I know my lot are only half poodle but quite a few times when Cooper has been sitting up in the car, we get some funny looks. one day I was putting money in the meter and a little boy was staring in the window of the car where Coop was just sitting looking out and he said to me, Is that a human I said na, it's my dog he just said wow I couldn't tell!!
  8. Glad to hear Renae is feeling better today!!
  9. Hi Jess, The bell I use is a miniture cow bell, so it has a ring loud enough for me to wake up but not loud enough that it is annoying. The bell came as a present from my SIL so I dont know where it came from. But really you can use any old bell I would think. I have it hanging on the front door with a piece of wool. I only have it on the front door as nights are really the only time it is needed as during the day, if Im home and they are inside they just go to the door if they wanna go out. Maybe with Zee try one bell for a start on a door she uses mostly, then if it works add the other two, poosibly having three to begin with may confuse?? I know a few others that have also used the bell with great success. we thought Bronson (the youngest) would play with it but he just watched Tully and he knows if he wants to go he just rings it. I have it hanging at nose level. I taught Tully to ring it with her foot but she uses her nose and the others do as well. You just have to get them to make it ring and you are there. With Tully I waited till I knew she would be due for a wee and then Id put it into pracitce so she got the bell = wee anyway good luck I hope it works for you and Zee gets back into her routine soon!!
  10. Ah nom nom nom!! ;)
  11. Well they are a delicacy!! My lot..... Cooper, roast meat of any kind, liver. Lacy, anything that is food, she helped me eat the beetroot out of my salad roll today. Tully, Ice cream, chicken necks/wings. Bronson, anything food but mostly meaty bones.
  12. Thats awesome!! Well done.... With red bubble do you have to pay to have an account with them?? Or is it like flickr, how does it work?
  13. Hi Jess, I just wanted to tell you a little trick I did with one of my girls, totally different situation, but the solution may work for you too?? Tully was toilet trained really early but she would go to the door and just sit there with out making a sound and just wait for me to come to let her out, now this was fine during the day when I was around to see her, open the door and out she goes. BUT at night she did the same thing which posed a problem if I was fast asleep, (the others woke me to go by either barking or nudging the side of the bed.) But Tully just went to the door and sat and If I didn't come to let her out there would be a puddle in the morning. So I got a bell and hung in on the door and for the next few times she needed to go out when she sat at the door I would tap her foot on bell and then let her strait outside to do her business. My OH said oh that is never going to work but by the very next night she was ringing the bell by herself, we were both shocked that she caught on so quick but it works so well now 2 of them use the bell at night to let us know if they want to go out which is not often but it works so well. Lacy doesn't use the bell but just stands next to the bed and barks at me to wake up if she needs to go and Bronson is in his crate so if he needs to go he just gives a little cry but he has a steel bladder and never wants to go out during the night, he is too busy sleeping Tully also rings the bell to let us know the cat wants to come in!! Anyway after that long winded story just thought it might work for your girl. Tez, a big from me too!! Tenties any news yet on your house??
  14. Hi Stormie, Yes your right, it does make sense that the IV fluids would not have gone through her stomach, thats just typical of me not getting my facts right, it happened a long time ago. The bottom line is she died in the vet clinic that night all alone and in pain. It is easy to lay blame but who is to blame, ourselves? yes probley she must have ate something she shouldn't have?? The vet, maybe he should have done an xray then he would have seen the blockage and she may have lived?? Its all what ifs, I realize sometimes things happen that are out of our control and there is nothing we can do about it especially after the fact. also my faith in vets has been jaded not only from this incident but many others over the years. I'm sure a lot will agree it is hard to find a good caring vet that you trust 100 percent. But on the other hand I have heard lots say they are totally happy with thier vet. Anyway just for the record I realized I was probley out of line posting this here but I would not have posted it if Renae had of still been at the vet clinic!! Anyway Jules how is the little possum, hope she is well and truly on the mend!
  15. What an aweful thing to have happen, so glad she is home safe and sound now!! I can understand you feeling you have let her down as the thought of her being there on her own and knowing she would have been anxious is just aweful. Don't beat your self up too much, you didn't really have a choice, as we usually trust what the vets tell us, as they said she got the fluids she needed. Hope fully it was just a tummy bug and she will be all better soon. I am paranoid about leaving mine over night, have never had to do it and hopefully never will. Years ago my Cocker Spaniel 13 years old had something wrong with her, we didn't know what but she was crying in pain and we took her to the vets and they did a few tests and said she had a high content of fat in her blood and she needed a drip and had to stay over night. My mum rang the next day to see when we could come andf pick her up and the vet told mum she had died over night. No one was at the clinic with her, she died on her own, in the cage with no one the problem was she had a blockage, and the vet didn't realize this so by putting the drip in filled her up till her tummy burst and the rest is history. Our family has never got over this to this day, we were just devestated to say the least. I don't have much faith in vets and can't help but always think of this as it had such a big impact on us. Jules give Renae bug hugs from us. Love the photo, she has such an adorable face!!
