Was it fiddly to set up? Looks a bit painful on the YouTube clip. -
Very Light Soft Crate Or One That Is Easy To Carry
JulesP replied to JulesP's topic in General Dog Discussion
That was the one I remembered seeing before but I couldn't find it, so thanks! -
The dog's track at the new house is right around the garden next to the fence. I'm happy with that as you can't see it. They don't make a track from play zoomies.

Can anyone recommend a crate that is either lighter or easier to carry than a K9+ or K9 pro type crate? Ok they aren't that heavy but when you have 2 dogs and a bag it all gets rather awkward!! I think I saw some that folded up like a chair once, does anyone have one of those?

New Dog From Breeder.. Something Not Right......
JulesP replied to mel121's topic in General Dog Discussion
The breeder could be sick, could be on hols. Or could be dodging you. Do they have a Facebook page? Any activity on that. Try calling from a different phone too. -
That is true  Yep agree. I taught one that decided he didn't want to go in the car and he was just a pup. No way in hell could the owner get him to budge!

I just read in the supermarket thread that you can tie Roo up outside the supermarket. I thought that was interesting as I couldn't do that with my girl that has a bit of SA. She would be out of that collar in a flash and trying to find me. I would let your trainers know that about Roo.

I moved from acreage to the burbs about 3 months ago. I have 2 border collies. I was a little concerned about whether they would be bored. I took a lot of care to find the right house and garden. So far it is all going well. The only drama has been one of the neighbors has chickens and we had to reinforce the fence a bit. The dogs are loving their daily walks. One of them is currently scratching on the door as a hint, lol. One of the reason I purchased this house is because it has a nice quiet off lead park right near it. The dogs are actually better behaved with other dogs now that they are going out for a walk everyday rather than just running around my paddocks. I would be trying to find a quiet offlead area so your dog can have a bit of a run. I wouldn't be walking onlead in an offlead area though if your dog is doing to do the paw thing because you are going to get dogs approaching. As much as we might say that this shouldn't happen it does. If I saw you coming with your dog on lead I would be putting mine back on lead but most people will not do this. From experience with plant chewers, this current plant is a lost cause unless you put it somewhere that she can't get it. Nice of you to keep re-potting it for her though

I reckon they always look sad

Breeders - Why & How Did You Start Out?
JulesP replied to Schnooze's topic in General Dog Discussion
I bred my one and only litter about 15 years ago so things were all a bit more simple then. :) I purchased a very nice bitch and titled her in obedience. I didn't have much interest in showing, thought it was a bit poncy to be honest. I went to some club shows but preferred the obedience stuff. I decided to have a litter purely for the experience! Sure that will freak some people out. One reason I got an obedience title was because I didn't want to do showing and I wanted my girl to be worthy of breeding. I called up the president (I think that is what she was at the time) of my breed club and enlisted her help. She picked a couple of male dogs that she thought would be suitable for my girl. So I got help from the club and also help from the owner of the male dog. One of the pups was pre-ordered by another showie so more help there. No one made me feel like as a newbie I shouldn't be breeding. I was just offered support. It was lovely. Unfortunately my girl had to have a c-section and that freaked me out a lot and I have never bred another litter. The puppies themselves were a wonderful experience though and I am proud of what I bred. My dogs are firstly family members. -
The dogs have their own room to sleep in. They have trampoline beds with mattresses and a crate. They will probably sleep in a different, warmer room in the winter. I am a super light sleeper and couldn't have them in the same room as me, would drive me nuts.

Just wanted to let you know that I am popping in everyday too, hoping that things are improving. Sending support too.

I've used the Holistic version a lot on cats and dogs and have always been happy with it.

A M/L K9+ crate fits in a Xtrail boot with the seats up. You aren't going to get your 2 dogs in there! I fit one border collie in. The other border collie sits in the other half of the boot. The K9+ crates are actually cooler inside btw as they have insulation in the roof. If i stick my hand in the crate it is always slightly cooler.

Sorry you are going through this. Amber has something different but I was told not to vaccinate her. It meant I pulled her out of dog school and I can't kennel her. Kenneling would be a problem anyhow as she needs constant monitoring so I would only be comfy having qualified vet staff looking after her. Dog club said they would accept titre testing or a letter from the vet. Will your dog club accept titre testing? you could do that if they did.

yes... there's bone healing/growth to consider.... I'd be hesitant to desex this dog until she was fully grown and fully healed. Agree. I would be waiting.
-
I can dismiss lightly because in the case of my breed it is just plain stupid. If you can come up with a good reason that a blue merle is ok but not a chocolate merle then we can talk.
-
No idea to be honest, no one has been able to give me a straight answer. Some old biddy didn't like them.
-
How much were they? The main reason I haven't got Puppybars is the wait but umm I would have had them years ago if I had just gone on the wait list

Magic silver white is available again. It is called Brilliant silver white now. http://www.brilliantsilverwhite.com/ I found that used to be the best thing when I had a white show horse on red dirt. -
Yes they are removeable.

Having Trouble Sourcing Hills Prescription Diet

Thanks jans. I'm nearly at the end of my bag. -
These days that could be easily verified by requiring parentage DNA testing for such an unusual occurance. sure- but not when the new colour was introduced several generations back and not recorded accurately ;) None of this applies to the border collie as all the genes to create these 'rare, unrecognized' colours are there in the breed in the allowed colours. That is what bugs me the most about my breed.
