react to, some they totally ignore. Then there is the large GSD that went nuts once, both dogs choose to veer across the road just before his house! Since I've been walking them every day Poppy is getting heaps better. The only dog she reacted to at school yesterday was Amber! That has to be a first.
  10. 4 Leggs Puppy. No chopping required :) Freezes well. http://www.4legs.com.au/products/puppy_food.php
  11. I wouldn't call her. I would go get her. I would put her on the lead and do a very intense series of exercises to get her focus on me. I would be fairly Sargent Majorish about all this. There would be no treats. I tend to yell out stop or wait btw rather then a recall. This seems to penetrate quicker. The breed maybe. Then call back if you have attention or go get. Best though is to learn to catch them prior to them 'losing their head'. You have a short period of time (seconds) were you can usually see that it is going to happen. Call back then or ask for drop, wait, stop etc
  12. My first thought is that whilst your dog obviously has something going on with its liver you can not diagnose a shunt from blood work. You need to do a ultrasound, CT, surgery etc It is interesting that her bile test was higher after eating as usually it is the other way round. Btw my dog who has multiple shunts had a much lower bile result. So maybe a second opinion is needed firstly and from a specialist. What medication is she on? Are you feeding her anything apart from the L/D?
  13. I loved my booster bath. Found it easier on the back then the hydrobath.
  14. Amber has had a couple of phantoms. One she had a fair bit of milk. Lots of digging. Lots of sooking. Then coat totally gone! She was more dramatic about it all then the bitch I had that actually had puppies
  15. I also suggested, very early on, that Roo should be PTS. I said this because I felt that Jelly was asking permission to do this, or needed to know that this step was a possibility at least and that she would be supported in it. So I still support Jelly if this is the way she wants to go. At the moment I am feeling like she needs some space so maybe we should give her that.
  16. It is harmless in that you can use it in your garden under certain conditions. You are supposed to let the spray dry before letting the dog back into the garden. Drinking a heap of it wouldn't be good. Hope your dog is ok.
  17. Ecopet used to be good. I don't see it around as much anymore.
  18. Here it is - http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-croydon-113218703
  19. I saw a really interesting garden the other day on the real estate website. It just had a couple of paths, some trees and bark. Looked nice. I'll try and find it.
  20. You asked Rascalmyshadow the question and as I had a similar issue I responded with my experience. Just trying to help.
  21. My vet said that the suture had failed without surgery. Just by manipulation.
  22. If I had given Fern painkillers she would still have limped because the joint had scarred over. She was limping due to mechanics not pain.
  23. You can thaw, cook and refreeze but not thraw and refreeze raw.
