  1. Hi Jess, Glad Zee is feeling much better! With Laura I will definatley pass it on but I'm guessing She wont be up for it for a long while now as her baby is due around mid June. She also has the new pup now (that was him in the earlier photos) Jess with the Delta stuff, even if you get your guys assessed when the time comes, and you never know maybe a facility would become interested around your area and it would be easier to go to if it was close. Thats what originally put me off getting my girls assessed before now as I would have had to travel to Geelong to do visits and it just wasn't feesible for me to do. The next assessment will be sometime in the next 6 months and initially it is an appointment for the dogs which doesn't take long then the following week after that it is the handlers training day which goes for most of the day. Shan has all the info she can email you and then you will have it all so you can have a read and see whats involved.
  2. I'd call recalling off a ball to be a "reasonable" request, though - it's similar to calling a dog off a prey item like a bunny or a rabbit - so I'd say a dog that couldn't recall off a ball didn't have 100% recall. JMO for the purposes of discussion, not having a go at you. Any of my other 3 would recall off a ball chase easily but Tully is obsessed with the ball and I'm not even sure she would hear me. I will have to put it to the test next time I'm at the park with the ball thrower!!
  3. I think I can honestly say in reasonable circumstances 2 of mine have 100% recall. And by that I mean in everyday situations like off leash walks with distractions by other dogs, horses, birds, people. My white girl recalls on a dime literally as soon as I call her if she gets a long way away she spins on the spot and is right back to me. I guess that's what I call 100 % recall. However if I threw her ball and she was flat out chasing it and I called her back then she may not?? But to me that's not a normal thing to do, I wouldn't call her back if she was running to chase the ball. edited to say: in a later post I down graded my 100% to 98%
  4. Your doggy is HUGE!! She is lovely, its funny how she is nearly up to the roof of the car. Can you tell me do your back seats move forward at all, like I mean slide forward? also it looks like there is 4 seat belts in the back seat but it says it is only a 5 seater?? I haven't had a chance to get back to the car yard and are still waiting to hear about finance so not much point yet but just want to be prepared. Arghhh I really love the Tucson but my head is still telling me that the wagon is going to be more practical.... although on long trips on my own the Tucson would be much better. I think I won't make up my mind till I have a drive but it is good to see photos, the photos make it look really roomy inside!! Oh I just thought of another question, does it look like a cargo barrier could be fitted? I seen one driving around town the other day with a cargo barrier but when I looked at the car there didn't look to be any where at the top where it could be attached to?? I seen the universal one they have in autobarn and it looked like it would fit a range of cars but not sure how they work or if they need to be attached to anything at the top? Shell I bet you are super excited, there will be a huge difference between the x-trail and the corolla, you and Zero won't know yourselves!! I would definatley like to see some photos when you have it. I went to the Nissan dealers the ohter day but apparently SH X-trails are a rarity around here, if we go out of town for a look they are still on my short list. Heres a couple of pics of mine and how much the wagon suits the tribe When we go away they all seem to cope well with being in the back seat together, as soon as we hit the 100 zone they are all asleep and we know we usually have a good 4 hours or so before we have to stop, they are the most awesome travellers we don't even know they are there!!
  5. Well thats pretty cool then, I'd love to enter that pic I took of Coop jumping over the ditch, will have to go check out the site in more detail. Thanks Bec!!
  6. Hi that comp sounds really good, I had a look around the site and it doesn't say it in plain english that I could see but I wonder if you can only enter a photo taken by a canon camera??
  7. Georgous Bec, I especially love the bed ones, she looks like she is posing and doing the bedroom eyes
  8. It certainly was a great day!! Thanks quoll, but it wasn't all me I can't take all the credit, only for the photos!! And don't worry I intend for my cakes to always be yummy!!

  11. Hope your little girl is ok. Sending healing vibes your way!!
  12. All finished now and a few of the dogs had another run. Cooper in amongst them. have a look at Ralph ( far right) the expression on his face is hilarious!! A great day was had by everyone and apart from the a tiny shower out of no where the weather was even kind to us!!
  13. Recalls with the ball rolling past as a distraction. Miggy didn't even look at the ball. Jane was trying to do two tricks in one as she has just learned to roll the ball with her nose. Go Jane.
  14. Tez with Jane, who I must say by the way is doing so fantastically, way to go Jane.... Shan with Miggy, looking so cute in her new bling bling purple collar!! Just had to add in here one of this litte fella Max and his Choccy Lab Zac, they are a great little team, he is our youngest handler. Clever Miggy!
  15. Lacy loves puppies Jane loves puppies too!! a few of the dogs had a play Jane says hello to Ridgie George, (he is the biggest Ridgeback I have ever seen) Another one of Harvey cause he is sooooo cute!! Time for all the big dogs to have some fun.
  16. Hi Guys today at our obedience club we had a fun day which we have occasionally. It is just a day we have where we don't do formal training but instead we play games with the dogs that involve all the usual things they have been learning. The 3 DOLers present were me (behind the camera) Tez with Jane and Shannon with Mawson. This little boxer pup was called Harvey it was his first day. Boxer lover Shan Honed in on little Harvey Then along came Simba, here is Cooper and Lacy saying hello Check out Simbas face in this one Harvey was very reluctant to begin with then he came out of his shell!
  17. Ah yes I can see it now, I looked at the pic for 5 mins trying to figure out what it was?? Poor Skip. It looks very dry where you are.
  18. What is it? those claws are huge!! Is it a wild dog or something?
  19. Great shots and beautiful doggies!! Love the one of Mya with the tail straight up in the air. What kind of camera is it?
  20. Hi Tanya, I wish I had of read this earlier, we have just been up to Albert park. There were lots of horses up there today but I think my lot are getting used to them now as we have seen them a lot. We have been having a walk most Sundays after training latley, so you might like to join us then. Glad your legs getting better, You would have been glad to get rid of the crutches.
  21. I just had a look at the links to teaching the bell method and It all looks good but much more complicated than how I did it. I think if you have a smart pup she will catch on very quickly which ever way you do it!!
  22. The bell I use is just like a mini cow bell hung on the door at doggy nose height, You could use any bell I think as long as the sound of it doesn't drive you mad every time it rings, mine is kind of a subtle tone if that makes sense. I didn;t read anything about teaching the bell method, I just did what suited my dog and that was when she was due to toilet, I tapped her foot on the bell and out for a wee and that was it, she got it more or less right away and by the next night she was ringing it herself to go out. I was pleased she piicked it up so quick and the others learnt off Tully so it is a win win especially during the night if I am asleep, if she wants to go she touches the bell and I wake up, its so easy and fool proof really!!
  23. I would at least report it to the council. When I got bitten last year, (dog went to attack my dog and I got in the way.) I had a hole in my leg, I went to the doctors and had to have tetnus also a course of antibiotics which the doctor said was really important as the skin had been broken. Also the doctor asked a lot of questions about the attack and made a note of it all.
