  1. Palmolive dish washing detergent or a hand cleaner for mechanics, only on the spots and rinse well.
  2. I have a 14 yo dog here who has been blind for several years, she navigates up and down the stairs, explores the yard, bosses the other dogs and generally is enjoying her golden years. I would never consider Euthing her over her eyesight.
  3. Only if the roo has not been grazing on chemically treated land and crops.
  4. These were my thoughts as well, not to mention the risk to fingers and equipment. I don't see how the molars could be done very thoroughly at all.
  5. right so restrict who owns them ...gotcha BSL means what exactly?
  6. The breed of dogs that kill is of consequence and should not be discarded. Yes, these dogs did manage to get out due to an irresponsible owner and set out on a killing spree, it was the dogs' decision to kill! How they managed to get into the other property, I have no idea but they obviously heard the barking of those poor chihuahuas and thought all their birthdays had come at once. How many cavaliers or westies out there set out on a rampage and killed other people's pets????? This prick now owns 4 of those animals, pfft pathetic country we live in. Ok, you win lets restrict all breeds that have had one of their own kill something, I'll start off by suggesting Dachshunds because one up the road killed a cat, a min foxie and 3 chooks, and the dally I used to live next door to that killed a silky T .
  7. I would be feeding a more nutritionally dense food, that way you wont have to try and get him to actually more food. Other things to try are lamb or mutton breast they are excellent for adding condition and good for his teeth as well.
  8. I think you mean ADVOCATE, Advantage only treats fleas.
  9. What do you think this is Abigail??? If this is not BSL what on earth do you think it is???
  10. This is correct, you are also using them contrary to the manufacturers directions, which leaves you out in the cold if anything was to go wrong.
  11. Embarrassing? Rest assured that I am well aware that not all dogs of any particular breed are open to aggression, as I have said earlier, there is always the exception to the rule and I am sure that there are quite a few staffies out there that would not hurt a fly. I am also aware that all breeds of dogs can be DA including the fluffy white dogs but if, say, a german shepherd was to fight against a staffy I bet I know which will be more severely affected. You are making these dogs out to be some sort of super dog. What sort of comment is this that people actually think this way
  12. I am not defending the behaviour of the owner, nor anything else, for that matter. But here it is again .... signs of WHAT aggression? How do you KNOW it was aggression, LouiseBrooks. No-one should be putting labels on these dogs nor of their behaviour if you don't know what behaviour it really was. Whether you like the behaviour or not, it is not something that should be subject to these assumptions. Think before you shed your opinion and express your opinion on what you KNOW, not on what you think something MIGHT be. This particular circumstance aside, I see a lot of people who jump to conclusions. Isn't that what we tend to get critical of the media doing in various newsworthy items they report on? At the end of the day, Erny, staffies and staffy crosses, pitbull and pibull x are dog aggressive. NO two ways about this; the only way to resolve this is for shires to implement strict regulations and not allow just any tom, dick or f&&&&ng harry to be able to get hold of such breeds. I love these dogs but this is one breed of dog that requires a fort knox situation to make sure that noone has to lose their beloved pets at the jaws of such dogs. This is the sort of tripe that enables BSL and allows it to continue. I suggest you go and educate yourself before you make such broad statements in the future.
  13. It is pretty easy to teach a dog to accept being dosed with medication, and if they ever need to be hospitalised they will manage much easier of they accept it readily. You don't have to force it down their throat. I insist upon it with all mine, they get used to it from the time they are small pups. Medicating and nail clipping seem to bring so many owners unstuck, I don't know why.
  14. Thanks MM I did do the google but was not assured re the specific reason i wanted it for,I have heaps of cleaners, thus reason for posting hopefully others have had both to compare etc. Double the quantity for less re the Simple Green....but.....does it do the urine clean-up as apparently the Urine Off does. We use Urine Off at work, and it is very good, it also neutralises the disgusting pong of anal glands.
  15. Most of the Vets in this area make use of the Council incinerator for disposal of small animals. Others go to the animal dump where they are covered over at the time. In both cases it means they are frozen until either option happens. Horses are either buried or burnt if Euth happens in a suitable place or some may be transported to the doggers and he takes care of them immediately if pre arranged.
  16. Course - we should just do it out of the kindness of our hearts right (and out of our own pockets)? Yes $8+ for a small zip lock bag, one white sticker label to go in it and the very difficult task of counting tablets is a rip off. I suppose you could also count the lifting of the pen to write the dogs name, dose and time on the expensive white sticker label as well. Wish I could get paid $8+ each time I count a packet of S8 drugs at the end of each shift at work cha ching. Dosages have to be calculated as well for many drugs maybe you would like them tossed at you over the counter for you to work it all out yourself. All this continual bitching about Vet fees gives me the shits, like any other business they have to make money and cover the very high overheads. People bitch that that want every conceivable service available, they want the very best of everything, but it seems they want it all for nothing.
  17. The problem is we have a bunch of cowboys with lots of powers and no knowledge running around the country gut shooting cows, killing off pets, intimidating people, seizing healthy animals, most of them know next to nothing about animals because they are sourced from law enforcement backgrounds for preference, they stuff up continually and they are answerable to no one. Apart from the cases I have had personal experience with they make asses of themselves on national tv on a weekly basis for all the world to see. I am far from surprised when case after case comes to light because the reality is the whole organisation needs taking apart from the very top down. Long gone are the days when the RSPCA "for all creatures great and small" actually meant something.
  18. I hold pound dogs every week while they are PTS, the majority are young healthy dogs, and they are gone before the needle leaves their vein. It is possible for an individual animal to react badly but it has nothing to do with them not being ready to die, their age or their health.
  19. Case by case, issue by issue has to be worked thro'. It's evidence that allows for reaching conclusions. Your second statement is an over-generalisation. From my experience with them NO.
  20. This is not the only case, though this one smells. It is not good when the people at the top either don't know, don't care, or can't fix.
  21. Again, I disagree. He certainly seems to either have no control over the cowboys in the outfit, has no idea what they are doing, or simply chooses to pay lip service to those that question.
  22. A few years back I was assisting a Vet with some horse work on a property, we were there for an hour or so and the whole time a Newf bitch was laying on the lawn near the house yard fence just snoozing (watching us intently), and from time to time wandering over and getting a pat. When we finished I walked over near the fence to admire the beautiful imitation wood cabin cubby house that the clients little daughter was playing in, I had a large black blur appear and place itself between me and the child and I can tell you no one would have got close to that child. As soon as the mother caught up the dog again lay down. That little girl had a wonderful playmate guardian. Her mother told us that the child was ushered back into the house yard by the dog if she ever tried to wander.
  23. It is a bit furry, can't see the beautiful Poodle face
  24. Good for you, but the hundreds I have dealt with tell me that it is unnecessary and prolongs the procedure for the owner and the animal. So we shall just have to disagree.
