Yes, she could say, sorry, due to unforseen circumstances, Santa wont be coming this year.

Thanks for the encouragement, I might just have to whack on the 50mm and get out there.

wow, you really changed it..........for the better! thankyou. It's good having another set of eyes looking, I cant edit anyway, that photo was only cropped, otherwise straight out of camera.

I know that often a great photo is all about telling a story. I just cant seem to do it. I feel my photos lack soul, they're just snapshots taken with a really good camera, so sometime I get some good ones, mainly action. It frustrates me sometimes that I lack that creative eye that I think is the key. Any tips on how I might be able to cultivate it. I was thinking maybe street photography, but I'm a bit shy about it, always scared someone's going to bail me up and tell me to piss off. The only time I did it I feel I did capture something, it was Anzac day last year, but I felt like I was intruding. I dont know this man but I've seen him since in the supermarket. I always feel like going up and saying hello to him, but then I remember, he doesn't know me.

He looks like he just ate Santa Claus.

Here's some from a few months ago, DOLer Sarsanets whippets. These were taken with a really slow shutter speed, 1/60th. Too slow really but I hadn't had much experience taking panning shots. I'd been trying for years with my own whippets but almost never had the chance of getting them to run side on to me.
-
thanks everyone. I was hoping this might become an ongoing thread where everyone will post their panning shots. come on!

That sounded just terrible for you all. Be very careful with her for a while, dogs are very stoic and she might still be sore after the meds wear off but not really show it much. Give her time to heal. I'm so glad she recovered from it. So many of us have similar stories. Years ago I watched one of my whippets chasing a rabbit towards a fencline of trees that had another fenceline on the side. I saw her go under once fence but then suddenly Twang! as she must have hit the other fence. I ran up to find her lying motionless and silent with her eyes open, and I thought she was dead. I carried her back inisde and she came round. I think she was knocked out, but I know that sickening feeling too well of running up to your injured dog, terrified of what you will see.

awww she'll be as trim as a whippet soon. :D

They love it dont they. They're so happy and your photos really express it.

Yep, if you're willing to buy 2nd hand then why not buy new but from an online seller. It doesn't come with a Canon guarantee but neither do 2nd hand cameras. Dont forget to buy the CF card as well though. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/product.asp?idProduct=2364

Interesting Conversation At Work Today.
Kirislin replied to Gayle.'s topic in General Dog Discussion
tell them to get back to work! silly cows. I hope you and lady #3 can help them to see the sad truth about backyard breeders and overflowing pounds. -
I've been there, it's called Dogs in Motion and it's really good. I used to take Puck there when he was a puppy in the hope of developing his deformed leg. It didn't really work but he's the best and fastest swimmer I've ever seen. He used to lap the labradors easily .

I saw some pics from the US, on a photography forum, of dogs in a public swimming pool. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1097596 The writer said at the end of the season they let dogs swim there and I thought what a brilliant idea. Once the pool is closed to people, wouldn't it be fun to let your dogs swim there. Every off season here our pools eventually get filthy and ducks live on them so no reason why dogs couldn't use them for a while before they get completely gross.

I thought we had a thread on this but I couldn't find it. I finally got a few shots where Pucks head is reasonably sharp, he wasn't racing flat out, just playing chasey with another dog, and it shows in his face. My gorgeous happy boy

Oh yeah, I didn't read it properly, I see now she says "online" doh! thanks labs.

I dont buy it, might try to sneak a peek in the newsagency.

I couldn't see them for some reason but knowing the pics you've taken I'm sure it's really really good. I wish I could see them. Is this a prelude to going professional, if so, all the best.

took my camera today. This is Jack and Rocky Jack stole someone elses tennis ball. Then Bear as well, he's a rescue, got some sort of sighthound in him, maybe wolfhound, he's very big and very stong willed. Rocky!! Look out behind you!

good job with your new camera, I agree some are overexposed but if you shot in RAW you might be able to correct them with your brightness slider. Monet n Diva's Mum how lucky are you to work with them, wow. I bet you could get some great shots.

I've trapped 6 mice just within a week! I put them on the fence post in the morning for the kookas and they're so used to it now they wait each morning to see if they're going to get one. I assume the snakes are out too. I worry about these dogs, I know Tag will have a go at one, silly boy.
