  1. RIP Jess. Good on you Kaz for taking her in for the twilight time of her life.
  2. Is this one of those situations when an electronic collar would help? Hopefully one of our resident training experts will be along soon to comment.
  3. Its been just over a week since we let you go. And it is still very strange without you. I miss your nose in the fridge every time I open it. I miss your special starving face every time food is produced. I miss how excited you got when it was time for your brush. But most of all I miss your smiley face waiting at the door for me. (And thanks Cordy for the beautiful photos.)
  4. Mine love their lamb shanks but yes, they don't last long. Haven't seen turkey drumsticks around - where do you get yours from Anniek?
  5. Robbie Dog was given his wings this morning. Be at peace my friend. We'll miss your smiling face.
  6. My English Springer seem to do just fine on SuperCoat light & mature. No difference in his poos as compared with the GSDs who get Eukanuba (or how every you spell it!)
  7. Couple of my fosters have come from the pound with KC but luckily my own dogs have never shown any sign.
  8. Coda's breeder also bred birds and cats. He knows the difference between the wild birds and my birds in the aviary. The wild birds are allowed to eat at the feeding station attached to the fence, but often get chased when they actually come down into the garden. Doesn't seem to worry the birds as they always come back.
  9. Vet might also pick up on something besides anal glands.....
  10. That's interesting - I thought if you had boys and a girl, the girl would always wind up as highest ranked. Is that just another myth?
  11. Sezy RIP Tiby
  12. Both my dogs were well over a year old before we discovered crates, and they have learnt to cope just fine with them.
  13. How do you get her to be quiet for so long? My lot start complaining around 5:30 am (They go to be around 10:00ish)
  14. Hopefully Bear and her sister are now together, happily running around.
  15. Another vote for crate training here.
  16. We have two anti-bark collars, the Innotek one and the Dogtra one. The Innotek one is easier to use - the collar is a clip type, so once you have set it to the right size all you do is clip it on each night. The Dogtra has a buckle and it is more difficult to fit consistently. The Innotek one sets the level automatically, the Dogtra one is set by the user. Both have their advantages / disadvantages. Neither of them seems to go off by themselves. My GSD barked through the first three levels of the Dogtra, so they can't be that bad. Maybe PM Steve from K9 for some advice/comment?

    Girl Dog

Yes it was strange today to see Mr Juice out walking the other three, without Girl Dog bringing up the rear at her own pace. Even though she wasn't feeling well towards the end she would still wag her tail to say hello when we met her on walks. I'm sure Oz Dog will miss her the most. RIP Girl Dog, with no more aches and pains.
  18. Whereabouts are you - maybe some one could recommend a different club if it comes to that?
  19. Think you already got good answers in the other forum. Be interested to hear what Steve from K9 has to say on the subject...
  20. Ear infections often smell like mouldy cheese. Maybe watch for a couple of days and then if the ears are still smelly maybe you could phone the vet for more advice.
  21. Some of the all-nylon collars I've seen are weird. They pull tight like a martingale, but then don't loosen off automatically like the chain would do. Guess these are not really martingales. They seem a little odd to me - what's the point if you have to slacken them off manually?
  22. I like martingales because the dog can't back out of them like they can with a flat collar. Not a direct answer to your question, but something else to think about.
  23. Doesn't having a second collar interfere with the action of the prong?
