  1. Weldmesh from bunnings with c clips eltc from bunnings for joining mesh. Works well
  2. Many of us here do recognise that. I don't seem to be following you well but that's nothing new. The rules cater to the irresponsible, I really don't care about percentages, that is why we end up with the rules we do. It really is that simple. Do I get pissed off that often if you have an entire dog you are seen as irresponsible? Absolutely.
  3. The rules have to cater to the lowest common denominator. I have 3 out of 5 of mine are entire. It was 4 but I had my bitch desexed at 6 and a half for various reasons. No they don't roam and wander, no they are not creating puppies everywhere. Unfortunately idiots wreck it for people with common sense.
  4. I have just ordered one for the BRD from Lil Cracka :) very nice coats
  5. Yep ears can do crazy things - and they may well do more crazy things as yet :)
  6. Oh crap, why on earth would they release the dog? Has it been declared? You see cases such as on here where a dog was declared and detained for a long time with a large fight for him to be released due to a wound inflicted by one snap on a human. You then get this case of a sustained attack resulting in a severely injured dog and person and it's bloody released???!!!! Makes no bloody sense!!!!!!! I will do whatever it takes to save my dogs. If the other dog gets injured in the process so be it. My job is to protect my dogs to the best of my ability. A job I take very seriously. I also have a large rescue. The amount of people who just allow dogs to approach her is insane. She can get a bit overwhelmed and hyped, isn't aggressive but should a dog growl or snap it could easily trigger her. So I keep her safe by doing my best to not allow dogs to approach her. She is big, one snap could be fatal.
  7. ...to take on a 50 kg mastiff x that's brave, good on her and she definitely saved her dog's life. Amazingly brave.
  8. A break stick or cut their air off. Soubds horrendous but often bullbreeds have elongated soft palates. It can be fairly easy to cut off their air if they have a collar on (if you can hold on of course) and they will either pass out or open their mouth in an attempt to take a breathe. In those few moments you can extract the dog. I am very sorry for what your friend has been through. So horrendous. I haven't got to the bottom of the posts yet but I hope her dog is okay and I hope she heals quickly.
  9. A 12 week old pup should be on 3 meals a day. If he is vomiting early morning I would be thinking it is due to a very empty stomach
  10. Mine have coats on most of winter. If they are left outside in their yard and its cold they will have two. They have crates vetbed etc but one pulls everything out and is painful
  11. She certainly wasnt big on picking up poo either by the look of it. Ive no idea who she is but I hope she gets help for the sake of the dogs. No the kennels didn't get like that in days or weeks. I saw no pleas for help for rehoming of dogs due to dire circumstances. I did know some woukd need to be but there were no photos/info etc on individual dogs looking for homes.
  12. Even having dogs on lead in National Parks disturbs the native inhabitants. The National Parks are to keep our native creatures happy and safe hence why dogs are not allowed even on lead
  13. And shooting a dog is certainly not the worst thing that can happen if done correctly. Apparently it is also not thr first time this person has done this and other things
  14. She daid the dogs were shot as she couldn't take them all with her when she moved her business. I believe a number of Pharoah Hounds were found shot and buried as well. I have been told 5.
  15. And where do you back that up? You wouldn't have a clue how most of us train. For your interest I do postive only training, but I will growl at my dogs to pull them up in everyday life should they need it. So am I purely positive all the time, no, but yes I clicker train and use positive training methods as they work for what I do. Her issue is she claims to be something she isn't, gets herself in a situation she knows nothing about, gets nailed, then whinges about it.she got nailed becused she had no idea but also because she was trying to present a picture that wasn't true. She screwed up, she should own it not throw a pity party and blame everyone else. Show me evidence she has a clue and I will apologise.
  16. I have worked with dogs in the veterinary industry for 15 years, I have trained dogs as a volunteer trainer for years and now have boarding kennels. Not all the dogs I have dealt with are nice, some have been in lots of pain, fearful, stressed etc. In all that time, yes I have had some close calls. But I try to really read what a dog is saying and work its bubble as such. For the first time I actually had a dog connect a few months back. Long back story but a completely unsocialised 9yo stafford who gave no warning signs at all, was highly aroused due to environment and as he was being walked past other dogs he lunged towards a gate with a dog behind it, the lead stopped him so when he saw my leg move he turned and latched on to that. Luckily years of bordem in a brick paved backyard meant his teeth were worn flat so while my knee ended up skinned and bruised through my jeans there were no puncture marks. My point is I have had all sorts of dogs want to eat me or are really thinking of it as an option and I have managed to avoid it. I am not some worldwide known dog trainer, just a dog nerd with an avid interest in behaviour. These peoole should know better and be able to avoid putting themselvea in a situation where they get bitten. CM gets bitten because he goes in like a blunderbus and pushes simmering situations into explosion mode. If he took more time, worked on things a bit more and didn't push so hard dogs wouldn't feel the need to defend themselves. If an average dog nerd with an interest in dog body language can see it why can't these "experts"
  17. He is a bad sportsman and a rude arse. Who cares how many points they have. A dog with zero points may well be a stunner who has never been shown before that day. Sd to say I have seen this often in Whippets and had people pack up and leave and not coming back in for class, runner up or in show awardsbecause of a 2yo tantrum and dummy spit. You may not agree, but suck it up, shut up and use your god damned mnbers!!!! Shits me no end. Arrogant arsehole
  18. From what I have read she put herself in a stupid position, wouldn't listen and wouldn't allow them to have prong or remote training collars on as she wanted people to think these dogs were positively trained only. I think she is another with very little idea. I did research her a bit and yeh, didn't instill much faith that she has much idea what she is doing
  19. Oh and my Big Red cross breed desexed bitch is a great "guard dog" ie she barks when people turn up with her hackles up, then when they get close happily accepts pats and being told how pretty she is. Its all I want, yep someone is here, thank you BRD :)
  20. Am Staffs are crap guard dogs as general rule. Entire bitches get hormonal and moodie and are far more likely to fight. Bitches in general are far more likely to fight. My smallest bitch is a bitch and has put holes in other dogs on occassion for many wide and varied apparent wrongs. She is the fun olice and rules the roost. She is now desexed and more even nd biddable, but out of all of them she is the one who won't back down and she is left separately when I am out. I have a large desexed crossebred bitch, I would never leave her with my otehr bitch if I was not there as the little one would nail the big one and then the big one would retaliate and yeh well. The large bitch and the two Whippet boys go in together, or the working boy and the big bitch. I run two entire male whippets together and never had a cross word.
  21. I had a tetanus booster after a particularly deep nasty bite from a feral cat on my leg, that was around 20 years ago. I have had more cate bites/scratches and maulings than I care to remember. One was two deep punctures from the claws of my cat into my hand when he got a fright once, washed ot etc, next morning one finger and half my hand were swollen, by the time I got to the doc at 11am four fingers, half a thumb and my whole hand was swollen and discharging. I couldn't move one finger as the claw had damaged the tendon sheath. I got two different antibiotics but didn't get a tetanus booster as I had had one within 10 years nd it was not a wound likely to cause it. A bit of dog spit on a paper cut no matter how deep, is just about impossible to get anything, However if you are worried get a proffessionals opinion. I would wash my hand, clean it and put a bandaid on.
  22. I am surprised you didn't have any education regarding bitches from your breeders either. I know some breeders who bitches get along, but they generally ran them in male female pairs and many had bitches who would try to kill each other. When the breeder had my older bitch before she retired and came to me, had her sister as well. They always ensured there was two gates/fences/doors between her and her sister at all times. They would hunt each other and yes one would have died.
