  1. When does he howl? Is there something setting him off? Does he howl inside and outside? When did he start? Whew! That's enough questions for now.
  2. sounds good to me. My boy turned his nose up at Royal Canin half way through his second bag and refused to eat it. The breeder suggested Eukanuba so they have been on that ever since.
  3. Where did the unspellable one come in your research? Eukanuba? My GSD's breeder recommended Eukanuba. Coda won't eat Royal Canin and we tend to use Eukanba. (He got the runs on Nutro so we only tried one bad)
  4. How old is your new puppy?
  5. Well Calamine lotion works for people - not sure about dogs. Anything oatmeal based like dermaveen might do the trick too. EFS
  6. Something herbal to sooth the itch? Callendula wash or something? Colloidal oatmeal? Think the cream is called DermaVeen or something like that. EFS
  7. Our new foster dog came into care because his humans couldn't cope with his boisterous ways. He was never allowed in the house. You can see Beau here. To give you an idea of size, he is taller than my GSD boy and weighs over 40 kg. He has no idea how to behave in the house, which isn't his fault. But I can't leave him unsupervised. Should I - put him outside and leave my two inside or - put him in a crate as soon as he plays up and then let him out after a few minutes He is hassling my GSD girl. She started it by asking him to play but now she is scared of him because he is so rough. If you pat her, he come barging in and knocks her out of the way. Do I put Jatz in a crate to give her some space, or will that make her think her crate is a punishment? We do have two crates so I could crate both of them. My two sleep inside at night, and Beau will continue to sleep outside. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I actually can't get him into a crate - he wins in any battle of muscle. But OH can when he comes home. He is just a happy wiggle bum who doesn't realise his own strength. EFS
  8. Wonder if there is any relationship between these urine burns and the brand of pet food. i.e. does anyone who is feeding their dog a "premium" dog food have this problem?
  9. My GSD doesn't finish his dinner never mind pay attention to food treats. He doesn't seem to have a prey drive either.
  10. Piximatosis my heart goes out to you having to make the hardest decision of all. Your girl is at peace now, and she would thank you for that.
  11. Chicken bones seem to be especially contentious. I have been advised by more than one vet to never feed any type of chicken bone, yet many here on DOL regularly feed chicken necks, wings and frames. My GSD boy isn't interested in a bone until it has been stripped of the meat by one of the other dogs. Then he might condescend to chew it for a bit. This seems very strange to me - offer him a lamb shank and he turns his nose up and walks off :D
  12. And the dust too. My spaniel used to get gunky eyes & our vet said as a rule of thumb they should look better in about three days with being wiped or else we should bring him in to check for infection.
  13. Erin, thinking of you at this sad time. Kelly, hope you have lots of fun waiting for your family at the bridge
  14. Well we have two + foster. You could always foster first to see how you cope with three dogs......
  15. What jesomil said. He needs "rules, boundaries and limitations" to be a happy dog. Tricky situation for you to sort out, as its like your friend needs to go to dog school.
  16. Will she walk on the lead to get to her park? Like if you parked where she could see it and then walked her on lead towards the park and gradually increase the distance?
  17. Would that be sit and stay? My new foster is also inclined to bounce around with excitement so this thread is interesting. I'd have to work on his bum being on the ground longer than the time it takes to eat the treat. Suggestions please?
  18. Hopefully she will have plenty of staffies to bash in her new place. RIP Tu

Whole heartedly agree with you - so glad I had Cordy at the end of the phone when I needed some sane advice.
