  1. If this breed was imported to Australia what would stop it getting into the wrong hands, there's so many breeds already in the wrong hands.
  2. you are turning into the bugqueen!!!!! Remind me what your camera and lens set up is, I realise your photos also take talent, which shows why I cant get the results you do.
  3. I think yours is much better! but thankyou. I will try again today with the macro, I had the 50 on yesterday. They are exactly as you describe zapping all over the place but they're cute little things aren't they. It's good to know you have them too, our native bees have taken a battering over the years with introduced bees, diseases, wasps and habitat destruction.
  4. I only see those little bees on that particular plant, no others. Now, I'm interested in how you managed this shot, his head and shoulders are in sunlight but the rest of him is in shadow and you've still managed to get good exposure. How'd you manage that, you genius. If it was one of my whippets I would have completely blown the white highlights. Did you have to edit this much afterwards.
  5. this little bloke reminds me of Galileo, a little dog believed to be an Iggy/Maltese cross recently rescued by Iggy rescue. Carebear, that's great that you're getting a 50mm.
  6. all of you who've posted such amazing bee pics have my complete admiration. I tried and tried and this is the best I could get, and it's heavily cropped. I might try again tomorrow though, I might have to make it my mission. Anyway, this elusive little bee is a native blue banded bee.
  7. that has to be the cutest face off I've seen. I say it nearly every day the photos on here are amazing, so many that I just look at and think Ooooh that's good! I haven't taken one for today apart from some full moon ones early this morning and none worked out. I'd better get cracking.
  8. found some fabbo pics for you but no info on camera settings, I'd guess a pretty fast shutter for these though. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showth...ng#post11491547 some more http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showth...ghlight=cycling some great shots here and a bit of info on shutter speeds for panning, much slower than I suggested. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showth...ghlight=cycling these were taken in Austraila http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showth...ghlight=cycling
  9. If you haven't got lots of experience you might be safer to just put it in sports mode and hope for the best. I would suggest sending bechandcharch a PM cause she's got quite a bit of experience photographing cyclists. If you cant get a response from her in time you'd need a fast shutter speed to freeze the action, meaning to get them looking crisp and sharp, at a guess, at least 1/1000th, if you wanted to pan so that they are fairly sharp but the background is blurry, you'd need a slower shutter speed, not sure how slow, maybe 1/200th or less? and you need to follow their movement as you press the shutter button. Panning would be more effective for side on shots. I've never photographed cyclists so I could be completely wrong.
  10. If you are buying those two you can probably sell the 18-55 amd tje 28-105 because you will have it all covered with the 2 new L's
  11. I dont usually edit mine much but I desaturated and upped the darks in this just on the Canon program DPP. Have I been a bit heavy handed?
  12. all wonderful photos, too many to comment on individually but Ravyk that smoke screen one is perfect you should send it to the CFA or whoever does your burns.
  13. I would suggest asking on POTN and also looking in the lens archive there for each of those lenses.
  14. I'm so sorry, that is just terrible.
  15. there was even a cow on a house roof, I wonder if it got down safely.
  16. I saw something funny today. This pesky little spider annoying a grasshopper. Talk about life in the small :D a little drama being played out for me.
