I think it would be good, it's what Clicking Mad and I used to take the whippet fun day photos. If you have a Canon camera there are 4 different versions of this lens 2 with a maximum aperture of F4 and 2 with a max aperture of F2.8 and then with each you have the choice of IS or not. You wouldn't need IS for sports shots.

fantastic photos and I notice your watermark, great idea! Great name too, so apt. I reckon flyball is the most exciting dog sport to watch, much more so than greyhound racing. It's probably a good thing you cant bet on it though, that would change everything.

Always Leave With A Sick Feeling In My Tummy.

I've seen Black cockies for sale in a pet shop, quite possibly the same one you went to. A long corridor of cages with miserable but magnificent looking native birds. I only went there once, I forget why now but it was a few years ago and it has stuck in my mind, those poor bored trapped birds. -
very sorry

Steve Irwin would be turning over in his grave if he knew that poor creature was named after him.
-
I suspect my dogs would be higher at the vets simply because they're stressed.
-
Yup, which is what they were bred for in the first place.
-
Me neither, I'd love to see some fresh blood in whippets, as long as they're health tested first. I much prefer the old style smaller whippet and you hardly ever see them these days.
-
Have you entered anything? Have the winners been announced.

What Is Your Opinion On This Video?

poor dog didn't deserve to be shot and the cop was a lousy shot. -
Bel is the best! Look at the pic of her running on the raised platform, you can see everyone in the background all smiling, and probably going awwwwww cause she's so cute.
-
Bel!!!! how cute is she! All fantastic photos, I'd love to see flyball when I had a camera in my hand, I've only seen it once and it was really exciting to watch. I think it's a great spectator sport.

I have the same camera and lens as you and for the whippet fun days I used to use AV and let the camera choose the shutter speed. It was a bit hit and miss. Lately I've had more success using TV of at least 1/2000th and let the camera choose the aperture. I also tried auto ISO and WB. I shoot RAW though so I can change the WB later if I want. I've also used Manual with success, it's taken me a while to get the hang of the camera though.

Lure Coursing, Not Whippets This Time

Beautiful brindle. Any chance you know what breeder he(she's) by? sorry I dont know, but Jacobite might know. I'd never seen a brindle borzoi until these ones. Thankyou everyone for your comments, I'm glad you liked the photos. If I hear of another day and it doesn't clash with anything else I might be doing I'd like to go again. -
Thanks! :D

is it in every book store? i can go look for it next week and the reading thing wont bother me It's by Betty Edwards, I'm sure if you ask in any big bookshop if they haven't already got it they could get it in for you.
-
You are getting bolder with your shading which is good. You need to watch your proportions as well. The horse doesn't look right to me. You seem like you're really keen right now and are on a roll. A great book to buy and read (and there's alot of reading in it) while you are in this state of mind, is Drawing on the right side of the brain.

thanks guys. :D Woods Point is like stepping back to the 1940's, nothing has really changed since I first went there as a little kid, except maybe that old service station actually sold petrol then I am glad it hasn't gone all touristy, it's probably the miles of corrugated gravel roads that put most city people off. It's an incredible drive in. Once you get to Matlock high up then the road starts a steady and steep descent that goes on for about 5 ks with a drop off down the side that leaves you gasping. It's a pretty amazing drive in. I wish I had a 4wd, I'd go there alot more often, but it was a hard drive for my little buzz box car.

hahahaha re chooky. Glad you like the pics, it was quite an experience for me to see these amazing giants in action. -
Thanks for the tip i just worry i might make it to dark and it wont look to much like a lab I dont mean to just colour it all dark though, you need to make the shadows dark and the light areas and highlights light.
-
It's recognisable as a Labrador, if you shade it more so there's more defintion between the shadows and the highlighted areas it will really improve it, right now it's a bit monotone but it's a great start. Keep going!
