  1. OMG!!!! Isn't he just the cutest little man ever? T.
  2. Odds are that if puppy is chewing his drip tube in under 24 hours, then he probably doesn't have Parvo... just sayin' I don't think I've seen a case of Parvo where the pup is back home and eating solids in under 3-4 days at the barest minimum. I've seen pups with vaccinosis present with a positive Parvo test, but rebounded within 24 hours of being put on a drip... and never looked back. T.
  3. I love my 100-400... and you really can get used to using it handheld... I have biceps now... lol! I got this shot handheld while the bird was travelling at least 60kph - and there's not a lot of cropping of the image either... takes some practice, but is oh so worth it! 27-10-2013-taronga 858-dixie2 by tdierikx, on Flickr T.
  4. So I can post a pic a day... even if I took them all on the weekend? T.
  5. I couldn't commit to TAKE a photo a day... I do all my photo taking on the weekends only... *sigh* I could easily POST a photo a day... but they'd all be from the weekend shoots... *grin* T.
  6. 1.95kg... getting to the top end of my hand held capabilities... *grin* Nice price on it though! I'll probably stick with my Canon 100-400mm L though - 1.3kg is much easier for me to flap about... T.
  7. *just a little bit jealous of the gorgeous puppies* T.
  8. I usually go to Symbio on saturday, and Taronga on sunday... feel free to send me a hoy and we can meet up at either whenever suits you... *grin* T.
  9. A friend of mine had a dog who was camera shy... so I just used a long lens when she was out in the yard... got some lovely photos of the dog doing her own thing, which her owner cherishes so much now that the dog has passed. T.
  10. Get the Zoo Friends annual membership - that will get you into Taronga, Dubbo, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth zoos... I paid $115 (plus $20 joining fee) for mine and it's more than earned it's keep... lol! As for Symbio - an annual pass is $80... just saying... *grin* T.
  11. I have 2 friends with the 70D... and it's image quality even in JPG mode is to die for! I have the 60D myself, and that was my upgrade from my 450D. I'd buy the 70D if I had the money... *sigh* My cousin has the Canon 24-105, and as a pro photographer, he loves it! He is using the Canon 5DS Mk1 (I think that's waht he said it was) - and he wants the 5D Mk3, but hasn't got the money for it yet. I'm no help for the shorter lenses, as I tend to do more zoom type photos (Zoo animals mostly)... I have the Canon 100-400mm 4.5-5.6 L and even though it's heavy, I love the images it is giving me on my 60D. Can't wait to try it out on the showjumping or woodchopping at the Sydney Royal... I got nice pics last year with my Tamron 18-270mm, but the 100-400 L should give even better pics... ya think? As for flashes... no idea here sorry... never used one... errr! T.
  12. The vets that give me discounts have all offered same of their own accord - I have never asked for "rescue rates" or discounts when taking any dog to a vet other than the one my rescue has a deal in place with - and those are done on the rescue account anyways, and only the rescue foster dogs get to use that account. I'd never dream of using the rescue account for my own dogs, but the same vet clinic will give me a reduced rate for my own dogs anyways - I just pay the bill at the time of consultation. I think also the fact that I'm not running to the vet for every little thing, and have amassed a fair bit of doggy medical expertise over the years, and can describe symptoms, put forward possible diagnoses, and have a pretty good idea of treatment options for various illnesses and ailments - gives me a little bit of an edge over the "average" pet owner fronting up at a vet clinic. T.
  13. Loving it FF! ... and who knew Stan found Nemo!? T.
  14. Nice!!! Do you live in Sydney FF? If so we should hook up one day for a photo outing at Taronga Zoo... what do you think? Or if you are located in south west Sydney, we could meet up at Symbio (at Helensburgh) - it's smaller and the animals are closer... *grin*... oh, and it's cheaper than Taronga... T.
  15. I get reduced rates at 3 vet clinics - for both fosters AND my own dogs - even when I designate that the dogs are my own and am happy to pay the going rate for regular clients. Then again, none of the vets see my own dogs very much at all - they are remarkably healthy specimens if I do say so myself... *grin* I have established good relationships with all 3 vet clinics, and always pay my bills at the time of consultation or within the next couple of days if I have to scrape up a bit more for an emergency visit... which goes a VERY long way towards vet confidence in a customer... T.
  16. I have seen both Parvo and vaccinosis... both look very similar in the initial stages... and both will return a positive Parvo test. Vaccinosis will see a much faster rebound after about 24 hours on a drip... If puppy is not eating the Supercoat, try the Royal Canin... it certainly won't do any harm, and if he likes it better than the Supercoat, no harm, no foul... I'd probably lace the dry with human grade chicken mince (raw) as well... worked wonders for runty/sickly pups I've had in the past. T.
  17. 3/52 Waiter, there's a hair in my meal... 18-01-2014-symbio 176 by tdierikx, on Flickr T.
  18. I had a guy at work ask me if I could take his friend's rabbit, and when I suggested that they contact Small Animal Rescue where the bunny would be desexed and found a new loving family, he was completely horrified at the idea of desexing a rabbit... muttered something about cruelty and wandered off... T.
  19. I saw a teenage dog having a tantrum and refusing to be told (but the guy's tone was more "asking" than telling, yes?) to go to his kennel. I found the subtitles of what the dog's vocalisations were quite funny... not so funny was when the dog started using it's mouth to get what it wanted. If it were my dog, I'd have grabbed the back of the harness and yanked the bugger up onto it's feet and told it in no uncertain terms that it was going to do what it was told. Playing silly games like that could lead to the "oh, he's never shown signs of biting before" scenario we hear so often in the media... T.
  20. lillypilly is possibly without internet right now, as she has moved recently... If you text her, she may be able to see if she can help... T.
  21. OMG! How do you ever discipline her for being naughty when she gives you THAT look? T.
