  1. Hmm bit of a common theme happening here...
  2. OT but I haven't heard that expression for years! Thanks for the lols :D Agree with everyone else, if you ask and the owner is happy for you to pat the dog then that is all that matters :)
  3. Just because it's in the psychology department doesn't necessarily mean it's cognitive psychology. Sometimes fields get lumped in with what the university considers 'best fit', depends on the researcher's field rather than the department IME. Much of behavioural psychology has been debunked as well but in the dog and horse worlds they still rely very heavily on it, some people have made a very good living out of it.
  4. I'd be going to the vet if my dog had watery diarrhea, I dismissed the odd bit of diarrhea and vomiting as an upset tummy in my pup I didn't realize it was actually more than just the occasional sensitive tummy issue.
  5. It's good to hear that Bison is rolling along nicely :)
  6. I can understand how it happens, I'm much older than her and have bought a sick dog from a pet shop in the past so should know better but I don't know if I'd be able to stop myself if some poor soul called out to me again, that is why I avoid pet shops normally. It can be very very hard to walk away and leave them to an unknown fate
  7. Great to hear he is coping well with his treatment and still very much himself :) Everything crossed here that it is successful.
  8. I doubt it. Anonymity inspires folk to do things they otherwise wouldn't. An absence of real life consequences for poor behaviour is always going to be asking for trouble and frankly there are some right toxic individuals here. Padraic I seem to recall you came in swinging here... that might explain some of the grief you've been getting. Yes there is a certain amount of anonymity on forums but it doesn't last, there would be very few people here that no one knows in real life. We have seen evidence of that in times of emergency when usually someone knows how to get in contact with someone from here. As time goes on the anonymity aspect will become less and less relevant as human nature means that connecting with people on a forum makes them want to connect in other areas, hence the social gatherings, facebook groups etc. That's what I think (and hope) anyway.
  9. We all have a "trial by fire" padraic... hang in there, and you'll make some really great friends around here... honest! T. Yep the baptism of fire is very much alive and well, it's a shame and I don't really think it should be that way. Hopefully as social networking evolves the mechanisms of courtesy and respect that are integral in most other forms of social interactions will become more and more uniform across this medium as well.
  10. Thanks yeah that one is a bit arty and turned out really nicely I should try and print it up :)
  11. Awesome pictures! Thanks so much for sharing these :)
  12. They are lovely aren't they! I couldn't figure out whether the white horse was cremello or perlino, either way he was awfully cute, glad I wasn't handling him though he was a bit naughty!
  13. Finally I got over to the dog ring to catch the end of whatever it is the dogs do :p
  14. Then came the paint horse classes
  15. Still working on my camera skills, I meant to get some showjumping pics but I was too slow and by the time I got there they had finished but I got a few other pics people might like :) The quarter pony classes: Nearly copped a kick! Then the outback riders came in a did a bit of a hoon around with their flags and stockwhips
  16. Sounds like a nomination to me. Thank you Sarasmum for taking time out for woofnhoof. Oh piffle. I just wanted to see what Woof had her Kindle dressed in ;) It was a pleasure. Lol kindle talk is indeed theraputic :) You are a champion
  17. Great pics! You can probably send the pics or a link to them via email to the show organisers, they might have an email list or know one of the local clubs and could forward it on? The last time I took pics at a club event I emailed the pics to the club president so they could forward it through the membership, I don't know if they did but I gave it a shot :) Might take my camera out to the Toowoomba show today and get a few happy snaps :)
  18. I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank Sarasmum who came and visited me in hospital when I was far from home and brought me some wonderful clothes and chocolate which I badly needed! :D I still haven't found a way to thank her properly but she made such a huge difference, as did everyone's thoughts during that time, it definitely helped me through it :)
  19. I'm not sure but I would think it would depend on the individual policies of local councils AND whether or not those policies are carried out/enforced. Not a nice thing to think about for sure but perhaps worth checking with councils.
  20. Thanks Ams they were having lots of fun :)
  21. Unfortunately my photography skills have not improved but nevertheless I soldiered on and took some pics of the doggies for a change so enjoy :)
  22. Got a few more today and tried not zooming unfortunately when I crop them they still don't look that good, he was a fair way away from me though he is usually either too close or too far away A few closer ones
