  1. I had super fleas when I first moved here! I use the Kiltix tick and flea collars (recommended by my vet) and have had no ticks or fleas on the dogs since I started. Have you tried Advocate for the cat?
  2. There is South Coast Animal Rescue based at Tomerong: https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Coast-Animal-Rescue-Inc/234670036567123?fref=ts
  3. When I fostered I often took the working breeds. Yes they took longer to rehome but only a few weeks more. I only ever took dogs under 12 months though as I felt that age fitted better with my pack. Here's a gorgeous kelpie girl I wish I'd kept (and so did my cattle dog I think)!
  4. I missed this thread earlier! There is more info at this link: http://dogsnsw.org.au/members/noticeboard/504-attention-all-members-of-dogs-nsw-of-utmost-importance-nsw-companion-animals-taskforce-report.html

    Tick Collar

Yes some of those reviews are worrying! The vet said they sell a lot of them and hadn't any complaints.

    Tick Collar

I've been using the Kiltix collar but saw this one in the vets yesterday and am going to give it a try. It lasts for 14 weeks and supposedly has no odour. I found the Preventic collar has a strong odour which sticks in my throat, the Kiltix isn't as bad. http://www.msd-animal-health.com.au/Products/scalibor/82_102860.aspx
  7. Thanks very much for your kind off Rozzie, but I have to decline. :D
  8. I've got a Cav I would swap, hang on, no I would pay someone to take her!
  9. I'm so sorry for your loss Anne. RIP Monte, run fast and free.
  10. I agree with Persephone, frames are at the least risk of choking a dog. I gave a 10 week old Shih Tzu pup a wing once, luckily I supervised her eating it as she obviously thought it was taking to long to chew, so she tried to swallow it whole!
  11. You could try Nutrigel which is available in most pet stores or from the vet there is a highly palatable prescription diet called Hills AD. It is very easy to digest and full of calories so might be helpful to start him on this, if he'll eat it, and then start mixing a little of his other food in after a few days. http://www.troylab.com.au/products.php?tid=1&iid=32&pid=166
  12. My Cav girl had a mysterious stomach upset late last year that was initially thought of as pancreatitis. She spent a couple of days at the vets and was sent home after she managed to keep some food down for a few hours, but with no diagnosis. Half an hour after coming home she passed a piece of gravel. This from a dog that individually picks up and chews every tiny piece of kibble.
  13. You might rethink that in a year or two. My cattle dog is much easier than my Cav!
  14. Yes he is very patient and has to put up with a lot! She is constantly jumping on him and licking him plus many other things which I'm sure annoy him no end. I wish all my dogs could be like my cattle dog. :)
  15. I fixed it! I want a cute fluffy kitten too after watching all my youtube videos.
  16. I think you also need to be forewarned that they can be a little ummm, special and often have the attention span of a gnat. Here's a video I took about 3 years ago at the dog park. The dogs know that they have to sit before I'll throw the ball . . .
  17. I have a nearly 8 year old tri-colour Cav girl who is still like that! I thought when I was buying a Cav I was buying a dog that slept a lot and was very placid. Boy was I misled.
  18. I just went to ebay and had a look - I mean Urine-Off. The other one, without the dash, is a new product I think.
  19. Another vote for Urine Off or if I've run out of that I use Bio Zet laundry powder.
