December Treasure Hunt! 2010 - Photo Challenge
Kirislin replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Waiting At this time of year Pagan has to get locked up over night and only allowed limited grazing during the day cause she could easily founder. Here she is this morning at my back yard gate waiting to be let in. -
OMG! I go to bed and come back in the morning and look at them all, and all so cute, I reckon we need a DOL head tilt calendar. Snooks I seem to remember a while back you felt you'd lost your inspiration and confidence, seems you've got them back! Terra I love your photos, always do, it's so good to see you posting again.

If they want to update any I am happy to submit more pics for hounds (whippet pics) and toy (Italian greyhound)

Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?
Kirislin replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had some awful stuff said about me by a breed club secretary. One thing was that I sold a dog to a woman and it had such a bad temperament she surrendered it to them and they put it down. Completely untrue. The woman got a rescue dog who was crackers and also had one of mine. She did surrender the other dog and the poor thing was put down, but I didn't breed it. I am happy to say the dog I bred is still alive and well and I see her regularly. -
I found the hound one  http://www.redbubble.com/people/seamonkey6...-2009-calendars

not sure if this is a DOL one, it costs more so I am guessing it's been marked up. http://www.redbubble.com/products/configure/4261181-calendar

only $80 at DWI!! http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...sp?idProduct=63 Probably not a saving if you buy it on its own as they charge a fair bit for postage but if you were buying a few things it makes it worthwhile. Maybe some here who've been wanting it could get together and buy a few in one purchase.

After seeing the cute pug head tilt thread in general it got me thinking we need a thread devoted to it. I have one I got the other day. Here's Peanut.

does the money go to DOL? I think one of my pics is on there.

Cute little dogs but it's a wonder they take any notice at all of that bloke asking different questions over and over again. Did you see the one of them watching themselves on the laptop?
-
Well first brekky with new feeding regime went well. Peanut securely locked away before I even touched the bowls and not let out until everyone had long finished and relaxing again and all bowls up off the floor.

No cheeky, this one lives to fly another day. I bet most would have swatted the other one, it was big and slow and very determined to land on my head, it kept coming back at me like an old WW2 fighter.

wow, I wish I'd known this about min pins before. Thanks for the suggestions and advice.

Yep, I'll be doing both from now on. Thanks everyone for re-inforcing what I suspected I must now do. When they first came here I would leave them locked in the house separate from my dogs when I had to go to work, but the last few weeks I'd been giving them the run of the house but I'll be going back to segregating them now, even though the little sh!t dug a hole in my carpet last time. Better a hole in the carpet than a hole in a dog.

Here is the problem child, you'd never know to look at her would you. and here in a more pensive mood, gazing at nothing in particular.

Thanks guys, I've always had my lot under contol when feeding and never had a problem, I can go and take anyones bones or food from them so this is a new situation for me, and I dont like it. So glad I have crates though, from now on that is Peanuts dining room.

I've got 5 whippets of my own and for about the last 5 or 6 weeks I've been looking after Iggy mums 2 little dogs while she is in hospital. They are an Italian Greyhound and a little chi/min pin x. All had been going pretty well until last night. They are pretty psycho with food but I always make them sit first and then they wait till I say they can eat. Last night Peanut, the chi x finished hers and just charged my boss girl Penny for hers. A fight broke out but luckily they stopped when I roared at them. Not like when Penny and Kibah fought, they would have killed each other. Anyway, I swatted Peanut and told her to "get!" and she just trotted off unconcerned as if to say, I dont care. This evening every one got raw chicken wings. The whippet girls got 2 each and the littlies got 1 which is a pretty big meal for them. I was on the phone and heard squabbling and rushed out, it was over but I think Peanut had attacked the iggy for hers. Then about 20 mins later when I gave the whippets their 2nd wing each Peanut just ran up and tried to take Pennys! Penny could easily beat, even kill this little fiend but she's a gentle girl and of course I wouldn't want her to do that anyway. I am worried that 1, someone will be injured and 2 that Peanut will just upset the balance here and cause more fights with the others if they see weakness in Penny. Right now I've got Peanut in a crate but it's not practical for long periods, any suggestion on how I can handle this? I'm thinking maybe I need to catch Peanut before I start dishing up their dinner, in other words, before the feeding frenzy starts, and locking her in a crate. Then when everyone else is eating I could feed her in the crate and maybe leave her there for half an hour or so afterwards to settle. Do you think that might work? Right now I am feeling anxious about even letting her out again, I might put her on a long lead.

I am hoping she is improving now. If you are allowed to bring her home but still have to keep up her fluids I've found that the best way my whippet took them was for her to be lying flat on her side, even her head down and then gently syringe (without the needle) water or electrolytes into the corner of her mouth. She swallowed this way but if she was sitting up it just dribbled out of her mouth. Good luck, I hope she is much improved now.

What've You Done With Your Photography This Year?
Kirislin replied to iltby's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I cannot claim to have achieved anything other than still having fun with it. I dont think I've improved much, and I am not happy with where I'm at but I suspect I'd better get used to it I've also met some people through the photography forum that I would never have, without coming here, Luke W, AnnieK, Clicking Mad, Becandcharch and Evolving who came to our last whippet fun day and took some lovely photos. I hope she comes again. I've made a redbubble calendar of our fun days to raise money for the club and they're proving popular, 9 sold yesterday!! All pretty small in the scheme of things but fun for me all the same. Bec, I loved your aged photo preset if that was that desaturated browny greeny look so many had, but I understand what you are saying about not relying on editing and learning to take a better photo in the first place, although I think yours are pretty good anyway. -
In the first pic it looks like you are shooting into the sun. Better with the sun behind you and maybe try with a lighter plainer background behind her.
