  1. I love that. Sometimes you can see their actual toes and feel them bumping their heads around. Have you got a stethoscope. It's amazing to hear their little heart beats, so fast they're almost like butterfly wings fluttering. :)
  2. I often read that people say it's the judges fault for awarding to certain kinds of dogs. So the breeders breed towards that. Then can the judges be persuaded/convinced to select for less extreme?
  3. congratulations. She looks pretty damn cute.
  4. totally off topic. Thistle your dog looks like she's lost an eye
  5. I'd like to have seen them all in a group, although I suppose they'd need a very wide angle lens. That would be a disaster with whippets. They would all be trying to outrun each other and also hunt anything else that wasn't a whippet off the beach.
  6. doesn't surprise me. I bet if you have a scratch around you will find something.
  7. I didn't know that about Scottish Folds, but I'm 100% in agreement with you regarding soundness. With some breeds now it seems routine to have to do corrective surgery due to droopy skin on eyes, so many breeds cannot give birth normally, and that's been going on for decades. I remember my mum telling me when I was a kid that boxers and chihuahua often need caesars because the puppies heads are too big, and the bitch's pelvis too small. Even back then I thought that just seemed wrong. I'm horrified by the appearance of some dogs, for me the worst would be the Cane Corso. How it ever got to look like it does now and be considered good is beyond me. I always feel sorry for those dogs when I see them lumbering along with all that skin drooping and flopping about. I think you mean the Neopolitan Mastiff? :) Cane Corsos aren't too bad in terms of wrinkles and saggy skin. I think you're right. yep they're the ones. they lumber along dragging their skin behind them like an old blanket. slight exaggeration.
  8. I know, I like it too. thankyou everyone. It's been a while now. A friend came by yesterday and commented on how long the grass is growing. I wish all the local kangaroos would come by and eat it all down.
  9. Hoo-bloody-ray! Now to hope that soon all the other ridiculous exaggerations that have developed over the last 100 years or so, like massive coats, great dangling skin, extra short legs, over exaggerated angulation, enormous heads, tiny pelvises, bulging eyes,( that's all that comes to mind for now) will be addressed and corrected. Thought of another, irrelevant colour requirements. Not talking about ones that affect health.
  10. do you ever go fossicking for fossils in those cliffs?
  11. Wow, all the training you're doing. Impressive. I did the ENS to Nekos puppies too, exactly the same only I might have misread the instructions cause I tickled all four feet.
  12. never heard of a dog doing that before. Are they timid dogs? Maybe they dont want anyone to know they're around.
  13. hahaha, I always say things like that. I didn't know they came in that lovely silvery colour, and how exciting to be surprised with 3 more puppies than you were expecting. contratulations.
  14. My lovely vet has done this with my last 2 whippets Penny and Kibah who had to be put down, and from now on, if possible it's the way all my animals will go, even my mare recently went the same way. First I took them to the vet to be diagnosed and that final decision - confirmation that it was time. He gave them a strong painkilling sedative, I dont know what it is, but they stay conscious, just very relaxed, then he puts the needle in their arm and tapes over it and tells me to take them home. I take them home and cuddle and love them and about 2 hours later he comes to my home and they are where ever they want to be, in a dog bed, on the couch, I dont care, it is where they choose, he gives me time for more kisses, and I stay with them whispering in their ear while he administers the final injection. It's all so gentle, they just peacefully stop living.
  15. It's exactly the same reason the other Mittens got her name, and her white paws have totally disappeared now, you'd never know she had them.
  16. such a beautiful intelligent looking face. I know another Mittens with both yours and the other one, it's not the name I would expect them to be called. I think of fluffy kittens being called Mittens, not great big GSDs or Afghans  but I must say both of them are beautiful
  17. I thought she was weaned too but she surprised me by having a suckle from mummy today. Neko had been stopping her for a few days but for some reason allowed her to this afternoon. I dont even know if she's got any milk, I wonder if it's just a comfort thing. It was kinda cute.
  18. so proud of my little puppy. I've just taken her for a long walk up and down the main street here to get her used to the hustle and bustle of life. It's her 3rd walk there now and she is amazing, so tiny and yet so outgoing and happy. Once again I got all the questions, I had to answer the same ones over and over, I think I need a little leaflet to hand out, but anyway, Secret happily approaches people with waggy tail and asking for cuddles. I think we left a trail of melted hearts along the main street.
  19. It so does! The only thing I spotted that looked out of place is the collar. Otherwise I could imagine a man with a long beard, the kids with caps on and the ladies with long dark dresses and white lace.
  20. Hopefully things are going to pick up for you and you can get some more when you're up to it.
  21. I see my ex chooky girls have friends, how are they all going? Oh and the photos of your babies are gorgeous. I think our Chloe digs on the couch for attention from both us and the other dogs, she'll do it then look around to see who's watching. the girls are doing well although I had to buy 3 little chicks because I wasn't really getting many eggs from them. Esmerelda went broody so I put the chicks under her and she was rapt. She was a great mum and those chicks have now started laying. :) Betty lays sometimes too.
  22. Yes, Neko and now her daughter do the same, and I too call it digging to China. Do far the puppy hasn't had access to the sofas, but she does it on the dogs beds. Oh, and something totally unrelated, I thought you might like to see. Esmerelda's looking a bit motheaten because she is moulting. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/250847-widget-from-big-belly-to-babies/page__view__findpost__p__6803747
  23. I've kept the chickens separated from the puppies because they were just too young and I'm sure the chickens would have hurt them. Now Secret is the same age as Neko was when she met them but she's way too small, so I cannot see them mixing together for some time yet. Secret seems to be pretty bold with that screen door between them, I suspect it would be a very different story if it wasn't there. Secret and the chickens. by kirislin, on Flickr
  24. Um yes, she's going through a stage.
