  1. aww Naomi you must be feeling a bit ignored, sorry about that. I am just an amatuer too and although I love it I dont think I have much in the way of talent (and I'm not fishing for compliments as I was once accused of, just being realistic) so not sure I can offer advice or critique. Why dont you join in the challenges. And dont let your fear of snakes stop you from going for walks. I've lived where I am now for 13 years and have probably only seen about 8 snakes if that while here. Never mind that one was in the house, one just outside the door, one in the chook pen and a few in the paddocks. The path you've photographed would have been perfectly safe to walk along. Even if you saw a snake just walk around it, leave it alone and continue to enjoy your walk, maybe even take some pics of said snake and scare some of the phobics here. If you ever want inspiration just look at what Persephone and Huga can do with a point and shoot, and keep posting here
  2. Julie Morrow in Mt Evelyn is wonderful, and listens to owners. I hope she can help you.
  3. It's a very lonely time being up in the middle of the night worrying about a sick dog. I hope you can get her to the vet this morning and that it is nothing serious.
  4. Very pretty and nanna-ish. It looks really homely and comforting. I can just hear the teaspoon clinking on the cup.
  5. Happy Birthday you dear old girl.
  6. I dried and salted the ones I got. I have a beautiful fox pelt out there right now. They go stiff and if they got wet they'd get smelly again if you didn't dry them out properly. Sounds like it wont be around that long with the pups though.
  7. I have to try to do this one, I've been a bit slack with some in the past.
  8. they put my photos on what's that bug? http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2010/11/29/bri...phibolia-vidua/
  9. Were those pics taken with the 5D or the 50D?
  10. That's probably who I'd buy off too. Last week their 7D was only $1300!!!! Not that I need another one. It's gone up again now, as the Aussie $ looses value.
  11. Merry Christmas to you!! Who did you get them off and was it a good deal?
  12. Bellatrix I love those stripey leaves, I've got some of those lillies but mine are just plain green, the colours and bokeh in yours and Piris pics are just beautiful. And Piri you'd be welcome to our fun days, not all the dogs who attend are whippets.
  13. poor little things, they look so innocent, they didn't even know to be scared of the dogs. They wouldn't have had a chance. I am sorry, you must be heartbroken.
  14. now it says it's private and I dont have permission to view it. I am on flickr though so I dont mind if you link it.
  15. that page comes up with an error message.
  16. thanks Frodos mum. Here's what it is. Interesting that the fly depicted has slightly different markings to both of mine. I think there must be a bit of variation in them cause the two I have seen haven't been identical. http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2009/12/13/unk...fly-we-believe/
  17. a few years ago, before I had a camera of my own I posted a pic of a freaky fly who buzzed around me and it was so sluggish I swatted it and accidentally killed it. I've never seen anything like it so I took a photo and eventually posted the actual fly off to the museum, never heard another thing from them about it. Here's the pic from then. Well today I saw another one, not exactly the same, the first one had an exact heart shape on its bottom. I suspect it's just individual variation, I think it's probably the same species. I've not seen one since that first one years ago. Has anyone else seen a fly like this? It looks for all the world like it's wearing a knitted jumper
  18. I saw this gorgeous kelpie at the organic farmers market yesterday
  19. taken at last weeks whippet fun day with the 70-200 @ 2.8
  20. I can just imagine the shrieks from owners when these dirty dawgs appear all happy and wanting to come inside. I wish I'd thought to take a photo of Peanut the other day after she'd done a full body slam into a steaming moist pile of fresh warm horse poo.
  21. I am not sure but I think blu tack is non toxic. Also I dont personally beleive it would cause a blockage because if she chewed it, it would be in little bits, I've worked with blu tack alot, I used to use it as an eraser when I was drawing, it goes soft when warm. I think she will be alright, but I am not a vet.
