    Rocco

Serena, wonderful tribute to someone you and many DOL members loved very much. Rocco will be with you forever and we will remember him. My first encounter with DOL was all about Rocco. Thanks to your art, he has gained immortality (whatever its worth). Thank you Rocco for sharing your life with your human partner. Thank you Rocco for being the wonder dog. Run free the Magnificent One.
  2. 3 x day meals here - the babes don't get more food, it's just spread over 3 meals. They get breakfast, lunch and dinner. 3 x day feeds were recommended by a vet I really trusted and the babies are happy. Fortunately OH works from home so it's easy to do. BTW, we've been doing it for 5 years
  3. Getting up at 5am in winter to take the dogglets for a walk, stressing like crazy at the smallest itchy spot, making sure there are "enough" toys in the house to keep them entertained, and yes picking up the poo thing without any probs
  4. I've read somewhere that it's a self-calming behaviour and not about being weaned too young. Since dog's intelligence is estimated at the level of 3-4yo child I guess a pacifier is handy when trying to make sense of the world
  5. Oh well Anne, I'd miss out on the dogs you have available for rehoming. BTW I DO realise how difficult it is with the rescue stuff. Especially coordinating things - been there, done that, and miss it terribly these days. You are obviously a much better person than I am - you are still involved in rescue
  6. As a dog adopter, I'd run 10000 miles away from someone who was not prepared to do some major grilling. I'd expect some serious verification by the breeder/rescue group that I could offer the "right" home to their dog.
  7. I'll try I've been meaning to capture those special KI moments and will share. We've even considered changing his name to Elvis.
  8. You lucky people..... at least there is a pillow! My desexed boy (avatar) performs his Big M routine with his front paw. He sits on his butt and just goes for it. He rolls his eyes, makes stupid faces and throws in a few calming tongue flicks. It's more of a special massage and no pinky bits ever come forth We don't stop him - he seems to enjoy himself a lot and we (2 adults) get a mighty good laugh. Win-win situation IMHO.
  9. Because dogs need the daily news fix+. (+ means that I suspect some serious porn. The 3 of them (all desexed) wear very funny smirks after reading some of the dog news).
  10. Come, come Nannas, a little understanding would do you a whole lot of good. Please consider how difficult it must be for Tango to adjust. Imagine how scared YOU would be in these circumstances. Before you respond, please remember that 1) Dogs ARE intelligent 2) Dogs think 3) Dogs communicate 3) Dogs have learned the good and the evil ways from the primates they love (ie us) I think Tango Dog is doing brillianly!
  11. I've been lurking and praying, praying that all goes well (haven't posted much lately ) To those mighty ad/promo people of oldies rescue.... This (IMHO) is the most appealing, the most convincing statement I have seen in a loooooong time. Heck, it makes me want to adopt a 4th dog as long as it's an oldie (cannot do atm but will in the future!). So please use it - It's full of feeling, it's convincing, it's magic!
  12. Nothing works better than ripping old tissue boxes to bits (especially when there is a treat inside a box).
  13. I have found lamb necks are ok. After giving them lamb necks, I make very sure that they have plenty to drink and soft food for the rest of the day. If things are a bit slow, virgin olive oil on their food works a treat.
  14. Just checking on the gorgeous May... and praying, praying, praying that May is ok Thoughts and wishes of heath, calm and happiness to you May and your wonderful human carers.
  15. Big hugs and thoughts of a good outcome.
  16. That's apparently a symptom of food intolerance. We had a similar problem. On vet's advice, we removed beef from her diet and she is 100% again.

    Dog Treat's

We give our girls lamb necks once a week. Keeps their pearly whites clean, their breath fresh and they have loads of fun. I'd consider changing his diet.
  18. Very diluted ACV is the best hair rinse ever - for hoomans & dogs.
  19. Maybe, just maybe it's all about "good dog manners". If you are ok with your dog running in front of you - that's grand. If you want them to say behind - that's ok too. I think the most important thing is that your expectations are met. As long as the dog WANTS to listen to you... all is well (that's the school I subscribe to )
  20. OMG what a heartbreaking story... Thank you so much sharing and warning us. May I cross-post on another forum please.
  21. Clyde, I have tried Kluska on other omega supplements, but this is the only one that works for us. If you decide to give it a go, I would just go Megaderm and no other supplements. Check out specials on www.vetproductsdirect.com.au/itemdesc.asp?ic=1707&eq=&Tp=. Good luck Clyde, I just saw your post. Megaderm was recommended to me by a vet who I absolutely trust. He has helped me with lots of things (at no cost) via Kluska's breeder. Pity he is in far Qld and I have never met him.
  22. Clyde, try megaderm - a concoction of omega 3, omega 6, zinc and trace elements. I cannot praise it enough - Kluska's summer itches have disappeared since we started her megaderm.
