  1. So she has only peed herself twice? Or has it occured again?
  2. I agree that it could be her collar rubbing. I would wait to go to the vets. Maybe try some baby Curash cream to sooth the area.
  3. 600g is fantastic for a week. She must have been feed sooooo much before she came to you if you are still feeding 3 chicken necks plus dry food and she is losing weight.
  4. What about Dogs in Motion in Doveton? http://www.dogsinmotion.com.au/physiotherapy.php
  5. So glad Charlie is home and seems to be on the mend. I probably would be feeding him cooked chicken breast whilst his tummy still isn't right. Easier for his little tummy to digest then raw stuff and processed cheese. (yes I am a BARF fanatic but in this case Charlie needs spoiling ) You're a great mum not caring how much your little boy cost to save. I am sure he will repay you ten fold with love and devotion. Edited because I can't spell.
  6. More likedly he is licking his paw because it hurts so his natural instinct is to try and clean and make it better himself. Nothing to do with him liking the taste of what is on it.
  7. Maybe the stuff you use to get rid of excess wax after waxing might do the job. You can get bottles of it at places like Hairhouse Wharehouse.
  8. Could you try hand scissoring him yourself slowly over a few days? If he is timid he probably is more likely to trust you and be calm for you.
  9. Agree with the others he is trying to get rid of something in his tummy, digestive tract that doesn't agree with him. Usually is something they can't digest so they try to throw it up. I probably would only be worried if he was constipated as well then that could mean that there is a real blockage.
  10. Goes off to google what the ingredients of Farrells 4x2 greyhound biscuits are. Bringing my esky and fold up chair to watch the sideshow. I put flaxseed oil into the veggie/fruit slops that I make up.
  11. Ohhh god I wouldn't have injected an already sick dog with more chemicals which is what your vet has done by giving her the heartworm injection. Poor kid hope she recovers from all of this soon.
  12. The only thing I have heard about broccoli is that it can cause excess gass in a dog.
  13. But if he is very itchie right now wouldn't it be better to give him some relief, with an antihistamine, then for the itching to end up chronic and for him to have to go on cortisone because he has scratched himself red raw. I sure as hell can't stand it when a dog is constantly scratching and I am sure it is very distressing for them also. I give my pug boy a claratyne tablet every few months if he starts to itch. It stops the itching from going on for days and days. I know many other pug owners that use antihistamines every now and again. Claratyne is probably one of the safest antihistamines as the actual make up of it makes it unable to get into the CNS. Reading back on your post it sounds like your dog has a yeast infection. ie is overloaded with yeast. When he starts getting itchie does he have a funny smell?
  14. I would be interested in you discussing Carpel Flexural Deformities. The causes, management and treatment. Also hemivertibrae. The causes, management and treatment.
  15. Um no he wont. They are a hell of a lot better then long term cortisone usage. I bet when you get to your vets today they will deal you out some cortisone, some antihistamines, may even give you dog a shot of cortisone, and try to get you to change your dog over onto a specific dry food that they sell to do an elimination diet.
  16. Poor baby. I can't really add anything other then it's probably a good idea to go and get a big syringe, 60ml, and syringe into her water, electrolytes and even food. What have you been feeding her when she was eating?
  17. Probably just have to work out the dosage rate as it is probably different in a cat. ie. how many mls per 1kg or body weight.
  18. If your dog is eating a good raw diet then it should be already getting enough iron and trace minerals. I say save your money and don't use them. Probably the only time that I would use something like that is if blood tests had shown that my dog was low in iron or other trace minerals.
  19. I would cancel the vet appointment as they will try to prescribe cortisone which is not good. Save yourself some money and get some Claratyne (human antihistamines) tablets and try him on one a day for the next few days. Should make a massive improvement. Does he eat dry food or any other sort of grains in his diet? If so this could also be the source of some of his itching as preservatives and grains cause alot of skin problems in dogs.
  20. Sounds fantastic. Can anyone attend if we RSVP?
  21. Please don't let the cost of desexing stop you doing it. Save up and be a responsible pet owner.. I'm ot sure of the cost of desexing for that size of dog but by all means shop around. Do ring up other vets and ask for a quote. The RSPCA charges ------- Dog Castration 15-30kg $209.00 ------------ for non members. Maybe book him in there. http://www.rspca-act.org.au/pages/page141.asp Is he microchipped?
  22. OMG poor baby. Hope he recovers fully. I so wont be going to Jell's Park with the puggies now. Do you have a crate you can keep him in? Maybe there are some vitamins and minerals that would be good to give him to help him recover.
  23. The puppies I have had I have fed minced chicken carcusses and lamb bones to not chicken necks as they have been to small to cope with them. For my adult pugs I cut the chicken necks up into bits about half the size of an index finger, many many many other pug owners I know do this as well. The pugs still chomp on eat bit but when they swallow there is never a risk that that bit will block their airways like if thy swallowed a whole neck. I suggest you try cutting the necks up and see how she goes. Get her some lamb bones, ribs and backs, and she should have no problems with them.
  24. If it is a staph infection then cleaning it with an antibacterial wash like Physohex (human acnea facewash bought from chemist or Priceline) and putting on an antibacterial cream should help. Maybe try this for a week if you see no improvement, or it's getting worse, then your vet is your best bet.
  25. Good on you for taking this boy back into your life and trying to get him the medical help he needs. There are many, what I would call unethical, breeders out there that would not have.
